Hye Yang knew when she was at a loss and withdrew, but the hatred that brewed knowing she had been caught was directed at Mira. Hye Yang had no excuses.

"I did not mean to-" Hye Yang began, looking for a way out. "The cub jumped into the river and I wanted to help but that was when Mira came in and my body pushed her in. I would never do anything to harm members of a tribe who welcomed me. Never." She sounded like someone who was misunderstood and her voice broke so hard you would think she was about to cry.

Honestly, Mira had to congratulate. Hye Yang was almost believable.

"My King, we found something at the other side of the river shore." Another pride male said, walking to them.

It seemed like they scouted the area. It seemed like Jia Hao finished with his meeting then realised his wife was not in his bed chambers and he organised a search based on where onlookers proclaimed she was at, Mira thought, accessing the situation from a diverse point of view.

The pride male bowed before the king then handed a coconut to him. It was a broken in half coconut secured together by leaves tied around the centre. Jia Hao took it and broke it apart in a single move.

A scent filled his nose. He knew what this mixture was and that gingered his already heightened rage. It was a concoction mix used to terminate babies while in the mother’s belly. Such mix was banned from the forest a long time ago since the issue of the beast world’s near extinction but it somehow made its way into his pride. Right when his wife was carrying his child, right when the sister who she wanted away so badly visited and right in a situation that nearly killed his mate and his unborn child with a lion cub.

The situation was clear. Hye Yang had a mission in mind the very day she stepped foot in his pride land and he was foolish to not send her packing.

The other pride members sniffed and so did Ming Tao. An irritated look plastered their faces as they grasped the situation. All the males in the pride shifted into their beast form, ready to plunder what Mira assumed to be fox meat. Her sister.

In all of this, Mira rejoiced in her head. Her timer blinked red but it looked like she did not need to be the one fighting for dear, little sister to be gone. Hye Yang dug her own grave with her own hands and this fulfilled a thrill the old Mira would’ve loved to witness.

Mira had the old owner of this body’s memories. The old Mira accepted defeat countless times because she was already known to be a demon, a name she acquired because of her sister but this Mira would not settle for it. She would right the wrong of that poor girl who was poisoned and expose every single living being who wanted her dead, that was her conviction and that was what she would do. Hye Yang shivered in a spot. She shook her head.

The shifted lions roared, itching to go berserk. The only thing keeping them in line was the fact that Jia Hao had not ordered their next move. They waited for an order from their king.

"Exposing what, exactly?" Ming Tao asked.

Hye Yang swallowed.

"You had a lot of mouth before. Speak now before I bite your tongue off." Jia Hao ordered.

"She asked me to give our meat mother that mix to eat and when I did not do it, she hit me, pulled me by the ear and tugged me around till she pushed me in the water!" The baby lion yelled. This was the first time he spoke and took his head off Mira’s breasts. "She said she was going to make my father have one less mouth to feed." He cried loudly. Now he buried his head back into Mira’s breasts again, clutching her tightly.

"She should be killed. The council will adhere to it." One of the pride males suggested. Mira swallowed. Would this be the end of her sister’s life? Was the beast world this brutal?

System did not answer.

"Don’t kill her. Nor should this be reported to the council." Mira uttered. This caused Hye Yang to look at her. There was not a flicker of remorse in her gaze, only plain, cold hatred.

I am trying to save you, bitch, the least you could do is feign appreciation, Mira thought.

Jia Hao shot Mira a glare for her words.

"She’s my sister, my love." Mira said to Jia Hao. "As terrible as what she did is." Mira added. Mistaking her pardon as weakness was a wrong thing to assume. She was not saving Hye Yang out of love. If there was someone who would kill that witch, it would be her. Right after she exposes Hye Yang for who she truly is.

Ming Tao’s eyes darkened, then it softened, now it wavered. Who was this woman? Mira would die to have the chance to hurt anybody yet here she was offering pardon, he thought. This Mira was strange.

She was just pretending! Ming Tao concluded. Just because so many eyes are on her, it was nothing more.

"Please, don’t harm my sister." Mira pleaded, interrupting Ming Tao’s thoughts.

Jia Hao’s fist clenched. "Hye Yang, you are banished from the territory of the lion clan. The day you step your foot in our border is the day you die. Now take your furry friends and leave." Jia Hao ordered.

Hye Yang bowed, still shivering. "Thank you for your kindness, lion king."

Jia Hao scoffed. "If it was up to me, your head would be served to vultures. Do not speak when I am here."

"Yes, supreme king." Hye Yang said and scurried away. The timer stopped.
