Chapter 79 - 79: I’m Considered Your Savior

Kate thought for a moment before going to her room to change.

After applying makeup, she hurried to the Wilson Group office.

Daniel should be in his office right now.

"Daniel! Daniel, I'm here!"

Kate used to walk freely into the Wilson Group of Companies.

Now, she wasn't allowed inside. Ashton's bodyguards were on high alert the moment they saw her.

She stood outside under the scorching sun for three hours. Her lips were dry, and she felt lightheaded. When she finally saw that familiar figure, tears welled up in her eyes.

Daniel didn't even glance at her. His expression was filled with disgust. "Why are you here?"

She was already standing in front of him, leaving him no choice but to acknowledge her. His dark eyes, however, were cold.

The cold look in Daniel's eyes made Kate instantly lose hope.

"Daniel, listen to me! The Chantelle you know now is the same Chantelle from before! She never died. You need to stay away from her. She harmed Grandpa and might hurt you next! She's evil and capable of anything..."

Kate held onto this final chance, using the same old lie. She kept accusing Chantelle, hoping Daniel would hate her and help remove Chantelle from her life. She brought up every bad thing Chantelle had supposedly done.

Kate didn't notice Daniel becoming angrier with every word she said.

"Kate, watch your mouth! If you don't, your life will become even worse!"

Daniel shouted, cutting off Kate's crying. He felt guilty for misunderstanding Chantelle in the past. Because of this, he wouldn't let anyone insult her anymore.

Kate trembled when Daniel shouted at her. Tears filled her eyes, and she felt lost. She didn't dare to speak again.

After all, Chantelle's so-called wrongdoings were all made up by her.

But why wasn't Daniel surprised to hear that Chantelle was alive?

Did he already know the truth about Chantelle and the past? Did this mean he knew everything now?

Kate felt scared and guilty when she saw Daniel's angry face. She no longer had the courage to speak. She stood there in shock, unable to move.

"Daniel, please. Considering our friendship for so many years, don't be this cold to me. Even if we're just normal friends, it would still save me some dignity. Then my family might still have some hope..."

Kate wasn't sure how much Daniel knew. Afraid to say anything careless, she decided to lower her pride and begged Daniel to spare the Bently family.

Kate cried until her voice became hoarse.

Seeing this, Daniel finally showed a hint of pity in his cold eyes.

"If you behave yourself, I'll let go of the past. The Wilson family won't trouble you either," Daniel said, still sounding harsh but offering some kindness.

Kate wasn't satisfied with this, but she didn't dare ask for more. "Daniel, don't worry. I promise... I'll behave and won't cause you trouble."

"That's assuming Grandpa's death has nothing to do with you or your family," Daniel suddenly added.

His words struck Kate like lightning, leaving her completely stunned.

"I... It was Chantelle who hurt Grandpa. It wasn't me..."

Kate's heart pounded heavily. She was scared but forced herself to keep calm.

Daniel's patience had run out. He didn't let Kate continue talking. He turned around, entered the car, closed the window, and drove away without glancing at her.

"Sir, where to? Home?" Ashton asked from the front seat, glancing back at Daniel and waiting for instructions.

"Go to the Western Hill Villa," Daniel said calmly.

Ashton was surprised after he heard his instruction.

"Sir?" he asked uncertainly.

Daniel glanced at him coldly. "Is there a problem?"

Ashton quickly shook his head. "No, Sir! To Western Hill Villa, right away!"

He quickly turned to the driver, urgently repeating, "Western Hill Villa, now!"

The driver immediately stepped on the gas, driving swiftly toward their destination.

Ashton was so anxious that he started sweating nervously. He was scared that any delay might send him straight to Alewell.

Half an hour later, they arrived at Western Hill Villa.

Under the curious eyes of Ashton and the bodyguards, Daniel approached the huge door and rang the doorbell.

When the door opened, Chantelle was startled. She had expected someone else, not Daniel.

"Daniel?" she said, surprised. "Why... why are you here?"

Chantelle's smile stiffened. "Mr. Wilson, why are you here?" she asked him again.

"Did you injure your head when you hurt your stomach?"

She wondered if Daniel had brain issues now. After all, only two hours had passed since she treated his injury.

Yet he still kept bothering her.

She had just managed to get away from him when he left for a company meeting.

Thinking she was finally safe, Chantelle was annoyed when Daniel showed up again soon after.

"Why does it seem like Ms. Chantelle doesn't welcome me? Aren't you too heartless? I'm considered your savior!" Daniel said, trying to condemn her as she started to close the door again.

"Mhmm, you've indeed saved me, and I am grateful," Chantelle admitted. "But you chose to do that, and you look much better now. Do you really need to keep bothering me?"

Chantelle showed no signs of softening toward Daniel.

"What you said is true, but I saved the damsel in distress. How could you be so heartless, Ms. Chantelle? Are you really going to leave an injured man outside?" Daniel blocked the door, putting on an innocent expression, slowly chipping away at Chantelle's defense.

Chantelle, don't fall for it! He's faking it! Wake up!

She almost softened, but her rational side kicked in.

Yes, he saved her, but he was also a shameless nuisance!

Daniel might look pitiful now, but the moment he walked inside, his attitude would change.

She had dealt with his antics enough and had no plans to go through it again.

"Mr. Wilson, I will always remember your kindness. However, you own countless mansions. If you really have nowhere to go, you can always buy another one. You don't have to settle for staying here."

She stayed polite but firm, making it clear she wouldn't let him in.

Just as she was about to shut the door, she felt her patience running thin.

Daniel was as persistent as a buzzing fly. The longer he stood there, the more her head ached. If she could, she would pack up and escape somewhere just to get away from him.

"Ms. Chantelle, I want to stay at your place for a few days. It's for Rai's sake. I have no other intentions. He's still young and clingy. If he sees me injured, he'll be scared."
