Chapter 3480: The Final Item

The auction had already gone on for multiple days now, and during this time, Alex had bid on 2 more items, winning them.

One was a pair of Divine grade gauntlets that reminded him of the ones his father used to wear. And the second was a beautiful female robe, which he could give to any of the few women in his family he was sure to visit soon.

The two items together ended up costing him a little over 4000 Divine spirit stones. With that sort of fortune, he could’ve bought the interrealm teleportation tickets 8 times over, as they usually cost 5 million Immortal spirit stones.

If it had been him who had just come to the Immortal realm, he would’ve been stunned at how much he had spent. And now, he had even more to spare.

Beyond that, he purchased nothing, and finally the auction reached the final few items.

The Mind-Stilling Mirror was capable of calming the minds of those that looked into it, making it incredibly easier for one to focus on a few different things.

Alex thought of purchasing it at first, but there were plenty of pills that could do the same, and with what he would likely have going on in the Divine realm, he wouldn’t need such an artifact.

The prince managed to buy the mirror for an absurdly high amount of 18 thousand Divine spirit stones. That was equivalent to 180 million Immortal spirit stones, which was how it was going to be paid most likely.

Divine spirit stones were more precious, as Divinities could cultivate using them and use different formations and artifacts, so they rarely completed any transactions with Divine spirit stones directly.

The next item being auctioned off was a Divine grade chalice capable of converting the blood of anyone poisoned into an antidote.

With the chalice in hand, one could almost always be ready to deal with any poisons, venoms, and toxins. The two major downsides were that it didn’t work with every toxin, but enough to be worth purchasing.

And perhaps worse, it only worked with the blood of the person that had refined the artifact. As such, one couldn’t use the artifact to help someone else unless they themselves first consumed the same toxin as well.

Despite the two downsides, people jumped at the chance to bid on such an incredible artifact. The golden chalice with several gems crusted around its outside easily reached 20 thousand Divine spirit stones and beyond, finally coming to a close at 24 thousand spirit stones.

Alex could only watch the entire dealing with a shake of his head, amazed at how much fortune each person carried with them.

He had that sort of fortune too, but not in spirit stones. He had pills, ingredients, and other items of equivalent value, which was easily in the 100 thousand Divine spirit stones range right now. But in spirit stones themselves, he had maybe 10 thousand.

At this point, Alex understood in no uncertain terms that the auction had gone beyond his capacity to participate. Right now, he was there just to watch.

The next item, which if one were to go by what was publicized, would’ve been the final item. But the owner had already alluded to the fact that there was more.

The dragon egg, descended from the Yellow Dragon, ended up being sold for 35 thousand Divine spirit stones. According to the auctioneer, that was the highest anyone had ever paid for anything in the history of the Grand Spiral Auction House.

And to many people’s surprise—and to no surprise to others—a final item was brought out before the audience.

As the table rolled onto the stage, the tension in the room was palpable. An item beyond the mirror that could help anyone learn Daos and Axioms, beyond the chalice that could undo poisons, and beyond the egg of a beast whose ancestor was a primordial was being presented on the stage.

Even Alex couldn’t help but be curious at this point, despite there being no way to purchase the item that was about to be auctioned off. Could he maybe sell some of the Divine grade poison plants quickly to make up the funds? He could perhaps even ask the prince, assuming the man didn’t want it for himself.

The table came to a stop, and the old auctioneer stepped forward, pulling away the Heavenly Silkthread-woven red veil that covered the item.

And he revealed... a book.

It was a short book, seemingly handmade, from the looks of it.

"A book?" the royal guard in the room spoke with a puzzled look. "Is that some sort of record?"

"No, a record wouldn’t possibly be the best item sold in an auction like this one," the Reverend corrected her. "This can only be..."

"A technique," the prince finished.

Alex could make out the simple book, but there was nothing written on the spine or the cover, so he was left wondering what sort of technique it could be.

"It’s too short to be a cultivation technique, right?" Alex asked.

"Yes. It must be a skill then," the prince said. "I wonder what sort of skill it could be to be placed this late in the auction."

Everyone was similarly curious.

The auctioneer, knowing he would gain the ire of everyone waiting should he keep them in suspense any longer, spoke up.

"This is our final item," the man said. "It is a technique called the Vortex of Perfection."

Alex blinked for a moment. Did he hear that right? That technique...

"This is the single greatest pill-making technique that has come through this auction house, boasting perfect pill formation each time it is used," the auctioneer said.

Hearing those words, he nearly stood up from his chair.

’That’s my technique,’ he thought in surprise. ’How did it...’

His eyes narrowed as he understood the possibility. First the sword, now the technique. No doubt, he would have to meet the seller as soon as possible.
