Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Hero Saves the Beauty, the Mysterious Elixir

"No need," Lilia spat, fumbling to knock a goblin away, her teeth clenched in anger.

All she had left was her tongue; her body was a mess.

"If you don’t need me, then I’m leaving," Allen said, rolling his eyes before turning to go.

"You jerk, stay right there!" Lilia snapped, truly furious now. She nearly charged forward to punch the guy to smithereens.

"Seize that human! Bring him to the Goblin King!" The goblins didn’t want to let Allen off. With a roar, they surged forward like a storm.

Allen smiled. These goblins were numerous and strong—mostly goblin warriors and goblin braves.

Some were even stage 1 level 10 goblin elites.

Best of all, they were in a narrow canyon no more than ten meters wide. A single Heaven’s Punishment: Fireball could sweep across it all. The dense crowd of goblins was nothing more than sitting ducks.

Allen raised his hand. A massive fireball shot out with a whistle.

Boom! It exploded, sending flames surging across the entire canyon. The fire roared, devouring everything.

Goblin screams and howls echoed as hundreds were burned alive in the inferno.

[You killed a stage 1 level 5 goblin warrior. Experience +50.]

[You killed a stage 1 level 7 goblin brave. Experience +70.]

[You killed a stage 1 level 9 goblin elite. Experience +90.]

[Your level has increased to stage 1 level 6. All four base stats +30, free stat points +4.]

[Your level has increased to stage 1 level 7. All four base stats +30, free stat points +4.]

...

The notification lights flashed nonstop. One single Fireball had pushed Allen all the way to stage 1 level 7.

This kind of leveling was pure bliss.

Excited, Allen kept hurling giant fireballs, raining destruction on the goblins in the canyon.

The canyon turned into a sea of flames, filled with the sharp stench of burnt flesh.

"That guy’s a devil! Run!" The goblins were terrified now, scattering in every direction. No one dared charge up again.

"Don’t run! That sneaky human must be using powerful magic scrolls. He can’t have many left. Attack together—we can kill him!" A goblin elite roared in anger, but no one listened.

They were already scared out of their wits.

"Is that guy crazy?" Lilia muttered from a boulder, her anxiety fading as she watched Allen release Fireball after Fireball, her mind reeling.

The Heaven-Cursed skill cost life force, so at this rate of fighting, he’d be lucky to live past twenty.

Allen swept through the canyon, leaving nothing but scorched corpses in his wake.

"That human is a devil—we can’t beat him! Run!" Panic-filled shouts rang out. The remaining goblins, realizing they couldn’t fight back, rushed in a desperate scramble toward the far end of the canyon.

A few goblin elites tried to keep order, but their efforts were useless. Instead, they nearly got trampled by the panicked mob.

Allen had no intention of letting them get away. He chased them relentlessly, unleashing wave after wave of Fireballs and Wind Blades in a ruthless slaughter.

"Hey, maniac! Stop chasing them! If you keep going like this, you’ll die!" Lilia couldn’t bear to watch and quickly called out to warn him.

By the time the goblin horde was almost out of the valley, Allen finally stopped and checked his experience bar.

In just a few moments, he had reached stage 1 level 9, gaining a huge power boost.

As for the free stat points he earned, he distributed them evenly across his four base attributes.

For ordinary warriors and mages, they usually focus on boosting Strength and Spirit.

But Allen was different. Since The Heaven-Cursed allowed him to cultivate both magic and warrior skills, spreading his stats evenly was the best path.

"It’s a pity I didn’t hit stage 1 level 10," Allen muttered, watching the goblin horde disappear into the distance.

He guessed the goblin nest was just beyond the canyon, likely filled with more of them.

"Oh, my pills!"

Suddenly, Lilia let out a cry of alarm. Remembering something, she jumped down from the rock and started digging through the pile of goblin corpses on the ground.

"What are you looking for?" Allen walked over, curious.

"My pills! They’re gone," Lilia said, head down, her voice shaky.

"Pills? Are you sick?" Allen asked, confused.

