THE FORGOTTEN HEIRESS-Chapter 339: Something Wrong With Him Down There
"Except what?" Steffan stared at Lauren suspiciously. He had a feeling he wasn’t going to like what would come out of her mouth but still pressed.
"Except you are not..." Lauren paused and slowly lowered her gaze downwards to rest on Steffan’s waist and dared not go any lower.
"...okay down there," she completed shyly.
Steffan’s eyes slowly widened in shock when he understood what Lauren was hinting at. For a moment, he was too stunned to respond.
"Excuse me?" he finally managed to say, his voice tight with disbelief.
Lauren bit her lower lip, looking a bit guilty yet defiant.
Who else knew better if Steffan was okay down there or not than her? Even though they had not crossed the last line, they had gone deeper than just stopping at the kissing stage in their relationship.
"I just thought... I mean..." but stopped when she saw the furious look on Steffan’s face.
He couldn’t believe she had just said that. Was that not an indirect insult to him as a man? Few men can compare to the size of his instrument.
Not to talk of the many nights he had woken up with a hard erection after dreaming about her and could only relieve himself with his hands after that kiss they shared at The Masters Place?
Was that not the same reason he insisted on finding out the truth about their past?
Thinking about this now, he suddenly realized that Lauren had tricked him again by cleverly diverting his attention from the answers he sought, but he was going to turn the tables around and make her pay for that.
While Lauren was still groping around for words, a mischievous glint suddenly appeared in Steffan’s eyes and with a slow, sly smile creeping across his face, he took a step closer to Lauren.
"No need to think too much. Why don’t we find out if I’m okay down there or not?" he challenged, his voice dropping to a low, teasing murmur.
Lauren’s cheeks flushed a deep crimson, her eyes widening. She hadn’t expected this reaction.
"Steffan, that’s not what I..." she began, but the words caught in her throat as she felt his deep gaze which was getting darker by the second.
He took another step closer, closing the distance between them. "Oh, I think you did," he said, his tone playful yet serious. "And you’ve got me curious now."
Lauren’s breath hitched as she felt the heat of his body so close to hers. She looked up into his eyes, seeing a glimmer of the man before the accident... the man who had been confident, bold, and unafraid to challenge her.
"Steffan, we shouldn’t..." she whispered, but there was no conviction in her voice. She was torn between her lingering feelings and the fear that he would actually carry out his threat. What if someone stumbles on them?
But Steffan was less bothered about that. Apart from Dolly, no one had come to disturb him since he resumed.
He gently cupped her chin, tilting her face upwards. "Lauren, I might not remember everything, but I know there’s something between us," he said softly. "Something worth exploring."
Her heart pounded as she searched his eyes, finding only sincerity and something deeper.
"And I have a feeling you wanted to be my girlfriend. Am I wrong?" Steffan gambled close. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
She nodded slowly. "You are wrong," she managed to say, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Why don’t I believe you?" Steffan whispered still in that passionate voice that seemed to wrap around Lauren like a warm embrace, each word igniting a fire within her.
Without hesitation, Steffan leaned in and kissed her. The kiss was gentle at first, filled with all the questions and emotions he couldn’t yet remember. but soon turned passionate when Lauren melted into him, wrapping her arms around his neck as she responded with equal fervor.
When he sensed that Lauren was out of breath, he reluctantly pulled away but not completely.
Resting his forehead against Lauren’s as they both breathed heavily, he brushed his thumb across her cheek lightly, his eyes searching hers.
With his other hand, he took one of hers and guided it towards the huge bulge that had formed under his trousers and Lauren felt a scalding fire on her palms.
"Do you still think there’s something wrong with me down there?" he asked huskily.
Lauren quickly snapped back her hand and stepped away from Steffan, vigorously shaking her head at the same time. "No, I don’t."
Steffan’s smile widened, a playful glint in his eyes.
"Good. Because I plan on proving just how ’okay’ I am, to you right here and now on that bed."
"You wouldn’t dare!" Lauren shot back with disgust as she darted her eyes over to the only bed in the room.
She couldn’t bring herself to imagine having sex with Steffan on that bed that millions of patients have laid while he examined them.
"Is that a challenge?" Steffan asked, leaning closer to her again. "We can begin right away if you don’t mind,"
"Shameless! Have you forgotten that this is a hospital?"
"Oh, I see. You’re gambling on the fact that someone might walk in on us. But that’s not a problem, I can prove it to you somewhere else," Steffan teased.
He didn’t know why but he had suddenly gotten addicted to speaking with her even if they argued most of the time.
"I’m not a loose woman, besides we are..."
Lauren didn’t get to finish her words as she was interrupted by a knock on the door and before any of them could react, it was pushed open and Dolly’s head popped in.
Her eyes quickly took in how close they stood together and the partially disheveled appearance of Lauren’s hair.
Added to the amused grin that was still etched on Steffan’s face she had a rough guess of what was going on.
A flash of surprise and hurt crossed her face, quickly replaced by a mask of professional indifference, though a flicker of jealousy still remained in her eyes.
Her eyes darted between Lauren and Steffan. "Am I interrupting something?" she asked, her voice strained with forced politeness as she stepped further into the room.
Lauren quickly stepped back, smoothing her hair and trying to regain her composure. "And what does it look like you were interrupting, doctor?" she retorted, her voice was flustered but with a sharp edge.
Dolly raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical. "Am I mistaken? But it looks like I walked in on something rather... personal."
Steffan’s grin faded slightly as he sensed the tension in the room. "Dolly, we were just talking," he said, his tone calm but with an undercurrent of defensiveness.
"Talking, right," Dolly replied, her voice dripping with sarcasm. She crossed her arms, giving Lauren a cold once-over.
"What’s it to you? Last I checked, you were just a doctor and not Steffan’s keeper," Lauren snapped.
Dolly’s lips twisted into a tight smile, barely concealing her anger. "Just concerned about a colleague, Lauren. No need to get defensive."
"However, you might want to fix your hair. It looks like you’ve been... busy."
Lauren’s cheeks flushed crimson, but her eyes narrowed in irritation.
