What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?-Chapter 828: Stay Away From The Mouth
At first, I thought that I might be mistaken and the creature that I was looking at was just an ornament until it blinked, meaning this was actually alive and not just a display piece.
Now that I knew it was actually real, I realised that this might be the creature that the smuggler captain was talking about and I was honestly at a loss of words on how to deal with this.
Yumiko appeared beside me, her swords raised and watching the creature that was just laying there and staring at us with its beady eyes.
"Mistress? What is that thing?"
I hesitated, wondering if the creature was what I think it was, especially considering its size.
Perhaps it was just something that looked like what I thought but it was actually an alien creature or something... But then I remembered that the animals I know in my old universe also exist here so there’s a really high possibility that it was what I thought it was.
I pointed at the creature, "That’s... If I’m not wrong that is... That’s what is known as an Alligator Snapping Turtle..."
Yep... That’s right... I think that invincible creature that smuggler captain was talking about was this turtle...
Just to check...
I pulled out my pistol and took aim at the top of its shell, firing a single round at it.
The bullet pinged off the shell and didn’t even leave a mark and the turtle itself didn’t even react to it.
Yep... This is the one...
Yumiko turned to me, "Is that an animal from Earth?"
I nodded, "It’s a species that came from Earth, yes... But I don’t know if this is just an alien creature that looks like the animal that I know... Or it actually came from Earth. Were they also genetically modified and brought into space, Amber?"
Amber paused for a moment before she shrugged, "Sorry Tera... But I’ve never actually heard of this animal before... What animal is it?"
"Well... As the name suggests, it’s a turtle... But well... It’s way bigger than normal..."
Like... Wayyyy bigger... This thing was the size of a car...
Yumiko still stood protectively in front of me, placing herself in between me and the turtle, "Is it dangerous, Mistress? What should we do?"
"Ah, you don’t need to worry actually..." I assured her, floating towards the turtle.
Yumiko was obviously still worried as she quickly followed after me so I decided to give her a warning beforehand.
"Whatever you do... Stay away from the mouth," I warned.
She nodded but still followed after me.
I went behind the turtle and it showed no reaction to me aside from opening its mouth a little.
I then shifted back and forth in front of it, though I was ready to jump back if it tried to snap at me but it just remained where it was.
Just to test the waters, I reached out my hand and gave it a tap on its head.
Due to its size, it actually feels like I was tapping on a car’s bonnet instead.
Its mouth opened a little wider and even though it wasn’t fully opened yet, I could already fit a watermelon in that space at this point.
I took a step back from it, rejoining Yumiko who had been watching me in worry from behind.
"Was that supposed to do something, Mistress?" Yumiko asked.
"Not really," I admitted, still keeping my eye on the turtle. "I was just checking if it behaved like I thought it would."
"So... Is it dangerous?"
"Well... In a way I guess? It won’t attack us if we don’t go near it I think?"
She then gave me a pointed look, "But... Didn’t you just go near it?"
"Well... I mean specifically go near its mouth and put yourself within biting range of those jaws."
"Is its mouth that dangerous?" She asked, eyeing the mouth in question.
I looked around and raised my hand, telekinetically moving one of the dead rat-mantis creatures that we killed over towards the snapping turtle.
The remains of the creature landed in its mouth and the turtle immediately snapped its mouth shut with a loud crack.
The corpse of the creature was snapped into pieces with one part remaining in the turtle’s mouth and two parts falling to the left and right.
I turned back to look at Yumiko, "Dangerous enough for you?"
She nodded her head slowly.
Mara’s voice then came from the call, "What should we do with it, Captain?"
I considered for a moment, "Honestly... It’s not really that dangerous... Though I wonder who would even be placing an order for this turtle to be transported... So I suppose we should be able to put it back in its container?"
"Assuming it’s still intact..." Yumiko added.
I looked around and... Well... I guess most of the containers here were basically crushed beyond repair and considering this turtle basically got out, it most likely also broke its containment and I doubt we would be able to get it back inside.
"I guess... We have a problem huh?" I mused.
"Could you lift it up, Tera?" Amber asked.
Hmm... Let me try...
I raised my hand and pointed my palm at the turtle, trying to lift the creature up into the air.
I felt a weight push down on my arm for a moment before the entire car sized turtle was lifted up into the air.
Interestingly, the turtle didn’t try to struggle at all and allowed itself to be lifted, the creature just staying still like it was still laying down on the ground.
I then put it down again before nodding, "Welp... I can lift it I guess. But what do we do with it now?"
"Perhaps we should ask the person smuggling the creature?" Yumiko suggested.
That’s true.
I pulled up my Codex to call the captain again, the call only needing another ring before it was picked up.
The screen showed the captain looking even more haggard than before, as though he had been tearing his hair out ever since I ended the call with him earlier.
The smuggler pressed his face against the screen, "So? Are you coming yet? Please just get us out of here already!"
I cleared my throat, "Well... Kind of depends... We already cleared out the swarm and I’m afraid we needed to kill the broodmother too. All that’s left is the turtle which I’m not sure what you want to do with."
He pulled back slightly, "Wait... What? You... Killed all of them?"
"Yeah. The broodmother was still spawning out more of those creatures and the container was damaged beyond repair so I wasn’t going to risk it. When I killed it, all the other creatures swarmed in from all around the ship so I believe the coast should be clear now."
"Oh! You mean right now all the creatures are gathered in the cargo bay so we can slip out now?"
"Err... Yeah. All their corpses, that is," I told him, turning to show the state of the cargo bay where the entire area was littered with corpses of those creatures.
The captain’s mouth hung open when he saw the mounds of corpses that was on the screen.
I cleared my throat, "Ahem... So yeah... Pretty sure all of them are dead already. You might need to pay for someone to clean all this up though, because we definitely aren’t going to clean this. What I want to know is what you want to be done with the turtle."
It took him a few moments before he managed to recover enough to speak, "Tur... Turtle?"
I went over to the snapping turtle and showed him the animal that was still laying there, "Yeah, this one. I assume this is the one that--"
"That’s the monster!! Run!! That thing can’t be killed!! It literally destroyed everything in its path!! Nothing could stop it!!"
I couldn’t help but grin and went over to the turtle to pat it on its head, "Don’t worry, this animal is harmless as long as you don’t give it a chance to bite you. See?"
The turtle opened its mouth slightly and turned in my direction before snapping its mouth closed. I, of course, made sure that I was out of range of its mouth.
The smuggler pulled at his hair, "Are you crazy?!! You’re crazy!! Hurry up and get away or it’ll kill you!!"
I waved my hand at him, "It’s fine, it’s fine~ Look~"
I walked around it to the side and lifted it up, using my telekinesis to support its weight while making it look like I was physically lifting it.
I raised the turtle over my head and showed it to the gaping smuggler, "See? Totally harmless. The question is what you want to do with it? Because its container is completely busted and I don’t really want to kill it when it’s harmless, you know? Although I’m not sure how you’re going to deal with it to be honest."
The smuggler captain stared at me for a good minute before his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he fell over onto the ground, disappearing from the screen.
Err... Well... Can’t say I expected that to happen...
