Chapter 81: [81]The Voidpiercer Dagger, Forging the Rift Carver

The penthouse was incredibly quiet and heavy. A few seconds ago, the luxurious living room had been swarming with elite assassins from the Evil Demons guild. Now, there was nothing left but the faint glow of blue pixels drifting lazily to the floor.

The heavy-caliber mana turrets outside the shattered windows powered down with a low mechanical whine.

First Minister Felix remained on his knees. He was trembling so violently that the polished armor he wore rattled against the floorboards. He stared at the empty space where his private death squad had just been standing. He didn’t even have the breath to scream.

His mind simply refused to process the math!

Vahn Ryker let out a long relaxed exhale and stretched his arms up over his head. He rolled his shoulders to ease the lingering tension from his muscles. The combat had been a nice one. He turned away from the terrified politician and offered a warm smile to the three women standing behind him.

"Well," Vahn said casually while brushing a stray speck of pixelated ash from his dark jacket. "That was a rather aggressive way to knock on our door."

Aria didn’t laugh. The Priestess practically sprinted across the room. Her heavy chest moved along with her breathing as she crashed directly into his personal space. Her delicate hands instantly glowed with a brilliant pink-gold restorative magic as she pressed them flat against his chest. The sweet scent of cherry blossoms immediately overpowered the acrid stench of vaporized code.

"You dropped the Faction wards to let them in!" Aria scolded. Her emerald eyes scanned his face with fierce scrutiny. She leaned in closer to check the stability of his mana pathways. "You intentionally invited ten Mythic-tier assassins into our living room just to prove a point! What if their stealth mechanics bypassed your turrets? What if they had spatial disruptors?"

Vahn didn’t step back. He actually found the proximity deeply comforting. He looked down at the beautiful Priestess with profound amusement in his eyes.

"I am perfectly fine, Aria," Vahn replied. His voice was soft and gentle, almost as though he was speaking to a lover. "The turrets were calibrated to a sub-millisecond response time. There was zero statistical probability of failure."

He paused and a teasing smirk touched the corner of his lips. "Though I must admit, your definition of a post-combat medical diagnostic always seems to require an awful lot of physical contact. Are you checking my vitals, or just looking for an excuse to hold me?"

Aria froze. The warm healing glow radiating from her palms flickered wildly. A brilliant flush of crimson spread across her cheeks and traveled all the way up to the tips of her ears. She yanked her hands back as if his chest plate had suddenly caught fire. She stumbled backward and nearly tripped over her own elegant robes.

"What?! I am performing standard party maintenance!" Aria shrieked. Her voice pitched up an octave as she frantically grabbed her wooden staff to ground herself. "You are the foundational anchor of this entire sanctuary! If your code unravels because of a stray dagger, we all die! Stop making my triage protocols sound like some sort of romantic overture! You are infuriatingly dense!"

From the safety of the ruined velvet sofa, Hana burst into a fit of high-pitched giggles. The younger girl kicked her legs in the air. "Oh, Sister-in-Law, you make it way too easy for him. He only uses the word statistical when he is genuinely enjoying himself. Just admit you were worried about him so his brain can stop trying to calculate the data."

"Hana Ryker!" Aria gasped as she hid her burning face behind her hands.

Sia Vance stood rigidly near the shattered doorway. She aggressively thumped her armored fist against her massive obsidian kite shield. She entirely ignored the banter and scanned the hallway with murderous intent.

"Commander. The immediate perimeter is secure. Shall I dispose of the treasonous asset, or do you require him for interrogation?"

Vahn chuckled and the sound vibrated warmly in his chest. "Stand down, Sia. Let him breathe for a moment."

He finally turned his attention back to Felix. The First Minister was still kneeling on the floor with his arrogant facade completely shattered. Lying just a few inches from the politician’s trembling fingertips was a jagged black crystal. It radiated a sickly corrupted purple aura that made the ambient mana in the room warp and distort.

"Snacks?" a tiny telepathic voice chimed in.

