My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!-Chapter 501: The Truth Behind the Pool
"Do you think you can give her everything?" Caleb laughed coldly, "In reality, you don’t even know how ridiculous you truly are."
"Caleb, shut up," Melody Thorne spoke up.
From the start, Caleb had always said she’d die, die. She had already died once and been reborn; how could she just die again so quickly?
That obvious ’my man is not allowed to speak’ demeanor made Jared Quinn’s handsome brow crease with a slight smile. His large hand fondly pinched her little face.
Her little bossiness was also quite cute. The victory among men lay with him.
"I’m stating the facts," Caleb chuckled lightly, his gaze falling on the man guarding Melody in a protective stance. "A man who ignored her from the very beginning and always protected other women, now coming to protect her—don’t you find it laughable?"
Aloof glimmers appeared in Jared’s emotionless dark eyes, understanding that Caleb was referring to Ivy, "Not protecting, compensating?"
Back then, Ivy almost died saving him when he was unconscious in the pool and got injured in the process.
"Ha," Caleb found it even more laughable, his eyes on Melody. "Haven’t you told him the truth? Or are you just sparing his feelings, letting him think he’s always so noble?"
Melody felt a slight sense of dread creeping in, "I don’t understand what you’re talking about!"
She intentionally wanted to change the subject, but as clever as Jared Quinn always was, how could he let her change the topic? He had obviously caught on to something, his large hand lifting her chin, eyes piercing, "What truth?"
"I don’t know," Melody’s gaze dodged his, her arms wrapped around his waist, trying once more to steer the conversation away, "Has Harold Chapman arrived yet? Should we leave quickly?"
"I remember at a Quinn Family party, both you and Melody Thorne disappeared at the same time. Curious, I took a few looks and saw her dragging a man toward the poolside, blood flowing from her shoulder, only thinking about the man. If I wasn’t mistaken, she even performed CPR on you, right?"
Caleb made a point to speak, ignoring Melody’s attempt to change the topic.
Melody looked up, met by the deep gaze of Jared Quinn fixated squarely on her...
"Oh, right, Ivy went too, didn’t she? Not only did she persuade you to leave, but she also ended up with the same injury at the place where you were hurt, and then she replaced you, under Jared Quinn’s protection for so many years."
Caleb’s hands rested on the car’s edge, sarcastically regarding Melody, "You seem to have heeded her advice and got a scar removal surgery?"
"Enough, Caleb, shut up and get lost," Melody scolded angrily.
Ivy was already dead, so she never thought about bringing this up again, nor about telling Jared the truth, but today it was unexpectedly exposed!
What would Jared Quinn think later?
"I’ve said my piece, indeed time to shut up. Goodbye," Caleb took his coat from the car seat, closed the door, his gaze lingering on Melody as he turned to leave.
His mannerisms bore a resemblance to Jared Quinn.
Especially when they were scheming or their gestures or expressions.
And Melody, just happening to glare angrily at Caleb, caught that scene clearly.
Could it be that Caleb was somewhat similar to Jared Quinn?
