Legendary Architect of Apocalypse-Chapter 72: First Evolution
The Growth Stone felt like a lump of fire as it went down Elias’s throat. It burned, but not with physical pain. Instead, it was strange, unfamiliar heat that quickly spread outwards, like warmth reaching into every cell within his body.
There was no pain for the first few minutes, but when the pain arrived, it came like a storm that made him grit his teeth. The burning sensation within his body intensified and became more painful. The extreme pain made it hard to breathe as his vision turned red.
Amidst his blurry vision, he saw multiple system screens appearing all around him. However, all of them were glitching so badly that he couldn’t even read what was written on them.
The more he looked at the glitching screens, the more he felt as if his head was splitting apart. It was so painful that he was forced to close his eyes, as tears trickled down his cheeks.
The Ego watched him look like he was dying in pain, and grew frightened. Why was he going through such pain? Wasn’t it just his first evolution?
As far as he knew, the first evolution was not supposed to be this painful. Even though it took a long time where one couldn’t afford to be distracted, that was the extent of the first evolution. Why was Elias’s evolution different!
Even more shocking was that he had seen Elias’s eyes turn blood red before he closed them. The Ego wasn’t sure if it was imagining things, until it saw tears of blood trickle down Elias’s cheeks.
There was no question about it. Something had truly gone wrong in Elias’s first evolution. It wasn’t the evolution that could be achieved with just an ordinary Evolution Stone!
He wanted to help Elias, but he wasn’t human. He couldn’t even touch Elias, let alone try to help him. There was no one there that he could even ask for help.
"A-are you alright?" he asked, as loud as he could. But when Elias wasn’t in contact with him, his voice was almost non-existent, and no one could hear him.

"What do I do?!" The Ego also started panicking, trying to think of something. Unfortunately, there was nothing that it could do, except watch.
....
Inside the Ship of Elten Ashborn, the ceremony of turning Lilian into an Undead was still ongoing.
Elten was so immersed in the ceremony, that he didn’t notice a light coming out of his pocket. There was an item that had started shining brightly, but that light went unnoticed.
If Elten had seen that thing, he would have been stunned as well. It was the object that he was supposed to give Elias right after the Awakening Ceremony.
It was also the thing that he went to the Land of Frost to give to his younger brother before becoming completely distracted by Lilian’s Corpse.
From the moment he had received this object from Aliath, it was the first time this useless object had shown any change, and it went completely unnoticed.
....
As Elias went through the evolution, his body also started changing. The silver hue of his hair started changing as his signature Ashborn Silver hair became darker.
Black roots started to appear, spreading through his silver strands like ink in water. Within moments, his hair was entirely jet black, completely different from the silver it had been just moments before.
The veins on his face and neck became more visible with an unnatural dark energy that seemed to crawl just beneath his skin. His frail muscles also started to expand subtly. They didn’t become bulky, but they grew denser.
The Bones of the Ancient Dragon also seemed to become more compatible with his body. His body was merging with the elements from its surroundings, greedily sucking everything around it to be used as nutrients for his evolution.
The first collateral damage was none other than the Corruption of Constellation, which had invaded his body without his permission when he landed in the Forest of Fables.
Normally, he would need to enter a contract with a Soul Beast to get rid of the Corruption of the Constellation. Even extraction wasn’t possible with such low material instability.
It was different with his evolution, though. This time, he wasn’t extracting the Corruption of Constellation from his body. Instead, his body was merging with the Corruption to aid in his evolution.
The corrupt merger, initially inflicted by the Constellation as a form of poison, was being corrected, like a virus being utilized to make the body even stronger.
Elias couldn’t see the screens, but his Material Stability was improving as his evolution progressed. The Stability went from 4 percent to 50 percent within half an hour, and it only continued to climb with each passing second.
The only problem was that the process wasn’t painless. Moreover, the effect of corruption on his mind, although weakened, was not completely erased.
There was another change happening inside Elias’s body that had nothing to do with normal evolution or even the Corruption of a Constellation.
....
Elias didn’t know how much time had passed during the evolution or when he had even passed out. The only thing he knew was that his body had never felt better when he slowly opened his eyes, finding himself lying on his side.
The first thing he saw after opening his eyes wasn’t his surroundings. Instead, it was a system screen.
.........
First Evolution has been successfully completed. New Abilities have been unlocked.
...........
"It would’ve been much more helpful if you could tell me the abilities outright instead of letting me guess," Elias complained, but he knew that was impossible. Just like last time, he would have to guess his own abilities.
At least that’s what he thought until he saw the system screen change.
............
Instructions Received. Ability List is being summarized.
..........
The words on the screen changed once more, and a proper list appeared. The list arrived with a summary after each of the mentioned ability.
