Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Arabella’s Trap

One problem left unresolved, and now a new one has arisen, and this one is even bigger than before. Callum already suspects Arabella’s goal in creating this chaos is to get them married. Since Arabella can’t marry him without a reason, this method is the most effective way to force them into a marriage.

Even though Arabella forced him to marry her, Callum still didn’t care because he had promised to marry Edith after this whole thing was over. Instead, he wanted to bully Arabella for bullying him last night.

"Arabella, I’m sure you’ve been out of your mind since last night. Are you still drunk now?"

"Actually, since last night, I’ve been able to think clearly. I want to marry you soon."

Callum took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly. "What if I don’t want to marry you?"

"Why don’t you want to marry me? Is it because you still love Edith?" Arabella rolled her eyes. "Callum, you should stop obsessing over Edith. She has a new life now. If you continue to cling to her, she won’t be able to forget the bad memories of her past."

"You’re wrong, Arabella. I have to marry Edith because I’m the only man she loves. If she were to marry another man, she wouldn’t be able to live happily. Likewise, I would not be able to live happily without Edith."

"Haven’t you thought about what Edith is doing right now? She must be saddened by the news that’s trending online. Besides, this news actually benefits our company. Have you not considered the fate of the company if you marry Edith?"

Callum furrowed his brows, folding his arms. "I don’t care. All I care about is Edith."

Arabella nodded. "Okay, I’ll assume you reject this marriage. But what about your parents? I’m sure they’ll still force you to marry me."

"Do I need to cut ties with them?"

"Are you crazy?!"

"Yes, I’m really crazy right now. I wouldn’t be able to live even if I married you." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"I suggest you think more clearly. If you fall just because of a woman, I won’t help you!"

"In fact, I’m very reluctant to ask for help from you!"

Today was the worst day for Edith and Callum. News of the heated scandal between Callum and Arabella was trending more and more as time went on. Edith was very reluctant to communicate with Callum because she wanted him to explain everything directly to her. Furthermore, she didn’t want to add to the conflict in her household so that her twins wouldn’t worry her. Even now, her twins still didn’t understand adult issues that were trending on the internet. Fortunately, the kids at school didn’t gossip about them, including their parents.

After putting her twins to bed, Edith waited in the living room for Callum to return. She had been crying, having held it all morning until now, she was short of breath. Now she gave Callum one more chance to explain everything.

A few minutes later, Callum stepped into the house, causing Edith to immediately wipe away her tears. Now, Edith was sitting upright, hugging a small pillow, trying to act professional.

"You’re finally home," Edith greeted coldly.

"Why didn’t you answer my calls today?"

"I’ve been busy all day today. I haven’t had time to talk to you."

"Edith, I can explain everything to you."

Edith pursed her lips and patted the sofa. "Okay, I’ll give you one more chance. Sit down!"

Callum still had a troubled expression on his face, sitting next to his girlfriend. "Edith, thank you for giving me a chance. I thought you wouldn’t listen to me."

"I’m acting like this doesn’t mean I want to forgive you."

"I know. Now I have to face the consequences from you because I hid this from you."

"I don’t want to be lenient with you until you give me a proper answer."

This time Callum knelt in front of her making her feel even tighter. Although she didn’t mean to treat Callum like a sinner, Callum’s attitude now seems very guilty to her.

"Edith, what the news says is true. Last night, I met Arabella at the penthouse."

"Then what were you doing there? Why did you suddenly obey her when you hated her all this time?"

"She threatened me. At first, I didn’t want to go to her. But she claimed she was drunk, so I didn’t want her to be in danger because of me. When I got there, she set me up and must have ordered reporters to take pictures and record us." Callum rubbed his palms together furiously. "Please, Edith! I didn’t mean to do it with her. I swear nothing happened to us that night. Even though the photos look like we were kissing, I didn’t kiss her."

A heavy sigh escaped her lips. Edith crouched for a moment, gripping her lover’s hands tightly. "If you two weren’t kissing, why didn’t you tell me about it? Didn’t you promise to be open with me?"

"I’m worried you’ll hate me."

"It’s precisely because you didn’t tell me anything that I hate you a little! Do you really not trust me yet?"

"I trust you so much. If I were to be honest, it would only hurt your feelings."

"No. I’d rather you were honest with me. If I’d known from the start, I wouldn’t have nearly had a heart attack when I read the news."

"I’m sorry. If I had known this, I wouldn’t have hidden it from you."

Edith wrapped her arms tightly around her lover’s broad back. Hearing the story had brought her some relief, but she still felt uneasy about the current situation. For everyone else, this news was a positive thing. Was her relationship with Callum further strained?

"Callum, if you want me to forgive you, you have to promise not to make the same mistake again. Because I really hate men who are secretive and pretend to be fine in front of me. Now I understand why you’re so moody in the morning."
