Mr. CEO's Ex-Wife: A Cunning Comeback-Chapter 78 - : Had Someone Broken In?
Chapter 78 - 78: Had Someone Broken In?
"I... I don't know. It's not my fault..." Kate was shocked as she faced Chantelle's cold, angry stare.
She now felt sure this woman was her sister, who should have been dead. Her sister had vanished after Kate wrongly blamed her for something. But right now, Kate didn't care why Chantelle was still alive.
All Kate felt was a deep, icy fear inside her. She shook her head without thinking, denying the truth that she'd harmed Wesley.
Chantelle laughed coldly. "Kate, do you think denying it will save you? Just wait. You'll soon face what you deserve." Chantelle leaned closer and her eyes were sharply matched with an icy voice, like a queen from hell.
Overwhelmed with fear, Kate's face turned white, and she struggled to breathe.
"You're... You're talking nonsense! I'll rip your mouth off!" Kate shouted angrily at Chantelle. She reached out to scratch her but couldn't even touch Chantelle's hair.
Chantelle enjoyed seeing Kate scared and hopeless.
When she finally got bored, she turned and walked away.
At Western Hill Villa, Chantelle bent down to unlock the door. As soon as she walked inside, she paused, sensing something was wrong.
Had someone broken in?
Chantelle quickly became alert. She walked lightly and reached behind her back.
Suddenly, a dark figure leaped from the corner and aimed a kick directly at her chest.
The attacker moved so fast that his body seemed blurry.
Chantelle didn't have time to fight back. She quickly stepped backward to defend herself.
This gave the attacker a perfect chance.
Before she could grab her weapon, a sharp blade flashed in front of her eyes.
Chantelle tried to avoid the attack. But the man was already ahead of her, determined not to let her escape.
As they continued fighting, Chantelle felt herself growing weaker.
Calvin and Russell weren't around, and no one else could help her.
The masked attacker moved closer. He was about to finish her off and didn't even hide the mark on his hand.
He swung his dagger up and down repeatedly. Each move aimed to end her life.
Chantelle was trapped in a corner. Panic set in, and sweat dripped down her forehead.
At that moment, someone familiar suddenly rushed in. He blocked the assassin's attack for her.
Before Chantelle could speak, he fought back strongly.
After a short battle, the assassin finally backed away and escaped through the window.
"Are you okay?" Daniel asked Chantelle nervously. He looked closely at her, worried she might be hurt.
"I'm okay, but you don't look okay, Mr. Wilson..." Chantelle stared at the blood on Daniel's white shirt. Her heart tightened at the sight.
Daniel acted strangely. He was the injured person, yet he still checked on her first.
"Quick, sit down! Let me treat your wounds!" Chantelle was scared he might lose too much blood. She quickly made Daniel sit down.
She rushed to get the medical kit. Her hands moved quickly, but her heart felt a sudden pain.
Daniel used to hate even looking at her. Why did he risk himself to protect her now?
She wondered how Daniel would react if he realized she was the same Chantelle from before.
Chantelle gently opened his shirt. The wound was clear, right in front of her.
She felt uncomfortable as she said.
"Daniel, don't you care about your life anymore?"
Chantelle's fingers trembled as she took out the high-grade ointment Russell had gotten from headquarters. She carefully applied it to Daniel's wound, unable to stop herself from mumbling complaints.
"I want to live, but more than that, I want your heart..." Daniel's lips were pale, and he looked weaker, but that didn't stop him from flirting.
Chantelle's face darkened. "You're losing so much blood, yet you're still talking nonsense. Your endurance is really impressive, Mr. Wilson."
Even on the verge of death, he was still teasing her. Chantelle couldn't believe it.
Since when had the serious and dignified Mr. Wilson become so playful?
"I meant every word. Do you not believe me, Ms. Chantelle?" Daniel took advantage of Chantelle's nervousness and continued teasing her. His usually cold eyes were now filled with warmth.
He was telling the truth. The only thing he wanted now was Chantelle's sincerity. He used to mock and trample on it, but now, it was something he could never seem to reach.

"Alright, you should talk less and save your energy for healing, Mr. Wilson." Chantelle avoided his sincere eyes and quickly bandaged his wound. She tied the knot extra tight, as if getting back at him.
"Ouch..." Daniel flinched from the pain, but there was no anger in his eyes.
Compared to what Chantelle had endured before, this was nothing. How could he complain?

Meanwhile, at the Lowe family's villa, Mrs. Lowe slammed her laptop shut and glared at her son. "Jerry, are all the women in the world dead? Why must you fall for that disgrace?"
Thinking about Kate joining their family made her so furious that she felt dizzy and struggled to breathe.
"Mom, the internet is just full of nonsense. Kate loves me. If she didn't, she wouldn't have tried to end her life over me. Besides, I've already slept with her. I have to be responsible," Jerry argued, still blinded by Kate's beauty.
He kept defending Kate, refusing to see the truth clearly. His mind was already trapped by her.
Mrs. Lowe glared at him furiously. She regretted not teaching him properly when he was young.
Now, he foolishly fell right into Kate's trap.
Turning to the butler, she ordered, "What are you standing there for? Quickly lock this fool away. We can't let him do anything else stupid."
Jerry also lost access to the family's money. Mrs. Lowe had already asked the bank to freeze all his cards.
Roman, who hoped to rise again using the Lowe family's fortune, waited a long time but received nothing.
"Jerry already agreed, so why hasn't the money arrived yet?" Roman complained, starting to worry.
Kate became angry when she heard the news.
"I knew Jerry couldn't be trusted! But you two kept pushing your daughter into trouble!"
Kate returned to her apartment. She sat on the sofa and complained angrily.
She wanted money from Jerry to live a rich life again. But deep inside, she always felt Jerry wasn't worthy of her.
The only man she truly liked was Daniel.
Now she had something useful against Chantelle. Maybe she could use it to get back to the top again.
