The Villainess Winning Back Her Beast Husbands-Chapter 120: In Heat, You Can Only Be Mine
The Beastman mating season was a biological cycle that all adult Beastmen went through during the rainy season.
It went without saying for males with a female master; they would spend this period with her. As a result, tribes would often experience a baby boom after the rainy season.
As for single males without a female master, their situation was miserable. The mating season was an ordeal, and their urges would intensify to an unbearable degree, especially when stimulated by the pheromones of the females in the tribe. It was akin to being on drugs.
However, her Beast Husbands were all tough enough to have endured the mating season on their own, time and time again.
Back in the Oasis Tribe, the original Evangeline had scorned them, and they had hated her to the bone. Every rainy season, they would rather self-harm, using pain to overcome their urges, than ever submit and beg her for pleasure.
Yet Lachlan, the only one the original Evangeline had any interest in, wouldn’t even deign to spare her a glance.
Females, too, had a mating season, and their physiological reactions were far more intense than those of the males.
In the original story, this was when the original Evangeline accidentally formed a Contract with The Everwake, someone she looked down on.
When Evangeline nonchalantly brought up the "mating season," it was as if even the downpour outside froze for a moment.
The men all stopped what they were doing and looked up at her, their vibrantly colored eyes glowing faintly in the dim light.
Amber Beast Eyes filled with raw seduction, dark green slit pupils contracted into a thin line with excitement, grayish-brown eyes remained cool and clear but shimmered with a liquid light, while a pair of violet eyes narrowed dangerously in the dead silence.
Their gazes seemed to take on physical form, wrapping around Evangeline like a damp, tangled web.
Evangeline leaned against the window, watching this little hunting game with great interest.
She was finally getting a taste of the thrill The Tyrant King must have felt when choosing his concubines.
Ever since she’d been forced to take on this mission, she had been constrained at every turn. But now, she was finally making some progress. Her gaze drifted between the pairs of uniquely colored Beast Eyes, feeling the thrill of a predator surveying her prey.
’Though I can’t quite start my retirement life just yet, these next few days will be a decent reward, I suppose.’
"Bah! You fickle, vicious female!"
Just when she was enjoying the moment, someone just had to pop up at the worst time to make their presence known.
The Everwake was struggling to his feet out of the muddy water, specks of filth clinging to his pale cheeks. The demonic butterfly patterns on his skin swirled with light, making his rainbow-colored eyes shine with a terrifying intensity as he glared at Evangeline with utter disgust.
"Heh—"
The corners of Evangeline’s long eyes lifted as she propped her chin on her hand. "Open your eyes and take a good look. These are all my Beast Husbands. Old love is like aged wine. I happen to be the most faithful female on the entire Beastman Continent, so how could I possibly be fickle?"
The Everwake’s sinister gaze swept over these "old acquaintances," and he felt his throat tighten.
’He truly couldn’t understand. Since a Virago like Evangeline had been cruel enough to abandon them, why go through the trouble of finding every single Beast Husband she’d personally pushed away? What was her game?’
’And these idiots had completely lost their minds, like moths stuck in honey, throwing their lives away for her!’
’This female, with her posturing and seductive teasing, was even more disgusting than when she’d been whipping people to death!’
"Alright, hurry up and build the shelter," Evangeline instructed. She then turned and took out a variety of rare ingredients, planning a group barbecue for the evening. It was time to show these clueless guys a thing or two and build some camaraderie!
’It might not be a grand reunion of all seven of us, but five is a good start. That’s worth celebrating.’
Evangeline went back inside. The males, for reasons unknown, exchanged a look. An undercurrent of tension passed between them, and though no one said a word, their movements became swifter and more efficient, as if they were all secretly competing.
Nix’s expression remained cold and detached, a frosty glint flashing through his violet eyes.
