"Just how stupid could you be!"

Raymond could not help but exhale in fear, in where he stood. His own bad news was much more worse than this one Cole just said.

As if Ethan could read his mind, he turned to Raymond and asked,"I hope you didn’t bring crappy news."

"Shit!" Raymond cursed under his breath, bracing himself for whatever hit would come his own way. Not like he could avoid the blow, kick or whatever it would be though.

"Spit it out, Ray."

"Uhm Ethan... Shikera is not with the chairman..." he stuttered.

"What are you even saying?" Ethan questioned impatiently. "Where is she?"

"That, I do not know. But Shikera...I think the chairman said something he was not supposed to have said to her. From what I heard, she got out of the car with tears in her eyes."

"What?!"

Raymond continued without even stopping to catch his breath, "I asked them to keep following her but..."

"Where is she?" the steely voice was back.

"She met with Skyler McCallum, so I think she went back home with her."

The room fell silent and Raymond could almost swear that he heard Ethan sigh in relief.

"Get yourself ready, Cole. We will go meet the god-damned man," Ethan suddenly said. He walked back to his desk and picked up a black facemask, turning to head out the door.

"Will...will he hurt his father too?" Cole asked Raymond, hesitating to follow after him. After all, he had been serving Chris DeLoach before Ethan DeLoach arrived. The latter could be said to be a little crazy though, so he hesitated a lot in offending him.

"Why are you asking me that? Do I look like I know how his mind works?" Raymond threw the question back. Shaking his head pitifully, he ran out the door after Ethan, only to stop dead in his tracks as soon as he got in the hallway.

Ethan was standing a few metres away from him, with a gun in hand. A gun! At this point, Raymond knew he had to stop him.

"Oh Ethan! That’s a gun there...what do you want to use it for?" he asked carefully. He was not ready to sacrifice himself just to quell Ethan’s anger.

"To plant," Ethan deadpanned. "Where is Cole?"

"Here, Sir!" Cole rushed out of the study to stand beside Raymond. His eyes widened when he caught sight of the gun and before he could hold himself back, his mouth had opened, "Will you kill your father, Sir?!"

"He is a civilian." He walked away immediately after saying that, and the other two scurried after him.

"Does that mean he would have killed his father if the man was not a civilian?" Cole whispered to Raymond.

"I don’t think that’s what we should worry about here. Who is the gun for if not his father?"

"Whoops! I just keep wondering why the military had to recruit him as a special officer. He can create special excuses on his own now!" Cole lamented.

By this time, they were already outside and were about to reach the parking lot when the sound of cars approaching reached their ears.

Ethan’s hand paused on the remote, turning in the direction of the approaching cars.

"Did Ruthlyn and Enoch arrive?" he asked.

"I’m not sure. I came straight to you when I arrived," Raymond answered. He could only hope that those two would not bring bad news with them. Ethan had intentionally pushed Shikera and Esther out of the house today so the rest of them could have an uninterrupted meeting, but everything seemed to have gone wrong.

The cars finally got into the garage with Ruthlyn and Enoch alighting at the same time. It was obvious that they did not leave the house together, as they greeted themselves with a peck on the cheek.

Ethan raised his brows, impatience gnawing at his chest. Raymond eyes rounded in surprise; had he suddenly turned into a relationship advisor too? It seemed the date he suggested to Enoch had worked.

Lastly, Cole was praying on behalf of Enoch for Ethan not to get annoyed. He would probably still be feeling pain on his chest from the blow Ethan gave him, if the latter had not personally trained him. But he was sure Enoch would die from that kind of blow.

"Your report?" Ethan asked, as soon as the two disentangled from themselves. It was obvious from the way they shared a surprised glance, that they had not known Ethan was there.

Enoch talked first, "I watched the movement of all members of the Mega families and everything was alright. No suspicious movements or actions; just that some are a little edgy because of news of the Jordans in town. I assured them it wasn’t true though."

When he finished talking, Enoch could not tell why he felt like everyone was now looking at him like a stupid person. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

"Enoch," Raymond decided to spare him the suspense. "The Jordans were really in town, but we caught them."

"What?! Does that mean Shikera really summoned them?"

"What do you mean by that?" Ethan asked.

"That’s the main fear all the Mega heads had. They were scared that The Jordans would be able to infiltrate using Shikera," Enoch informed.

"Fuck!" Ethan cursed. "Ruth, go check on her at her assistant’s place. Cole will come with me while the rest of you continue with your former assignments," he instructed.

"Alright, Sir. Do I have to call you this night?" Ruthlyn asked carefully. Of course she had seen the gun in his hand, so she had to ask if he would be unreachable all through the night.

"Just make sure she is okay...You don’t have to force her to come back home. I will come get her by myself," Ethan replied.

With that, he got into the car and turned the key in the car’s ignition. Cole had to run around to the other side, in order to get into the car. He wouldn’t put it past his boss to abandon him here.
