A Demon Lord’s Tale: Dungeons, Monster Girls, and Heartwarming Bliss-Chapter 603.1
The Meaning of the World (1)
"Phew…" (Yuki)
I let out a deep breath of relief before the motionless Asura Golem.
I managed to defeat Asura Golem with a preemptive attack that far exceeded my usual power level… Though honestly, I wondered if there was even anyone in this world who could defeat that golem head on.
…Well, I suppose Lefi could do it without any problem. Same went for Spirit King.
Seriously, I still needed to work a lot to reach even a little closer to their levels.
Lately, I'd grown more comfortable among humans, but the reason I sought strength wasn't to outperform humans in the first place.
I trained because I wanted to catch up with Lefi.
So, I should never forget that original intention.
After confirming that area was clear, I put the remains of the Asura Golem into my item box and looked at the massive staircase at the end of the battlefield.
–So, how many more challenges were left?
I do think that we were already about to reach the end of this place.
This castle, though, was huge, ridiculously huge.
However, the area used for puzzle solving challenges was also quite large, and the Asura Golem’s placement gave off a clear “boss room” vibe.
So I figured that there were probably only one or two more traps ahead, but we decided to take a short rest at the arena for now.
We’d already walked quite a distance, and everyone was noticeably worn out after donating their magical power earlier.
Even though the armor we wore was designed to be lighter, it still carried considerable weight. There was no doubt that everyone used up a lot of their energy.
"Demon King, how is the adventure?" (Yuki)
"Well, it's quite tough, I would say. Especially with the armor on. I wonder how anyone can fight wearing them." (Finar)
"I agree. I can’t imagine moving quickly while wearing this armor." (Yuki)
"Didn't you just charge with this armor on at great speed?" (Finar)
"Charging straight ahead is different from moving around swiftly, right?" (Yuki)
"Is that so? Come to think of it, Yuki doesn't wear armor. You didn't wear any armor during the war, either." (Finar)
"Well, I don't like armor. In the Demon Forest, the monsters' attack power was too high to be blocked by normal armor, so there's no point wearing a half-baked armor that would be destroyed in a single hit. So rather than wearing something that’d break immediately, I figured I’d be better off improving my mobility instead." (Yuki)
A Demon Lord's body was quite tough, after all.
"Hmm… I see. So your living environment makes armor unnecessary?" (Finar)
"That's a part of it. It's also a matter of preference, you know. I'm sure that I can make some pretty powerful armor now using the materials I have without much disruption to my movement when I equip it, but I've been fighting without armor up until now, so it's too late to change my fighting style at this point. However, if I did start wearing one, I think I will probably adjust to it if I give it some time and training." (Yuki)
Also, I was not sure if that could be called proper armor, but there was also the pseudo armor that appears whenever I use the third form of the Divine Spear.
When I used the Divine Spear in its third form, I would be equipped with something similar to a samurai's shoulder pads and hand guards that were created with magic, making my defensive power quite high.
"As Yuki-san's wife, I wish he would wear more armor if possible. He's stubborn like that." (Layla)
"Haha, well, it can't be helped…" (Yuki)
I shrugged and looked at my child.
