Chapter 312: The Village 3

Luciano sneered. He did not expect that Stephane recognized him despite the difference in his appearance.

"You know Luciano?" Princess Amaya turned sideways to face Stephane. When Marx first disguised himself to act as Amaya’s bodyguard, he used the identity of Zander. He thought that name sounded foreign so he changed it to Luciano and kept Zander as his second name.

"He made a mistake and forgot to mask his voice. I could recognize his voice anywhere." Stephane replied sarcastically. He glared hatefully at Luciano before focusing on the food before him.

Princess Amaya suddenly felt that she was sandwiched between two ice blocks. She cast a sideways glance at Stephane. Despite the effort to control it, she could feel his hate radiating.

’Why does he hate Marx so much?’ Amaya pondered.

A commotion from the entrance of the community hall distracted her from her thoughts. When she lifted her head to look at the entrance, she saw Fiona Chase with her two assistants followed by a cameraman and a bodyguard.

Fiona Chase paused and scanned the area, her gaze resting on their table. She then walked with an air of confidence and arrogance that defined the daughter of a seasoned politician. She occupied the seat opposite Princess Amaya. Her assistant sat beside her while the young girl Manna, stood behind her. She was clearly treated as a servant, not an assistant.

Disgust disappeared on Fiona’s face when she looked at the spread on the makeshift table made from bamboo. The tablecloth was made from banana leaf. It covered the entirety of the long table. The rice, braised pork, roasted chicken, deep-fried duck, steamed river shrimp, and steamed fish were placed directly on the banana leaf. They were carefully arranged and with the addition of a few greens, they looked appetizing.

There were no plates but each was provided with a wooden cutlery that resembled a scoop with two fork-like tines.

The village chief said a few words and then invited everyone to eat. He occupied the vacant seat at the head of the table where Princess Amaya was sitting beside Luciano.

Princess Amaya took the spork in front of her but before she could reach out to get food from the middle of the table, Luciano beat her to it. He took 3 pieces of shrimp that were as big as his three fingers, peeled them, and placed them in front of the princess.

Amaya turned to Luciano and thanked him before she started digging into her food. She used the spork without any difficulty and ate without inhibition.

Fiona Chase grabbed the spork and had difficulty eating using just one cutlery. She turned around and glared at the woman standing meekly behind her.

"You are really, useless! Can’t you see that I am having difficulty eating without a fork? Go asked for another of this." She waved the spork in front of the young woman.

The young woman hurried to the village chief’s wife and returned within five minutes with a spork. She carefully placed it on the table on the left side of Fiona, then she stepped back and continued to wait on her.

"Princess, I hope you don’t mind that we are recording this dinner. I am live-streaming my experiences. I hope you also don’t mind if the camera accidentally captures you from time to time." Fiona spoke casually as if she was just talking to an ordinary person and not the first princess of Lireya.

Princess Amaya looked at Fiona meaningfully. She did not understand how she became a popular actress and did a livestream with her arrogance. She was not even worried that people were watching her.

The heads of both Luciano and Stephane turned to Fiona at the same time, but before any of them could speak, Princess Amaya spoke in a crisp voice.

"Miss Chase, whatever you do is your own business. But I do mind if you encroach on my privacy."

Luciano was about to interject when he heard her first sentence but his lips slightly curled up upon hearing the second sentence. His little princess was learning how to brandish her claws.

Fiona’s face turned a bit ugly. She thought that Princess Amaya was naive and could be manipulated easily. Didn’t she just come back from the wild?

She did not have a chance to mingle with Princess Amaya during the crown prince’s birthday party. Now that they were sitting across each other, she could see that the princess’s eating habit was refined as if she had been used to it from childhood. She was holding a wooden cutlery but the way she used it exhibited an air of nobility that one would not think she was not using a wooden spork but a golden spoon.

Stephane was also studying Princess Amaya through his peripheral vision. He knew that Prince Ibrahim trained her on table manners since young, but given the environment where she grew up, he did not expect her to become so refined just after a few months.

Princess Amaya lifted her head and looked at the fried duck which was placed far from her. Luciano noticed her longing look. He extended his arm to grab the entire duck and placed it in front of her.

"Hmm. This looks and smells different. This is not chicken right?" The princess asked as she smelled the golden brown food in front of her.

One of the village women who waited on them stepped forward and explained. "Princess, the oil we used to fry the duck was extracted from a special kind of palm that we grew in the valley. The aroma is pleasing. The skin of any meat fried using the oil becomes crunchy and will have a deep shade of gold but the inside would be soft and moist." The woman explained. She was the best cook in the village.

Princess Amaya nodded and looked at the duck with keen interest. She put down her cutlery and used her right hand to pinch off a leg quarter from the duck.

Stephane: "..."

Fiona was dumbfounded. Her eyes widened in disbelief but soon after, a sly smile appeared on her face.
