Alex was standing on a flat piece of cracked ground, which looked like a dried riverbed. The soil under his boots was gray and dull, filled with long lines and patterns like old scars. There were no trees, grass, or sound. There was only a silent and empty land that felt as if life had been pulled out of it long ago. The sky above him was covered in dark clouds, making the world feel heavy and uncertain.
Currently, Alex was standing still, not moving even a single step forward. Even his breath was caught in his throat.

Because not too far away, two gigantic beasts were roaring right in front of him. These two beasts were not just big, they were simply humongous, like mountains shaped into the form of pythons. The second beast was covered in silver scales that looked like sharp metal plates. These scales reflected the gloomy sky above and made the beast look like a living river of steel. Its eyes were long and narrow, colored with a deep red that seemed to pierce directly into Alex's soul.
There were two World Devouring Beasts.
The World Devouring Beast with dark scales was Elyndra, while the one with silver scales was Elyndra's mother, Selyara.
After devouring five additional Red Source Crystals each, both of them evolved from Sky Devouring Beasts into World Devouring Beasts. The horrifying part of their evolution was not only the change in their appearance and size, but also their cultivation.
They had actually achieved Sainthood just by devouring ten Red Source Crystals each.
