Myriad Devils-Chapter 79: Greetings to the one-winged monkey horde!
Whoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Powerful gales of wind ran rampant.
Like a tornado seeking nothing but destruction, the hundreds of meters surrounding this confrontation were reduced to a barren wasteland. Most of the lake water had evaporated, leaving a massive crater that plunged deep into the earth.
Flying creatures scattered in chaos, as jagged bolts of lightning flashed all around. Disastrous wind gales and destructive rays of golden light frightened away any beast that sensed the immense gathering of stellar cosmic energies.
Waves of blood towered up to thirty feet high over the beastly one-winged monkeys, crashing down with feral ferocity whilst a youth with black hair wielding a single dark blade fought alongside a gigantic monstrosity in human skin.
The human spirit was infinitely powerful, and able to unearth endless strength, and yet, the worldly flesh limited its capabilities. But in the face of imminent death, in the form of adrenaline, some of its limitations would be released.
Though his skin threatened to burst due to the devastating power that bubbled within, pushed on by a foreign power, Andrew mustered strength that transcended anything he had previously shown.
"Argggh!!"
His skin was beet red, and his eyes were bloodshot, but he roared...
His voice traversed the battlefield and seemingly carried with it an invisible fear that brought the close to twenty, one-winged monkeys, to a standstill.
Next to him were two of the seven inheritors.
There was a dark skin young man with a full beard and unruly curly hair that waved a large banner. It churned a powerful gust of wind that held black flaming arrows in its embrace before rocketing it towards a one-winged monkey.
The creature’s single red wing quivered before it flapped, allowing its body to shoot into the air and break out of its previous statue-like state. Easily evading the flaming arrows, it descended with unbridled speed towards the group of three.
A crackle echoed!
But just then, a bright flash of purple lightning momentarily blinded the group as the one-winged monkey crashed into the earth with a bang, exploding the ground upon impact. Swiftly reacting, they launched their attacks towards the beast as the purple flash of lightning whizzed to other areas of the battlefield.
At the same time, a large-framed young man with defined muscles and multi-colored particles swirling around him was locked in a stalemate with a one-winged monkey.
The human and beast gripped the other’s arms and competed in a battle of strength!
However, a long golden spear spanning more than three meters, with over half a meter of thickness, swerved through the air before racing towards the beast caught in a stalemate. At the same time, several golden shards of metal shaped in a snowflake pattern approached from behind the youth.
"Retreat, Akron! Retreat!"
Hearing this, Akron’s thigh muscles tightened as he launched a powerful kick towards the beast’s crotch. Though it acted quickly and evaded his kick, its grip on Akron’s arms loosened slightly, allowing him to twist his way out of the beast’s grip and distance himself. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Though the beast chased after him, the attacks appeared faster, exploding on its body.
EEE! EEE! EEE!
The one-winged monkey bellowed madly upon seeing the golden shards shatter instantly. Though the long spear spilled blood, it was so insignificant that the beast looked at its shoulder and chirpily laughed.
Only... as its blood dripped from its wound, these droplets cascading the air paused mid-air before trembling slightly. Instinctively, the one-winged monkey attempted to distance itself away from the levitating blood, but before it could...
"Blood Tower!"
Boom!
A distance away, the waves of blood that tormented a set of one-winged monkeys suddenly dematerialized as Seth waved his staff and pointed towards the one-winged monkey which confronted Akron.
The droplets of blood that paused mid-air, in an abrupt manner, exploded out with intensity. A fifty-foot tower shot into the skies before curving in the air and dropping down onto the beast.
It had no time to react as its entire body was instantly swallowed.
"Damn!"
Akron’s multi-colored pupils trembled as he watched from a distance away. Sighing, Catharina, who stood next to him, said in a dark tone, "Let’s go!"
Besides the two, there were two more inheritors that stood next to them. All four disappeared on the battlefield as they confronted another beast commander.
The situation was more than complex.
Besides the obvious danger to their lives, almost half of the geniuses were also confronting the shock of Melissa’s abrupt demise. It was a strange feeling. They had known Melissa for some time now, and in less than a second, her life came to an end.
And as if to prove that her death was a big joke, they had no time to give thought to it. Without care, in this situation, they’d end up like her in no time.
In fact, they should’ve already ended up like her.
Though the inheritors and the others worked together to confront the beasts, these beasts... every single one-winged monkey present was a beast commander!
Each of these beasts were comparable to a second world stellar fighter. Yet, there was a single reason why they could even face off against these beasts whilst working together.
"Cursed Ground!"
There was a youthful girl with lengthy dark hair cascading down her back. She sat with her legs folded and eyes closed in the middle of the battlefield. In fact, it was the middle solely due to the one-winged monkeys’ focusing their efforts on her. And though she did not fight back, she faced no harm.
Unbothered by their attempts, although there were seven one-winged monkeys in the twenty-some meters near her, not one had even touched a strand of her hair.
