Mated to A Rival Alpha-Chapter 156: The Devil of All Devils
[RANIA]
As she stared at the king, Rania knew that whatever she was demanding was crazy.
She knew that all of this was going to put her in even more danger, because King Seojoon may have been staring at her with sweat trickling down his face, but there never had been a more sinister man than the werewolf king.
He was never going to go down without a fight and that in itself was the one thing that Rani knew she had to find a way around, especially since his brain worked around the clock of death and the stench of the rotting bodies that had faded because of him.
She had been thinking about this day for months and yet now that she was here, she didn’t feel the thrill anymore. She felt empty like Obren had taken everything from her. She felt like she had no reason to fight, and that broke her heart a tad bit more.
If only there was an easier way around this, but then with the soldiers they had taken out and the crown prince lying on the ground outside of the castle. Kim Rania knew that peace was no longer an option.
But even then, she still had to do what she had come to do here. Oh, how she was facing the worst and was still confident. But was it confidence or was she just a girl who had nothing else she could lose anyway?
A rogue alpha with no one to rule over, a mateless wolf, and a woman disowned, was everything Kim Rania was at this point. So sighing, she continued, as she walked towards the werewolf king, the cruel bastard who created monsters for a living.
"I knew you’d say something like that which is why I stole your royal seal," Rani said casually like she didn’t commit a crime against the crown. Then again this very crown had committed so many crimes against the citizens of Obren.
It was just different now because Kim Rania had decided not to go down without a fight either, but wasn’t it a really stupid decision challenging the king, with the Viking she had trusted blindly for long?
Was there any assurance on her end that Chang Wook wouldn’t betray her? Granted, they were siblings, and Rani didn’t know that, but friendships always had a way of turning sour when one always got a better deal.
Then again, the whole setup was a gamble.
Kim Rania had been born into a world that never valued loyalty, a world in which anyone could be the enemy, a world in which trust always ended with someone’s head on the spike. She was risking it all by trusting Chang Wook and even her friends.
However, did Kim Rania have any other options with r this time?
"You’re bluffing," the king said, as he looked at the two siblings before him. He knew Chang Wook had so many grievances against him and he could tell that Kim Rania didn’t know that part of Chang Wook’s life.
Hell, the werewolf king was willing to bet on the fact that none of them had talked about the actual truth of their relationship. However, as he looked at them, the confidence on their faces, he knew that they had something that could ruin him.
Of course, the royal seal was missing and it would take a while to make another, but deep down, King Seojoon was hoping that the two delinquents before him, were not the ones with his seal, because if they did, then he would as well walk himself to hell.
"Am I?" Rani said with a dark chuckle while her brother got out the peace treaty Obren had signed with the rogues in the years that had passed. It was a very delicate treaty, one that held the kingdom by the balls, really.
This treaty here determined whether Obren would be peaceful or it would be at war with its own race, a people they had decided to banish instead of letting stay in the kingdom like the initial Obren laws demanded.
Then again, so much had changed since King Seojoon had taken over, and with the roads that had led to his kingship, the delicate state of that damn treaty was everything. It was more important than the life of the king himself.
King Jeon Seojoon knew that too.
"I haven’t been in the kingdom for long, but you can see here that your royal seal was used to declare war on Paloma’s rogues, right?" Chang Wook said, confirming the one thing that the king had been worried about.
These two had the royal seal.
"Nice try. If you wish, you can take the treaty to Queen Paloma. I wonder how she will take it, especially if the news of the broken treaty comes from you, Rania. You banished her from Incayon, remember?" the king said with a sinister smile as he looked at Rani.
For a moment there, Kim Rania almost laughed at Seojoon’s words, and she was ready to make him feel stupid, but she stopped herself.
The idea to botch the treaty was Paloma’s idea in the first place and she had even given them tips on what was needed to make the king believe it.
Oh, but it was legitimate and if Rani responded how she had wanted to a few seconds ago, she knew she would sell herself out.
’He knows?’ Rani asked herself as she looked at the king.
For a man with the fate of Obrne hanging in thin air, he was too calm and collected. The sweat earlier smelled like citrus, a reminder that the king had never been worried about the two of them at all. He always had the upper hand.
The words from the king had been a trap for Rani from the very beginning, and maybe it was a good thing that Kim Rania was intelligent and quick-witted. Oh, but this was dangerous for her and the king.
They were both doing some risky shit, but maybe it would be worth it, right?
"Who cares what Paloma thinks? Besides, who said I’d be giving the treaty to the rogue queen herself? You’re right, your highness. I banished her, and she definitely harbors ill feelings towards me.
"The last mission you sent me to, y’know the one where your dumb son needed help and you decided to take me and the other psycho? Well, in that mission, that rogue bitch trapped me and had me fight with her rogues.
"She bested me, which is something I never want to ever admit. So you’re right. I won’t be giving this to the queen. I’ll be showing it to the rogues themselves. Something tells me you know Oshita and his wild habits.
"Maybe if I lie and tell him that you murdered his Doronjo, he will decide to act on this treaty in secret. But what do I know, right? I’m just an outlaw who has come with demands to you," Rania said as she looked right into the king’s eyes.
She didn’t care that there would be consequences.
She could already hear the footsteps of the warriors who were trying to be careful with their steps but a woman like Rania with sharp ears could already make out that there were at least three hundred warriors waiting to come in and take them out.
Well, she wasn’t surprised either way.
"For someone who is smart, you sure are stupid, Kim Rania. This is the royal palace. We have an army to defend me and the crown. You’re not going to be getting out of here alive.
"You should have known that before coming here," King Seojoon said just as the throne room doors opened, revealing so many warriors. They were all armed to the teeth, and were clearly ready to fight Kim Rania and her brother.
"Well, I guess we’re all weapons in the end, isn’t that right, your highness?" Chang Wook spoke and this time, the king looked at him wondering what was going on in the man’s head.
"What does that mean?" the king and Rania asked at the same time, and that scared King Seojoon. If Rania didn’t even know what the warrior had in mind then this was bad. This was really bad.
"It means, that your time for thinking is up. You can accept our deal or not, but please keep in mind that I am THE warrior healer," Chang Wook said and the warriors in the room let out gasps of shock, before instinctively taking a step back.
The warrior healer was the devil of all devils.