Kora dropped from the ceiling rafters and landed in a flawless crouch beside Vahn. She ignored Felix entirely. Her glowing gold slit-pupils locked onto the pulsing black crystal. She licked her lips and a small puff of golden flame escaped her mouth. "That looks like spicy candy, Master. Can I eat the spicy candy?"

"No, Kora," Vahn said gently. He placed a hand on her wild crimson hair to stop her from lunging forward. "That is an Abyssal Beacon. If you eat it, the data corruption will give you a terrible stomach ache."

Vahn stepped past his companion and crouched down. He picked up the jagged crystal. The moment his bare skin touched the artifact, an agonizing jolt of raw unformatted energy sparked against his palm. His Verdant Chronos-Sight flared to life, mapping the underlying wireframes of the object.

"This isn’t just a communication relay," Vahn murmured. His playful demeanor faded. "Felix didn’t just bring assassins. This is a Tier-6 summoning anchor. He was trying to tear a permanent rift in our sanctuary to physically bring the Demon Duke into the White City."

Aria gasped and her lingering embarrassment evaporated instantly. "A summoning anchor? Vahn, you have to destroy it! If it connects to the Starmark System, it will bypass the Hourglass barrier entirely!"

"I can’t just crush it, Aria," Vahn explained as his mind raced through millions of data points. "The spatial tether is already primed. If I shatter the physical casing, the stored kinetic energy will violently tear a hole in the localized physics engine. The rift will open automatically."

He stood up. His eyes narrowed as he analyzed the mathematical problem in front of him. His Soul-Bound Shadow Blade was a masterpiece of raw damage. But it was a blunt instrument when it came to dimensional physics. He needed a weapon that could actively sever the fabric of space-time before the rift could fully render.

"System," Vahn commanded.

A massive blue holographic interface materialized in the center of the room. It was densely packed with sliders and data nodes.

[Conversion Interface Opened]

↳ Target One: Soul-Bound Shadow Blade

↳ Target Two: Tier-6 Abyssal Beacon

↳ Request: Please allocate EXP for Mythic Spatial Synthesis.

Felix looked up. His eyes widened in sheer horror as he realized what Vahn was about to do. "You can’t! That is the Duke’s property! If you alter its code, the feedback will obliterate this entire building!"

"I dictate the feedback," Vahn stated smoothly without even looking at the politician. "Allocate thirty million experience points. Force a hyper-condensed dimensional evolution. Isolate the spatial tearing properties of the Beacon and bind them to the blade’s atomic structure. Execute."

The penthouse erupted in a blinding cataclysmic flash of golden and purple light.

Sia instantly threw herself forward. She planted her boots and raised her Mythic-tier obsidian shield to absorb the violent shockwave of raw data. Aria slammed her staff into the floor. A massive wave of restorative magic washed over Hana and Kora to protect them from the environmental distortion.

In the center of the storm, Vahn stood perfectly still. The sheer volume of raw data aggressively hammered the two objects together. The black crystal shattered. Its volatile spatial energy screamed as it was forcefully injected into the dark metal of the Shadow Blade. Vahn didn’t just reforge the weapon. He was writing entirely new physical laws into its edge!

The blinding light snapped out of existence.

Hovering in the air before Vahn was a breathtaking weapon. The dagger had elongated into a sleek curved short-sword.

[Item Crafted: The Voidpiercer Dagger]

Vahn casually plucked the weapon from the air. It weighed absolutely nothing. As he spun it in his hand, the blade left a faint distortion in the air.

"Now," Vahn smiled with a predatory expression. He turned his gaze back to Felix. "Let’s see what happens when your master tries to walk through my front door."

Felix scrambled backward until his back hit the wall. The sheer incomprehensible display of power had broken whatever sanity he had left. Driven by pure unadulterated desperation, Felix reached into his armor.

"If I can’t have this city, no one will!" he shrieked. He crushed a secondary hidden catalyst gem in his palm. "I offer my own data to the Abyss! Come forth, Lord Ethan!"

Vahn didn’t try to stop him. He just watched while his grip tightened on the Voidpiercer Dagger. The real fight was about to begin.