His chilling gaze swept over each of them. The brilliant Nine-star pattern on his forehead flickered for an instant before he abruptly clenched his fist, turned, and went back into the bamboo house. With a dull THUD, the door shut, cutting him off from the outside world.
A dark gleam flickered in Thorne’s deep green pupils, a grim hostility faintly visible within them.
’He didn’t like this Nix, either.’
’One body hiding two completely different souls—it was an unheard-of, bizarre situation. On top of that, he was a Plant Beastman. It was too dangerous for Eva to be around someone like that.’
As if a thought occurred to him, his dark green, slit pupils shot a cold glance at Caden Albright. With a flick of his snake tail, he tossed all the new bamboo in front of him and said coldly, "Reach the Nine-star Extreme Realm as soon as you can."
After speaking, however, Thorne felt a wave of frustration well up inside him.
’He had only just achieved his Seven-star Pattern and was still a long way from eight stars. Otherwise, why would he pin all his hopes of countering that bizarre Plant Beastman on Caden Albright?’
Caden Albright lifted his eyelids, the corners of his narrow eyes curving into a careless smile. "Eva’s already told us to hurry. Aren’t you going to get to work on the shelter?"
Seeing that he hadn’t understood his meaning at all, a flash of impatience and disdain crossed Thorne’s eyes.
’This fox! So clever when it comes to vying for favor, yet so stupid when it actually matters!’
He ignored Caden Albright, the dark light in his eyes receding. He made a firm decision: after the rainy season, he would hunt diligently and use Beast Cores to temper his own power. Only when he reached the Nine-star Extreme Realm could he truly be at ease.
Caden Albright watched Thorne walk away, his long, fox-like eyes drooping slightly, his gaze hidden beneath thick lashes.
He continued to work, his long, jade-like fingertips stained with damp earth. Yet he didn’t look disheveled in the slightest; instead, the dirt only served to accentuate the snowy-white of his hands.
’Even without Thorne’s words, The Everwake’s power of bewitchment had already served as the gravest of warnings.’
’Eva was gathering them all back for her own unspoken reasons.’
’There wasn’t much he could do, except stay by her side and be her sharpest blade or her strongest shield.’
’Whatever she wanted, he would achieve it for her.’
「Inside the bamboo house.」
When Nix pushed the door open, he saw Evangeline with her head bowed, cutting meat at a table laden with all kinds of food.
He paused, a flicker of confusion in his violet eyes. "What are you doing?"
Evangeline didn’t stop, the blade of her knife reflecting the curve of her eyes as she looked up with a smile. "I’m preparing something good for you all to eat."
Hearing the word "all," a flash of displeasure crossed Nix’s violet eyes.
He approached her silently, a chill wind seeming to follow him. Without a word, he simply stared at her, filling the air with an invisible pressure.
"What is it?" The hand Evangeline held the knife with froze as she looked at Nix with a half-smile.
Nix’s hand suddenly clamped around her slender waist. A glint of cold light flashed from the blade as she pressed it against his abdomen.
He paid it no mind, however, merely leaning in to whisper by her ear, his hot breath laced with a dangerous rasp. "The mating season... you can only be mine."
The corner of Evangeline’s eye twitched, and a smile touched her lips, but it didn’t reach her eyes.
She allowed Nix to keep his hold on her waist. Turning her head to look at him, her black hair brushed against his flushed lips. Her voice was still as charming and flirtatious as ever. "Have you forgotten what I said? I... only dote on the one who can get me pregnant."
Veins bulged on the back of Nix’s hand, his knuckles straining into a deathly white arc.
A chilling, dark light churned in his violet eyes, and the dark fragrance from his body coiled around Evangeline’s neck like a vine. His low, hoarse voice sounded as if it had crawled out of hell itself. "Why?"
Evangeline’s red lips parted slightly. She placed her cool fingertips over Nix’s eyes, her voice as light as a sigh. "I have things I must do, too, Nix. Since you’ve already accepted them staying here, please, take one more step back."
