Chapter 311: The Village 2

Luciano instinctively grabbed the man’s big hand and flipped him over his shoulder.

The muscular man groaned as he was flung down on the ground. Luciano lifted his feet to kick him but the man swiftly rolled to his side and dodged the kick.

"Boss, it is me." The man exclaimed hurriedly. Afraid that if he was a second late in introducing himself, he would suffer from his boss’s beatings.

"It is you? Why did you sneakily approach me?"

"I was just about to greet you when you attacked me," the man feeling wronged said in an aggrieved voice.

Luciano started walking back in the direction of the village chief’s house. The man followed behind him.

"You stay with the Bravo team and guard the back of the house. Did you bring the things I asked you to bring?" Luciano asked sternly.

"Yes, Boss. I’ll ask the boys to bring them over."

"How many men did you bring?"

"There are only six of them, Boss but they are the cream of the crop. Besides, I noticed that amongst the carpenters, there are three secret guards."

"That’s good. I am a bit worried. The Princess was almost kidnapped in the morning. There might be some group who wanted to harm her." Luciano’s voice was calm but his pupils constricted a bit and he unconsciously clenched his fist. If it wasn’t, dark, the burly man in front of him would have noticed Luciano’s subtle gestures.

Princess Amaya and Julienne have already changed and emerged from the thatched house. The outside of the courtyard was illuminated by a lamp hanging on the doorpost. The lamp was solar-powered.

"It is you. You are here!" Princess Amaya exclaimed. She was genuinely happy to see that someone was there to protect her ’special’ guard.

"Greetings, Princess. You have good eyesight. You recognized me right away. How come Luciano thought I was a stalker." The burly man standing behind Luciano complained to the princess. He took the opportunity to tease him a bit so he could loosen up.

Luciano glared at him.

The man shrunk back. He excused himself and headed to the entrance of the village.

The door of the 2nd house opened. A beautiful woman wearing an off-white sundress appeared. She was wearing light makeup that accentuated her small face.

"Oh, it is the Princess. I can’t believe I will see you here, Princess Amaya."

"I am similarly surprised to see you in a place like this, Miss Chase." Princess Amaya smiled.

Fiona Chase smirked. She held her chin up and walked past Princess Amaya. Two women followed behind. One was her manager and the second one was someone familiar.

Princess Amaya frowned. Before she could think further, the three women disappeared into the village community hall.

"We better join everyone in the community hall," Luciano said.

"The woman looks familiar." Amaya suddenly paused and facepalmed herself. Luciano who was walking behind bumped into her. She almost stumbled but a pair of strong hands wrapped around her thin waist.

"Why did you stop suddenly?" Luciano asked, still not removing his hands around her waist.

Julienne coughed. "Be mindful of your manners. Let go of the Princess now. Her boyfriend is possessive you know."

"Ha ha," Amaya chuckled, amused by Julienne’s protectiveness.

Luciano glared at Julienne before letting go of Amaya. He was unhappy and happy about Julienne’s meddling. In the end, the corner of his mouth turned up into a sly grin.

The volunteers were already gathered in the community hall. The hall was just an open space with a makeshift roof made from a waterproof fabric. Twelve bamboo poles supported the roof and a solar-powered lamp hung on each pole. The poles were also decorated with fresh jasmine that filled the air with a delightful fragrance.

Five long tables were set up in the hall. Each table could accommodate ten persons. The female villagers were smiling as they brought food trays and laid them on the table. The food spread was simple but they smelled delectable.

When Stephane saw Princess Amaya, he stood and walked toward the hall’s entrance and greeted the Princess with his dazzling smile. Princess Amaya nodded. She glanced briefly at the folded arm offered in front of her. She was a princess after all and was trained on manners. She took the hand he offered and walked with him to the farthest table.

Princess Amaya looked around as if looking for someone. "Where is Miss Natalia?"

"She was scared by what happened at the train station this morning and decided not to come," Stephane explained.

The princess nodded, then sat down when Stephane pulled a chair for her.

"Thank you," the princess thanked him politely.

Luciano was talking to the village chieftain and did not notice Stephane’s action.

Julienne, got caught up with one of the wives who was carrying a load of wooden trays. The woman was petite and Julienned took pity on her because the food trays almost covered her so she offered to take some of her load.

When Luciano turned around after saying something to the chieftain, his gaze turned cold when it landed on the farthest table. Stephane was leaning and saying something to Amaya. That must be something funny because Amaya suddenly laughed.

Luciano walked in big strides to the far end of the hall. He whispered something to the student who was seated beside Amaya. The young man gave up his seat without hesitation.

Stephane cast a disdainful glance at Luciano.

"Princess, why do you keep a shameless guard by your side? Aren’t guards supposed to stand behind or at the side?"

Amaya glanced at at Luciano meaningfully. She turned to look at Stephane.

"Professor, he is not an ordinary guard," the princess spoke in a low voice.

Stephane frowned. ’What does she mean by that?’ Before the professor could continue to ponder, a gust of wind blew and strands of Amaya’s hair covered her face.

Stephane reached out and wanted to tuck the hair behind her ears.

"Don’t even think about it!

Stephane’s hand froze mid-air when he heard a familiar cold voice.

"How can it be you?"
