Chapter 255: Your Husband Is Here.

Before Shikera could reply, a knock resounded on the door and a startled nurse walked in just before Krystal could invite her in.

"What’s the problem?" Krystal asked, beckoning on the nurse to come closer to her, with her hand. The latter replied and went to stand beside Krystal, tiptoeing slightly to whisper in her ears.

"I can’t believe this, Dr. Alexander. A man in mask came here some minutes ago and was heading straight here to your office so I stopped him, since I’m aware you have an important visitor in your office," the nurse said, glancing briefly at Shikera’s face before proceeding, "He was alone and his eyes were the only thing I could see so I kind of felt scared because of his intimidating aura. But guess what? He asked me to tell you he’s Ethan DeLoach! I know it’s probably stupid of me to do this, but I think I believe him."

"Is that all?" Krystal asked.

The nurse nodded again. "Do I bring him in or ask him to wait until you are done with the Miss?" she asked.

"No, escort him in. And do not mention that I was with a female visitor," Krystal ordered.

"Yes, Doctor!"

The door closed gently behind the nurse, and Krystal turned to face Shikera,

"Your husband is here."

Shikera shot up from her seat, her eyes widening in shock. Her heart rate spiked up and began to beat fast, so fast that Shikera was beginning to think it was not normal. Why was she feeling this way even though it was just simple news that Ethan was around? She could not imagine how she would feel if he appeared in front of her.

"Wait!" Shikera snapped out of her reverie, "Why did he come here? Who told him I’m here? Or no, how come he is in the city? I thought—"

"If I were you, I’d be thinking of a good and comfortable place to hide before asking myself why Ethan is here," Krystal cut her off, a mischievous smile on her face.

"What? You won’t help me hide?" Shikera mumbled in disbelief.

Krystal shrugged nonchalantly, "I don’t care. Did I tell you another of my secret wishes is to see you and Ethan avoiding each other?"

Shikera scoffed, "What?!"

"You can’t blame me. I’m a very single doctor so it’s a totally normal thing for me to wish all other couples break up," Krystal laughed, sarcasm lacing her voice. "Won’t you go hide now?"

Cursing beneath her breath, Shikera stood up and walked over to Krystal’s desk to tuck herself under it. Below the desk was so spacious that she didn’t have to worry about getting her legs cramped by the time Ethan would leave.

"I came to see you."

The sound of the door opening coupled with Ethan’s voice which Shikera heard, caused her breath to hitch in her throat. She stopped moving under the desk as her heart began to beat faster and faster than it already was.

"Calm down, Kera. You must not get caught," she murmured inaudibly.

"Did Shikera come to see you?"

If she didn’t stop herself as soon as she could, Shikera would have hit her head on the roof of the desk at the speed with which she snapped her head up. Had she been right?! Did Ethan really find out she was here even though she arrived here only an hour ago?

Or was it Cyprian who told him? Or Esther? She doubted it was either of them. Shikera’s buzzing mind quieted down when Krystal started talking.

"She didn’t. If she had,I wouldn’t have let her leave."

Ethan was silent for a while, observing Krystal’s expression before speaking, "What do you want?"

"Why do you ask?" Krystal retorted.

"Because I want something from you too," he replied.

"Well, why don’t we take a pass on mine. I’ll ask later. What do you need me to do?" Krystal asked, a bright smile on her face. Just as she expected, Shikera was the key to getting freebies from Ethan DeLoach, her opposers biggest backing. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Will she be alright?"

Both Shikera and Krystal were confused. Ethan had suddenly asked that question out of the blue so they had no idea who the ’she’ there was referring to.

"Will who be alright?" Krystal asked.

"Shikera."

"Uh?"

Ethan sighed, "She has to be careful what she eats, what she drinks and her health doesn’t approve of her being in danger at all. She left home without proper preparations for all this so I’m worried. Will she be alright?"

Krystal was silent for a while as she struggled against the desire of pulling Shikera out from under the desk to face Ethan, and follow her husband back home.

"I uhm, I think she’ll be alright. No, I know she’s alright. Shikera’s not as stupid as she looks and...I’m sure she didn’t leave on a whim. She must have carefully planned it before deciding to leave us all," she stated.

"She did learn how to cook her own meals herself," Ethan supported, "I’ll leave now. Send in your request whenever you want."

Under the desk, Shikera waited until she had heard the door open and close before crawling out. She rose slowly to her feet, her face void of any expressions.

"Now, even if I were planning to give you the file or let you chose before, I can’t now. That man will kill me if he finds out you were here when he came. The only way to save my ass is to make sure he meets you hale and hearty!" Krystal’s voice broke into her thoughts.

"There’s no way I can do that, Krystal. The place I live now is so far from here that it would be more than stressful to make weekly journeys," Shikera explained, opposing her doctor’s idea.

"Then you should stop living there and come stay with me. It’s not like you have a family member there! And even if I give you the file to give a doctor, he won’t understand your system at all. Even i myself still get confused with your immune system at times!"

"It’s not as easy as you are saying, Krystal. Staying in this country at all is as risky as hell not to talk of staying in the same city as they are in."

Krystal shrugged, "That’s none of my business, Kera. All I know is if you want to save yourself and your baby, then you have to come meet me whenever I ask. By the way, what’s with Mignon? If she lost her memories, it explains why she was not found all this while but not how she got back here."

"I can call you and explain later," Shikera said. Retrieving her phone from her bag, she pushed it in Krystal’s hand and continued, "Your number. I can’t give you mine first for the fear that you’ll sell it to Ethan or Daddy!"

In the lobby, Ethan walked back to the nurse’s desk and tapped his hand on the table.

"Where’s the other Doctor Alexander office?" he asked.

"You are just coming from—"

Ethan cut her off, "The male doctor." He needed to see Kylian for a test of his own self too. Though he hadn’t been able to sleep well while he was over at the The Jordans, he expected to be able to do that when he got home. And he did. But it bothered him that he slept so well without nightmares.

Why? That was the question he had to ask Kyle.

"So Mr DeLoach, why would you uhm—"

"I like silence," Ethan interrupted her, showing that he didn’t appreciate her way of starting a conversation. She was surely brave.

"Alright, Sir," the nurse replied immediately. She wanted to ask if Dr Krystal was the one who had directed him to Doctor Leonard, since she could remember clearly Krystal’s warning for her not to tell the man of the visitor who was in the room. Since the visitor came with two other people who had followed Doctor Alexander, she was not sure if she was allowed to tell Ethan DeLoach about them. She didn’t want to offend either of her superior and Ethan DeLoach.

"Aren’t we supposed to use the elevator?" Ethan asked. Since Kyle was in a completely different department, he expected his office to be on a different floor so he was surprised that the nurse was leading him to an office on this same floor.

"No, Sir. We are almost at Dr Alexander’s office. Though he has visitors," she informed in a shaky voice.

They soon arrived at the doctor’s office where Ethan read the sign on the wall beside the door.

"This is Leonard Alexander’s office. I was talking about Kylian Alexander," he hissed in annoyance. Not annoyance at the nurse but at himself who forgot that there were three weird doctors in this one hospital with the same surname.

As he prepared to turn to leave, the door opened and Leonard together with his two visitors walked out.
