Chapter 387: Chapter 385: Saw Two Snail Girls

When Xue Yang woke up, he saw two beautiful women bustling about in the kitchen.

He blinked hard, then blinked again. Whoa, did I get up too fast? Am I actually seeing a Snail Girl? And two of them, at that!

Si Wen, wearing an apron that didn’t quite fit her figure, walked out of the kitchen holding a green vegetable. "You certainly got up too fast, but you’re not seeing a Snail Girl. You’re seeing this young miss. Well? Are you moved?"

Xue Yang replied with a straight face, "I dare not move."

Si Wen’s temper flared. She raised the vegetable, looking like she was about to throw it at him. Xue Yang spun around and fled into the bathroom to wash up.

"You’re lucky you’re fast," Si Wen muttered indignantly before returning to the kitchen to continue washing vegetables.

This is way too much work. I have no idea why Lin Xi enjoys this so much. If it were up to me, wouldn’t it be easier to just have someone deliver the ingredients and cook for us?

By the time Xue Yang came out of the bathroom, an array of fragrant dishes was already on the table: a pot of lotus root, carrot, and pork rib soup; broccoli stir-fried with shiitake mushrooms; oil-braised prawns; stir-fried crab sticks; the salt-baked chicken they’d brought from home; and a plate of simple greens.

It was a lavish spread, and Xue Yang was stunned. He knew Lin Xi had learned to cook, but he never expected she could make so many dishes. Not only did everything look and smell incredible, but they were also basically all his favorite foods. To say he wasn’t moved would be a lie.

Too bad there’s a third wheel here, otherwise...

"Xue Yang, it’s time to eat," Lin Xi said sweetly as she placed the last bowl on the table.

Third wheel or not, Xue Yang didn’t care. He cupped Lin Xi’s pretty face and planted a resounding smooch on her crimson lips.

Si Wen squeezed her eyes shut, unable to watch. "Hey! Have some consideration for the single dog in the room, will you?"

"We’re just taking care of you, our resident single dog, by turning you into a professional shipper," Xue Yang retorted. "How about it? Aren’t we a great ship?"

Si Wen came to a realization. Xue Yang was becoming more and more of a rogue, and the worst part was, Lin Xi seemed to be enjoying it. I can’t take this anymore.

"Let me see how good this is," Xue Yang said, sitting down. He picked up a piece of broccoli with his chopsticks and popped it into his mouth.

"So? It’s delicious, right?" Si Wen prompted. "This young miss contributed, you know."

"It’s excellent. I’ll reward you both with a big chicken drumstick."

"Who needs your reward? I can get one myself," Si Wen shot back, sitting down and starting to eat.

"Perfect. Saves me the trouble," Xue Yang said, placing a large drumstick in Lin Xi’s bowl. "Here, Xiao Xi. If that’s not enough, I’ll give you the other one later."

Hearing this, Si Wen quickly snatched the other drumstick and put it in her own bowl. "This one’s mine now!"

Lin Xi could only smile helplessly at their constant bickering.

The three of them ate with great gusto until they were all stuffed. Si Wen was so full she didn’t want to move an inch.

This is why I love coming to see Lin Xi and Xue Yang. When I’m here, it feels like I’m actually living. Back at my own home, I’m just... existing.

"You two worked hard," Xue Yang said as he stood up to clear the plates. "Go rest on the sofa. I’ll take care of the rest."

"I’ll help, too," Lin Xi said, starting to get up as well.

"Oh, stop fussing over him," Si Wen interjected, pulling her back. "You’ve been busy all morning. Come on, relax. Play some games with me."

Xue Yang smiled at Lin Xi. "Go on."

Only then did Lin Xi join Si Wen on the sofa.

"Come on, come on, log in! I’ve been so swamped with work I haven’t had any time to play. I’m going all out today!" Si Wen took out her phone and sent a message to her girls’ group chat, but they were all traveling abroad and claimed they had no time to play.

"What’s so great about America, anyway?" she muttered. "I got bored of that place years ago."

"Come on, Xiao Xi. Let’s play a round first. We can drag Xue Yang in later to carry us and boost our rank. His skills are insane." Si Wen pulled Lin Xi closer.

Having worked hard for half the day, Lin Xi did want to unwind, so she picked up her own phone and logged into the game. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Suddenly, Si Wen asked, "Hey, where’s Xue Yang’s phone? I want to use his account; his gear is more complete."

The truth was, Si Wen’s own account was number one on the server’s top-up leaderboard; she was a total whale. Her problem was a pure lack of skill, which was why she could never climb the ranks.

Lin Xi went into the bedroom and came back with Xue Yang’s phone. "Here."

"Hey, can you unlock it for me first?"

Lin Xi took the phone back, unlocked it, and handed it over again.

Si Wen set her own phone aside and took Xue Yang’s. "Alright, let’s get on!" After logging in, she scrolled through Xue Yang’s friend list and found Xue Xing’s account. It showed he hadn’t been online in a long time. With final exams coming up, that guy must be buried in his books. Oh well, I’ll spare him for now.

She created a party and invited Lin Xi. "Let’s do this!"

The two dove into the battle, ready for a slaughter—or to be precise, they were the ones getting slaughtered. It was so bad they were getting killed under their own towers, completely unable to fight back.

Meanwhile, Xue Yang was in the kitchen, washing the clattering dishes. Once he finished, he also mopped the floor.

"Is the marksman an idiot? All he does is farm jungle camps instead of pushing the lane!"

"And is our jungler stupid? He’s only killing small jungle monsters and won’t even start the Dragon!"

Si Wen’s furious shouts echoed from the living room from time to time, adding a strange sort of liveliness to the cozy apartment.

By the time Xue Yang had finished all the chores, their game had also, mercifully, ended. Si Wen looked like she was about to have an aneurysm. Seeing Xue Yang take a seat, she shoved his phone back at him. "Xue Yang, quick! We just got totally wrecked. We need you to help us get our revenge! You’re the only good jungler. Every other one I get is a bigger idiot than the last!"

Xue Yang went to the bathroom to wash his hands again. He returned to the sofa, picked up his phone, and said simply, "Get online."

Si Wen immediately flashed him an OK sign. He had only said two words, but they felt like a magic spell, instantly convincing her that victory was guaranteed.

Lin Xi’s eyes sparkled as well, filled with light as she watched him. She’d been upset about losing, but with Xue Yang here, she wasn’t afraid anymore.

Xue Yang created a new game lobby, invited both Lin Xi and Si Wen, and started the match.

"Xiao Xi, you pick Yao," Xue Yang told Lin Xi.

"Then what should I pick?" Si Wen asked immediately.

"Whatever you like. Just coast."

Si Wen was speechless. He tells Xiao Xi to pick Yao, but I can just pick ’whatever’? Coast, is it? Fine! I’ll show you what coasting looks like!

For the entire game, Si Wen picked Daji and went into full-on freeloader mode. Normally, Yao was the hero universally recognized as the freeloader pick. When the match began, their other teammates were already complaining why someone would pick a freeloader support like Yao when there were so many other options.

But once the game started, they discovered that the mage, Daji, was the real troll. She stupidly tried to steal camps from their own jungler. And not only did she try to steal them, she actually got killed by the neutral monsters.

"Daji, if you don’t know how to play, just quit and go get a job at a factory!" their marksman, Marco Polo, couldn’t help but rage in the chat.