’What an interesting experience.’ Anon’s thoughts trailed as his staff rushed towards a one-winged monkey. Even though he was in the second world, and this girl was a first world stellar fighter, her principle still affected him. As proof, when his staff landed on the one-winged monkey’s arm, it carried such strength that pushed the creature several meters back.
Although it had a much larger frame than Anon, and even towered over him, his physical prowess, amplified by his principle, and even more so, by the girl’s, allowed him to overpower the one-winged monkey with relative ease. In fact, not just him, but the other academy students in this small war also saw an increase in their strength, allowing them to survive so far.
Whilst evading a chaotic gale, followed by three barrages of attacks, Anon’s staff glowed gold as he struck out several times. His staff created several false images like Seth’s staff attacks as it collided with the one-winged monkey’s flesh. At the same time, he thought inwardly.
’But this will not last long. Not just them, but even myself, Jacob and Seth. She’s affecting us second world fighters, straining her spirit in the process. Very soon, she’ll lose the ability to command stellar cosmic energy.’ Anon deduced with a slight bit of emotion in his eyes: ’Okay then, let me wipe them out.’
His footsteps were blurry as he retreated some distance, appearing less than a meter away from her.
He twirled the magic staff in his hand skillfully. Thereafter, it extended several meters and crashed into a one-winged monkey. Still, it kept extending, forcefully pushing the one-winged monkey away. At the same time, Anon released his grip on the staff and exploded with speed, crashing into another one-winged monkey.
Though it attempted to hold him in an embrace, as if reading its movements before it acted, he dodged its hug by distancing himself, before hopping into the air and landing a kick on its chin. In the process, he flipped mid-air, taking in a mental image of the field which allowed him to explode with speed the moment he touched the earth once more, appearing before the closest one-winged monkey to the girl who he was protecting.
The golden particles that swirled above his head increased in quantity as he growled in a low yet powerful tone, "Unyielding Strike!".
Boom!
Punching at the creature’s chest, a muffled explosion followed. Stumbling back, it coughed up a mouthful of blood whilst even more oozed from its eyes and trickled down its nose. Though it was relatively close to the girl, less than three meters away, Anon’s focus shifted toward another one-winged monkey.
At the same time, the blood that it coughed up seemingly froze mid-air. Seth’s focus shifted as the blood tower dematerialized and the small pool of blood floating before the one-winged monkey, trembled. Originating from the portion of blood there were dozens of long tendrils that latched onto the beast’s flesh. Already disoriented by Anon’s attacks, it had no time to react.
His figure was akin to a blur as he appeared before another beast. Though it struck out with its fist, he dodged and then closed the distance separating them, whispering, "Supreme Control!". He didn’t strike, only bypassing the beast and approaching another one. At the same time, the one-winged monkey made a set of strange noises before launching itself towards its closest companion.
Whilst Anon appeared before the final two beasts, his staff suddenly flew to him which caused him to hop into the air, grab it, and then swipe down whilst descending. Though the single wing on one of the creature’s back quivered and allowed it to evade Anon’s attack, the other one-winged monkey confronted his staff head on, crossing its arms and taking the brunt of the attack.
At the same time, the monkey that evaded flapped its wing and bolted towards Anon. Its wing revealed an unnatural amount of flexibility and altered its shape, taking on a sharp form that stabbed at Anon, and yet, even though Anon was fully focused on the one-winged monkey that his staff collided with, the incoming red wing somehow missed Anon’s figure.
EEE! EEE! EEE!
Crashing into the earth, the one-winged monkey made a set of noises that hinted at its frustration before it stood up and rushed towards Anon once more, punching out. Though its fists were even larger than Anon’s head, when they reached their destination, the one-winged monkey only punched at air, causing a chaotic wind to form.
It cried out in frustration once more as Anon’s staff relentlessly crashed into its companion. As Anon’s blunt attacks landed, eventually, the beast coughed up a mouthful of blood which almost instantly transformed into a sharp projectile that rocketed towards the constantly attacking beast behind Anon. In an instance, the sharp projectile severed one of the beast’s arms, causing even more blood to spill.
Before it realized how, the blood oozing from its severed arm seemed to have a mind of its own, coating the beast’s skin and wrapping all around its body. The beast transformed into a massive humanoid blood giant that seemingly melted into a puddle of blood, a puddle that lifted into the air and transformed into a spear that rushed towards Anon’s enemy.
Aaaah-oo! Aaaah-oo!
Loud beastly sounds resounded out.
As Anon and Seth word together to wipe out the seven monkeys attacking the girl, the monkeys that were once caught up in the waves of blood formed by Seth, now ran across the battlefield, towards Anon’s direction.
But it wasn’t these one-winged monkeys that released the deafening beastly noises.
In the sky above, the light that originated from the stars in high heaven was cut off as a second wave of one-winged monkeys descended!
