On Our Wedding Day My Husband Announced His First Love Online-Chapter 58: Sebastian Forrest Actually Likes Me?
When I saw the caller ID, I couldn’t help but frown slightly.
I didn’t want to answer Theodore Grant’s call, but with some time still left in the thirty-day divorce cooling-off period, I couldn’t completely antagonize him until everything was finalized.
With no other choice, I pressed the answer button.
"You went to Varden with Sebastian Forrest?" Theodore Grant’s voice was icy and grim over the phone. "The moment we finished filing the divorce papers, you couldn’t wait to go meet his parents?"
I laughed out of sheer anger. ’So he does remember we’ve already filed for divorce. In that case, who I go see is none of his business, is it?’
But I couldn’t just snap back at him right now. Taking a deep breath, I said coolly, "Is there something you needed?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end. "Your things are still at the Grant Family’s house. Come get them when you have time."
I frowned. ’I can’t believe Theodore Grant called me just for this.’
"I don’t want them anymore. You can just throw them all away!"
"The things I gave you, you don’t want them either?" Theodore Grant’s voice suddenly rose a few pitches.
"That’s right. I don’t want them."
"What about your clothes, and your shoes..."
"I don’t want any of it."
Theodore Grant said nothing more, but his breathing over the phone seemed to have grown heavier.
My patience had run out. Before he could say anything else, I hung up.
That call was so bizarre.
I couldn’t help but frown. ’I know Theodore Grant’s temper. He wouldn’t fly off the handle for no reason. Did something happen?’
My first thought was that he might have found out the baby in Clara Langley’s belly isn’t his.
’But on second thought, that seems unlikely.’
’If that were true, he should be losing his mind at Clara Langley, not calling me.’
’Then what could it be?’
Just as my mind was wandering, Sebastian Forrest suddenly called my name.
I didn’t register it at first, a bit slow on the uptake. He called again, patiently, "Chelsea Joyce!"
I instinctively turned my head and met his gaze.
"What is it?" I asked, my face full of confusion.
"Don’t answer Theodore Grant’s calls anymore. Aren’t you divorced already? Don’t bother with him again."
"I can’t yet," I said, shaking my head quickly.
Even though we’ve completed the paperwork, which is basically the same as being divorced, the official certificates haven’t been issued yet...
Theodore Grant could withdraw the divorce application at any time.
All my previous efforts would be for nothing then.
Sebastian Forrest pursed his lips. He has a naturally powerful aura, though he usually keeps it reined in around me. Now, with him staring at me like this, I felt a sense of pressure.
"What’s wrong?" I asked, looking at him with some confusion.
"I’ll get jealous."
I was speechless.
I was stunned for a moment, then gave a helpless smile. ’This guy, he’s really getting into the act.’
Sebastian Forrest gave me a deep look, then his lips curved into a meaningful smile.
But when I turned to get a better look, he had already averted his gaze.
...
Our flight was at ten in the morning.
By the time we landed at Kington Airport, it was just after twelve noon.
"Are you hungry?" As soon as we got off the plane, Sebastian Forrest took my suitcase from my hand. "How about I take you to get something to eat first?"
"Mhm." I didn’t bother with pleasantries. After all, I was eating for two now. Even if I wasn’t hungry, the baby in my belly needed to eat.
I had actually started feeling hungry on the plane, but the meal they served was so small. I was feeling hungry again now.
After we’d had our fill, Sebastian Forrest drove me straight home.
However, maybe it was exhaustion from the journey combined with pregnancy-induced sleepiness, but at some point, I drifted off.
I don’t know how much time passed, but in a drowsy haze, I felt a hand gently stroke my face, as if it were tracing something...
A familiar, faint scent of agarwood drifted over me.
Instantly, all my sleepiness vanished.
’It was Sebastian Forrest!’
’But I didn’t dare move. I didn’t even dare to react.’
’Even though I couldn’t see, I could still feel an incredibly intense gaze fixed on me...’
Then, his fingers gently brushed against my lips. Even though it was just a light touch, I felt a jolt like an electric current shoot through me.
My breathing seemed to weaken, and all my previous confusion was answered in that moment—
Sebastian Forrest...
’He actually likes me.’
I was afraid that if I stayed with him any longer, something even more uncontrollable would happen. I immediately pretended to have an itch, raising my hand to rub my nose, and then groggily opened my eyes.
"Where are we?"
Sebastian Forrest’s hand was resting on the steering wheel, but his eyes were fixed on me, the emotion in them so raw it was almost hard to look at. "Sleepyhead? We’re home."
I instinctively averted my gaze, quickly stretched, and then unbuckled my seatbelt.
Sebastian Forrest got out of the car too, pulling both suitcases as we headed upstairs.
When we reached our respective front doors, I took my suitcase from Sebastian Forrest.
"I’m going to head inside now."
But before I could even open the door, Sebastian Forrest suddenly spoke up from behind me. "When did you wake up just now?"
I was just about to put the key in the lock, and my hand trembled so badly I almost dropped it.
"Huh? What do you mean?" I tried to stay calm and looked at Sebastian Forrest with a feigned expression of confusion, but my heart was already pounding like a drum.
I really didn’t know how to face Sebastian Forrest right now.
Especially after finding out about his feelings for me.
"It’s nothing." Sebastian Forrest smiled and ruffled my hair. "Go on and get some rest."
I didn’t dare linger. I gave him a quick wave, then turned, unlocked the door, and went inside.
The moment the door closed, I leaned my entire back against it, placing a hand over my wildly thumping chest.
Once my heartbeat finally steadied, I bit my lip. The memory of Sebastian Forrest’s touch on my lips in the car surfaced in my mind.
I couldn’t help but rub them, as if the tingling sensation was still there.
’Sebastian Forrest... likes me?’
My heart began to race again, but I quickly calmed myself down.
I started to analyze the situation in my head.
’Sebastian Forrest is probably planning to take things slow. Or maybe he anticipates that I’ll reject him, which is why he’s never crossed that line.’
’But from helping me with the divorce to taking me to Varden to meet his family, all of it must have been part of his quiet intentions...’
I took a deep breath. I didn’t know how things had developed to this point.
But I knew one thing for sure—
’It’s absolutely impossible for Sebastian Forrest and me to be together.’
’It’s not just the huge difference in our statuses that stands between us.’
My gaze fell to my already slightly swelling belly...
’Sebastian Forrest might be able to overlook the fact that I was married to Theodore Grant, but there’s no way he could ignore that I’m carrying Theodore Grant’s child.’
So—
’Before that line is crossed for good, I have to put an end to any ideas Sebastian Forrest might have about me.’
