Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Hot Scandal

Her breath suddenly began to hitch as news of this hot scandal spread across social media. Although everyone was very supportive of Callum and Arabella’s relationship, Edith didn’t approve. Furthermore, she wondered when this incident had happened. Why had Callum kept this from her until now? That was what made her hate Callum so much now. She had hoped he would always be open with her.

Cold sweat continued to pour down her body. Her vision grew increasingly blurry, almost causing her to collapse. Luckily, she was still able to move quickly, holding onto her desk. Now she was at a loss for what to do. She couldn’t bear to imagine what her twins would do if they read this article.

Eventually, Edith called her assistant to discuss the matter with her in her office. Her boyfriend had been trying to contact her, but she refused to answer the phone.

"Edith, you won’t answer Callum’s calls?"

Edith sighed heavily, folding her arms and staring out the window. "How am I supposed to answer his call after reading that news?"

"But, it’s possible that someone faked the news. There’s no way Callum—"

"Renata, couldn’t you have seen it clearly? Moreover, there was a video of it that dared to be shown on the news, even though it was intentionally blurred." Her hands were clenched tightly. "Actually, I still want an explanation from Callum. Why did he hide this from me?"

"Edith, you better not be stubborn. I know Callum must be feeling very burdened by this strange news."

"Still, I won’t forgive him for lying to me. I don’t like men who lie to me."

Edith paced back and forth, massaging her temples. Meanwhile, Renata worried that Edith’s mental state would become unstable again because of this issue. She worried that the trauma Edith experienced in the past would reopen.

At the same time, Cliff burst into the room, panting, causing Edith to stop in her tracks. Ever since her memories returned, she had hated Cliff. Seeing his face now made her feel even more disgusted. However, she remained friendly to Cliff so he wouldn’t suspect anything.

"Cliff, what are you doing here?"

Cliff immediately hugged her slender body tightly, signaling Renata to leave the room. "Of course, I’m very worried about you. I knew you’d be like this after reading the news."

"Actually, I’m fine. You don’t have to worry too much about me."

"I suspected that Callum had only approached you to take advantage of you. He’s actually had a girlfriend for a long time."

"Since when, Cliff? Why didn’t I know?" Edith deliberately acted out a play to test Cliff’s answer.

"Edith, they’ve actually been dating for five years. I can see it with my own eyes; they’re so affectionate, it makes me jealous."

"But, why didn’t Callum tell me the truth all this time?"

"Because Callum was afraid you’d leave him if you found out the truth." Cliff led his ex-fiancée to sit on the sofa next to him. "Edith, this is why I don’t want to see you with Callum. I know he’s a traitor. He’s been relying on his sweet talk to seduce you."

"Now I want to ask you. Will you be like him one day?"

Cliff lifted the corners of his lips. "No. I’m not a coward like him. If I ever look like him, I’ll be willing to be killed by you."

Edith couldn’t hold back her tears any longer. This time, she let out her tears not because she felt betrayed, but because Callum was hiding the truth. If Callum was hiding it, did something really happen to Callum and Arabella that night? That’s what’s been bothering Edith to this day.

"Cliff, for now I just want to be alone."

"But, if something happens to you–"

"Don’t worry. I’ll call Renata later to take care of me. For now, I don’t want anyone coming near me."

Finally, Cliff took the initiative to get up from the sofa and straighten his jacket. "Okay, I’ll do as you wish for now. If you ever need any help, you can call me."

Edith replied with a casual smile. "You should go back to the office. Don’t let your work suffer because of me."

Meanwhile, Callum was furious after reading the news article about what he’d been up to all night in the penthouse. The video even clearly showed what he’d done in the pool, as if he were having a steamy kiss with Arabella. He laughed in annoyance and slammed his tablet on the table.

"That bitch dares to use this cheap trick to destroy me!"

"Even though there are actually many positive comments on all social media regarding this scandal, this news cannot be ignored," said Patrick with a look of pity.

"I know Arabella called me last night on purpose to set me up and then call the press to take pictures of us!" Callum slammed his fist on the table until the back of his hand was red. "Edith hasn’t answered my calls either because of this!"

"But, have you ever told her about this before?"

In an instant, his expression turned nervous. "No."

"What?!" Patrick slapped his forehead. "No wonder Edith hates you now."

"Actually, Arabella suddenly called me last night. At first, I refused, but she threatened me. If I didn’t meet her, she would do whatever it took to get me to her."

"She is really a very scary woman."

"Now you must investigate this secretly. Find out who the reporter is and reveal the truth."

At the same time, Arabella entered the room without knocking, causing Callum to become even more furious and loosen his tie. Meanwhile, Patrick immediately left the room before things escalated.

Now it was just Arabella and Callum standing facing each other. Callum slammed his fist on the table as he glared at Arabella.

"Is this your doing, Arabella?!"

"Why are you yelling at me? Can’t you read all the comments people are making about our relationship? Besides, your family company’s stock price is going up."

"I still don’t care! I’ll tell everyone that you’re the one who framed me!"

"Actually, the way to solve this problem is easy. You have to marry me, Callum."