"You’re sick, and so is your whole family!" Lilia snapped, annoyed. Who talked like that?

She soon found a broken porcelain bottle. A pile of red pills had been crushed into the ground, mixed with goblin blood and flesh. They were clearly ruined and useless now.

It’s over!

Lilia’s face turned pale, and she slumped to the ground in defeat.

These pills had been crafted by her father and Simon to suppress the violent power raging inside her body. Without them, she risked exploding and dying.

"I have to end the dungeon trial early and leave," she decided firmly.

Sitting nearby, Allen noticed the pile of red pills mixed with the blood and flesh. His frown deepened.

He knew that power all too well; it was made from his own blood.

But how did his blood end up in Lilia’s hands?

"Lilia, what exactly are these pills, and where did you get them?" Allen asked with a smile.

"None of your business!"

Lilia was already on edge. Hearing his question, she answered grumpily.

"I’m just curious. Maybe I can help you," Allen didn’t get mad at all. He leaned in closer and kept pressing.

Seeing his infuriating expression, Lilia’s anger faded a bit. She sniffed and finally said, "My father and Simon made these for me. I don’t know the exact effects."

She didn’t mention that the pills suppressed her internal power. It was her secret, and her father had strictly warned her never to tell anyone.

Does this have anything to do with the City Lord?

Allen frowned. Was the person behind the underground casino actually the City Lord?

If so, his identity was probably already exposed. Even with his increased power, he might not stand a chance against the City Lord.

Allen asked again, "Lilia, when did you start taking these pills?"

"About six months ago. Hey, why do you care so much? Do you have a thing for this young lady?" Lilia shot him a wary glance and took a small step back.

Allen was a The Heaven-Cursed and a reckless madman. If he lost control, she couldn’t stop his Forbidden Spell attacks.

"You’re overthinking it," Allen replied flatly, though he felt a wave of relief in his chest.

Lilia had only started taking these pills six months ago. He, on the other hand, had been selling his blood for a whole year.

His blood was special, rich with life force. If the City Lord really was behind the underground gambling ring, they would have already discovered his identity.

So, why was Lilia taking pills made from his blood? Was she sick?

Allen grew even more curious, but realizing this touched on her privacy, he decided not to press further.

Lilia pouted and stared at the ground. She wanted to leave the dungeon early, but doing so would mean she couldn’t level up any further.

She had just reached Stage 1, Level 3. With Allen’s help, she could probably hit Stage 1, Level 5 in no time. However, thinking back to his cold attitude before, she couldn’t bring herself to ask.

"Is that jerk not into women? Or is my charm not good enough?" Lilia suddenly doubted her own looks. Frustrated, she kicked the boulder in front of her hard.

Thud!

The sound startled Allen. He was busy looting the battlefield, collecting crystal cores. Turning around with a frown, he asked, "What was that for? Do you really have a problem?"

"Just shut up! I don’t want to talk to you!" Lilia snapped angrily and sat down nearby, sulking.

"Ridiculous," Allen muttered, scratching his head. He decided to ignore her. He looked down at the pile of goblin crystal cores on the ground, feeling worried.

There were too many. His makeshift bag could only hold about a hundred. He couldn’t carry the rest.

Besides, the Academy beginner dungeon could only be opened by the old Dean. He only had one shot at this.

With no other choice, Allen turned to Lilia. "Miss Lilia, do you have any space storage gear on you?"

Lilia was still fuming. When she heard him, she retorted coldly, "Do you think those things are cheap vegetables? No, I don’t."

This made things difficult.

Allen looked at the piles of crystal cores, his brow furrowed in thought. Then, an idea struck him.

"Lilia, how about we make a deal?" Allen said, flashing a smile as he approached her again.

"Hey, why is your smile so creepy? What do you want?"

Lilia became even more alert. She pulled her collar tight, held her spear in front of her, and shuffled backward.

Allen’s smile vanished instantly.

Am I really that scary? he thought. But he couldn’t blame Lilia for overthinking. Although she was still a bit young, she was undeniably beautiful—her striking red hair paired with her cold, pure face would make any normal man’s heart race.
