Chapter 263: Indecent Activities [18+]

Violet

A day before the outing with Rowan, I found myself walking through an unfamiliar part of the capital with Nessa.

I had taken Nessa’s offer a few days ago to show me around the city during the day, and at night, I continued my studies on lycan history.

I was slowly warming up to her, and I had let it slip the day I’d be spending with Rowan, which Nessa called a date.

That was my first mistake.

What had started as another innocent outing, turned into something else. Nessa had suggested we explore a ’fascinating’ area I hadn’t seen yet, and I had agreed without much thought.

That was my second mistake.

The streets had a strange look to them that was far different from the others. The buildings here were brighter, gaudier, with coloured lanterns hanging from balconies and laughter spilling from open windows. The air smelled different too, heavy with perfume and a faint scent that followed us everywhere.

Arousal...

"Nessa," I said slowly, stopping in my tracks. "Where are we?"

She glanced back at me, her smile entirely too innocent.

"Just a different district of the capital," she said lightly. "Don’t worry. It’s perfectly safe."

I looked around, taking in the suggestive artwork on some of the signs, the women and men lounging in doorways in clothing that left very little to imagination.

Worst of all were the slight moans that came from some buildings.

My stomach dropped.

The lack of any children on the streets should have been my first sign as to what kind of place this was.

"What is this place?" I quickly rushed to Nessa’s side, my eyes darting around. "Should we—"

"Oh, relax." She looped her arm through mine before I could pull away. "We’re not doing anything scandalous. I just want to show you something."

"I don’t want to see anything here!"

I have underestimated just how crazy she was.

"Trust me. I think you just might thank me later."

I very much doubted that.

But Nessa was already pulling me toward a building that looked slightly more respectable than the others, if anything in this area could be called respectable.

"Besides, if you notice anything bad, you can easily overpower me or another person here." She smiled wryly. "Though, I’m certain Rowan would destroy me if anything were to happen to you."

I stared at her.

"Before we go in," she said, pausing at the door, "let me ask you something."

"What?"

"Have you been intimate with Rowan yet?"

My mouth hung open.

I couldn’t believe she was asking that, and I felt foolish for even being so surprised by it.

"That is none of your business!" I nearly screeched.

Nessa sighed and shook her head. "Fine, fine. I’ll stop. I guess that is a no. I think you could benefit from some education." She grinned.

"Education?!"

She pulled me through the door before I could protest further.

The interior was dimmer than I expected. Plush furnishings lined the walls, and soft music drifted from somewhere deeper inside... along with the occasional moaning. I frowned, tuning out the background noise completely.

A secluded alcove held a counter, and behind it sat an older woman with sharp eyes and an unreadable expression.

Nessa approached her with easy familiarity, speaking in low tones while I stood frozen, watching.

Coins exchanged hands. The woman produced two masks that would cover the upper half of our faces.

Then Nessa turned and pressed one into my hands.

I stared at it like it might bite me.

"Put it on," she said.

"I don’t think we should be here."

"Violet." Her voice softened, losing some of its teasing edge. "I’m not trying to embarrass you. I promise. We won’t participate in anything. We are just here to observe. And if you hate what you see, we can leave immediately."

I wanted to refuse. Every instinct screamed at me to turn around and walk away.

But immense curiosity which was buried under my mortification rooted me in place.

I had a vague feeling I knew exactly what she wanted us to watch, but I might be wrong and it could just be something else.

But the mask was not helping matters.

"You are wasting my time," the old woman croaked. "Do you mind?"

Nessa sighed, taking the mask and slipping it on my face.

Nessa’s smile was triumphant and she tied her own mask in place. A younger woman appeared to escort us deeper into the building.

We passed through dim corridors lined with closed doors. My face heated as I sensed the presences behind some of them.

Oh no... this was really a sex house.

What exactly did Nessa gain by bringing me here? And was this something she frequented?!

The escort stopped at one door among many and opened it.

The room beyond was darker than the corridor. Rows of raised seats curved in a semicircle, each level higher than the one before. Only three other masked figures occupied the seats, their attention fixed on the stage below.

On that stage, at the bottom of the room, bathed in soft light, was a large, flat, circular bed covered in cushions and silk sheets.

And on it were two people. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

A man and a woman.

They were...

I stopped breathing.

The woman was kneeling between the man’s legs, her head moving in a slow, deliberate rhythm. Her mouth was wrapped around his—

I looked away sharply, my face burning so hot I thought my skin might actually catch fire.

"Nessa!" I hissed in a low tone, gripping her wrist tight to prevent her from going any further.

"Breathe," Nessa whispered beside me, amusement in her voice. "Come, come."

I forced myself to look back. Not because I wanted to, but...

Oh, why did she even bring me here?!

Nessa pressed forward, pulling me along. This room was a bit quiet and the only other people in the room were spaced apart, their rapt attention focused on what was happening in front of them.

My heart rammed against my ribcage as my feet reluctantly followed Nessa.

We found a seat very close to the front and I dropped myself on a seat, reluctant to look back and see if the three people were watching me for some strange paranoid reason.

Nessa crossed her legs, a faint smile on her lips as she rested her elbow on the armrest of the seat, and placed her chin on her hand.

She had all of a sudden lost interest in me.

I slowly shifted my attention to the stage at the low moan.
