Chapter 92: Growing Affection (2)

It was the first time Noah had met his elder brother, and he couldn’t help but hide behind Adrienne once he saw the man seated in a wheelchair. He shrieked when he met Lennox’s gaze. Meanwhile, Abigail had dropped by to visit her son, not expecting to meet the young Noah that day. Her eyes curved as she saw Noah’s chubby, cute face, then turned to look at her son.

"Are you sure this boy isn’t yours, Nox? He looks like you when you were younger." She teased Lennox, who immediately scowled once he heard his mother’s remark.

"Mom, that isn’t a good joke at all." He grimaced, "There’s no way I looked like him."

Adrienne couldn’t stop the smile from spreading on her lips, seeing Lennox’s reaction upon meeting Noah for the first time. He knew of their resemblance. They could easily pass as father and son, considering their ages. However, knowing that Noah was his father’s child with another woman surely didn’t sit well with Lennox.

"Don’t scowl, Len. You will scare the child." She commented instead, earning a curious gaze from Abigail. Abigail never heard anyone call her son ’Len’ aside from Adrienne. She wondered how deep their bond was now for them to regard each other like this. Abigail wouldn’t be surprised if this young lady had already smote Lennox.

"I didn’t expect you to be this fast, Miss Jiang." Abigail said. "It felt like it was only yesterday when we last met, but you’ve already found two children since then."

"I just got lucky, Miss Li, and please, feel free to call me Adrienne or Addie." Adrienne patted Noah’s head, still clinging to her, but was looking curiously at Lennox.

"If I were to call you Addie, then maybe you should start calling me ’Mom’ too, considering we’ll be family soon."

Adrienne only smiled in response. Even when she was married to Alistair Han in her previous life, she only called Myrtle’s mom Aunt Stella and not Mom. She was surprised at how easy it was for Abigail to accept her as her daughter-in-law, considering the deal she made with Lennox. They would force Adrienne to leave their son if it were another overprotective mother.

Samantha arrived at that moment, her face beaming with a wide smile as soon as she saw Adrienne. Her smile faltered slightly when she saw a young child clinging to her favorite sister-in-law.

"Whose child is this?" She asked Adrienne curiously, but she knew the child’s identity.

"Sam, this is your younger brother. His name is Noah. He’ll be living here with you and Lennox from now on. Be good to him." Adrienne replied. She wasn’t sure how Samantha viewed her siblings, considering she had avoided being in the same room with Lennox. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"He’s so young. I can’t believe our old man still managed to father such a child." Samantha said with a straight face. "He looks like you, though." She told Lennox without batting an eyelid. It was rare for her to speak to Lennox like this.

Lennox looked dangerously at her, but Samantha didn’t flinch and ignored him. Instead, she held onto Adrienne’s arm and smiled at her. The scene before him was giving Lennox a headache.

"When will Sister Addie move in with us to live? This place is really boring when you’re not around." Samantha complained to Adrienne.

That immediately took Noah’s attention, and he slightly tugged Adrienne’s hand to get her attention.

"Sister Addie would live with us too?" He asked with his round eyes, looking at her expectantly.

Adrienne hummed and gently pinched his cheek.

"Of course! Where do you think Sister Addie would live once I married your brother? We can’t possibly live in different homes."

"Then what are you waiting for?! Quick! Get married and live with us, Sister Addie!" Samantha exclaimed.

"Addie can’t marry your brother unless they get her parents’ permission, Sam," Abigail answered for Adrienne instead. "She can only marry him on her own terms once she turns twenty-one. By then, Addie won’t need to ask for her parent’s permission to marry."

The smile on Samantha and Noah’s faces fell. They both knew that Adrienne was only eighteen, three years would be a long time to wait. Why couldn’t she just marry their brother the soonest anyway? They both thought.

"Does that mean we need to wait that long before she can live with us?" Samantha grumbled, but loud enough for Noah to hear.

"Sister Addie, I’ll help you count the days! The teacher has taught us how to count at school!" The young boy eagerly said. He didn’t know the concept of years yet and assumed Adrienne only needed to sleep a few more nights before she turned twenty-one.

Abigail laughed behind her hand, seeing the interaction between Adrienne and the children. She leaned slightly to her son and whispered, "The children aren’t willing to live with you unless Addie comes here?"

"What do you expect, Mom?" Lennox sighed. "They are like ducklings following the Mother Duck."

"Then what a good mother duck she is. If this persists, the only way to make the children obey is to use Addie."

Lennox looked at Adrienne and the two children. He wouldn’t be surprised if the rest of the children would cling to his future wife like this too. However, he didn’t want to upset them by revealing that he and Adrienne would eventually divorce after two years of marriage.

"Is there no other way around? I don’t want to disappoint them once Addie and I decide to part ways," he asked his mother.

Abigail merely shrugged, but could already predict that the children would be thoroughly devastated once he and Adrienne decided to divorce. She believed it was impossible for them not to grow any affection and attachment to each other.

Lennox might have noticed it, but he’d be at a disadvantage if he falls for Adrienne Jiang. The young woman before them was as cold as a frozen lake in winter, and Lennox would need a lot of effort to thaw her frozen heart.
