Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord-Chapter 2108: Revenge
Suddenly learning the news that his Mother Consort was murdered, the Second Prince was in a state of chaotic confusion, both heartbroken and enraged, feeling helpless.
The Second Prince weakly waved Xiao Wen away, saying, "Leave me, I need some time to calm down."
Xiao Wen attempted to console him: "Second Prince, you need to take things a little easier."
The Second Prince shouted irritably, "Out."
"Yes."
Left with no choice, Xiao Wen stepped out.
The steward was guarding outside the door, and upon seeing him exit, he quietly asked, "What did you say to the Second Prince?"
Both of them being close to the Second Prince, there was no need to hide the truth, so Xiao Wen recounted the conspiracy and scheme of the Empress to kill the son and seize the mother.
The steward’s eyes widened in shock; the Empress had always seemed so kind to the Second Prince, it was unimaginable she would commit such a heinous act behind his back.
Looking at the tightly shut door, the steward asked, "How is the Second Prince doing inside?"
Xiao Wen whispered, "Having just learned the truth, he’s overwhelmed and on the verge of collapse. We shouldn’t disturb him, let the Second Prince have some time to cool down."
The steward furtively glanced around, lowering his voice, "This matter must be kept confidential. Otherwise, the Second Prince will surely be in danger, given the Empress has her spies in the residence."
Xiao Wen nodded: "Indeed, the Second Prince only has us left. We must protect him well to honor the spirit of the Consort in heaven."
The Second Prince lay in his room for several days and nights without emerging, with even his meals being passed through the door by the steward.
One day, just as the steward was about to pass breakfast inside, the door opened; the Second Prince, fully dressed and full of spirit, stood before him.
"Second Prince."
The steward, who had been squatting on the ground, raised his head at the sound of the opening door, unexpectedly seeing the Fourth Prince emerge, stunned. Ever since learning the truth, the Second Prince had been so despondent, not seeing anyone. He and Xiao Wen were worried about how to help the Second Prince out of his slump, only to find that the Second Prince had emerged on his own.
Clad in riding attire, the Second Prince appeared scholarly and elegant, his hair tied with an intricately decorated gold crown, his black sleeves edged with bright yellow satin, exuding a dynamic aura.
"Second Prince, you finally came out."
"Hmm."
After pondering in the room for a few days, the Second Prince had it all figured out: the Empress had killed his Mother Consort because the Fourth Prince had been deposed — she wanted his assistance to eventually ascend to the position of Empress Dowager.
Since his Mother Consort was already dead, the Fourth Prince would not have a good outcome either. He would find a way to ensure the Fourth Prince remained disabled, and with no alternative, the Empress would certainly continue to support him to ascend to Crown Prince, and on the day of his success, would be the Empress’s demise.
"Second Prince, in your attire, where are you planning to go?" The steward was somewhat worried. In just a few days, the Second Prince seemed fine, could he be planning something dangerous?
"Horseback riding! Haven’t been out in days, feeling a bit stiff, it’s time for me to practice well." The Second Prince was skilled in martial arts and occasionally enjoyed horseback riding outside the city to relax.
Hearing this, the steward sighed in relief, as long as the Second Prince wasn’t going to the Imperial Palace to seek revenge on the Empress.
"Second Prince, revenge can wait, we must plan thoroughly and carefully."
The Second Prince paused, turning to look at the steward: "What nonsense are you spouting? This Prince is perfectly fine, who would I seek revenge on?"
"Second Prince, you...!"
The steward was somewhat bewildered; the Consort had been killed by the Empress, so why did the Second Prince seem as if nothing was wrong? Didn’t he intend to avenge the Consort?
