Transmigrated with my corruption system-Chapter 82: Grinding the Goblin Demon Dungeon
Regaining his composure, a faint smile spread across Ulric’s face.
"Bold words," he muttered, watching the Goblin Demon Boss swing its massive mace at his head.
Only this time, he didn’t dodge as he stood his ground, causing the goblin to growl out in excitement, already feeling its mace smash the human into a bloody mess.
But just as its mace was about to smash into him, something unexpected unfolded, causing even the goblin boss to grunt in surprise.
Lifting one arm, Ulric caught the mace in his palm, effortlessly stopping the blow as the excess force rebounded back to the goblin, causing it to groan in pain.
Snapping out of its daze, it tried to swing the mace out of his grip in a frenzy, but failed each time.
It was as if it had been lodged into the strongest metal it had ever encountered, as it didn’t even budge slightly.
For the first time since the battle began, the contempt in its eyes slowly receded, replaced by a shard of fear.
The human was a bit stronger than it had anticipated. Letting go of the mace, it slowly walked up, trying to come up with a plan.
Just as the realization dawned on it, Ulric spoke as the smile on his face vanished.
"You mistake my patience for weakness," he grunted.
And as if to prove it, he applied more force into his palm. Instantly after, the humongous mace in his grasp cracked, multiple microfractures racing across its frame before exploding into splinters.
The runes that lay engraved on its surface slowly grew dim until they finally died down.
Not giving it a chance to react to what it had just witnessed, Ulric’s frame disappeared.
When he came into sight once more, he was before the goblin boss, as his fingers curled into fists before smashing them into its face.
A crunching sound echoed as multiple bones broke before it was sent flying back, smashing into the dungeon wall in the distance.
Before it slowly slid down to the ground with a thud. Walking towards it, he stared at it before shaking his head.
Its face was now reduced to a terrible mess as green blood sputtered out, trailing down its face in a gory display.
It couldn’t even withstand a fraction of my power, Ulric snarked, before dropping to the ground.
Raining multiple blows into its face as a twisted smile curved across his lips. He could have ended its misery in the first punch, but where would all the fun be?
Besides, Ulric thought, the twisted smile on his face widening, this ought to teach it a fine lesson about the power disparity between them!
Just as he landed the umpteenth punch, its slick green blood dripping from his fists, his eyes narrowed slightly as he saw the runes engraved across its hide slowly light up, growing brighter with every second, almost as if they were about to explode.
If it were any other person, they would have long rushed into the distance to find cover from the beast’s last attempt to bring them down.
But Ulric just scoffed, a quick glance told him all he needed to know, combined with his instincts.
And as the runes flared brighter than ever before, imploding and causing a shockwave to spread as dust and rubble were sent flying out, it only confirmed his thoughts.
The whole arena trembled violently for a few seconds. When the explosion and dust stilled, an astounding sight came into view.
Where Ulric and the dungeon boss were, a massive crater lay, burrowing tens of meters into the ground.
Deep inside, a bloody mess lay, with chunks of flesh and dried-out blood splattered all across.
At the center of all this, a single dark-robed youth stood, seemingly unfazed as a whisper parted from his lips.
"Pathetic," while a disappointed expression lay plastered across his face. Since the moment the dungeon boss had charged its attack, he already knew it would pose no danger to him.
What he was most disappointed in was what the goblin boss had left behind after its failed suicidal attack to bring him down with it. Nothing!
Looking back, his brows furrowed slightly. It did seem a little strange that of all the goblins he had killed, none of them had left any loot behind.
Just as he was about to sink into his thoughts, a flurry of notifications filled his vision.
[Ding! You have killed the Level 49 Goblin Demon Dungeon Boss]
[Ding! You have gained 300,000 experience points!]
[Ding! You have leveled up!]
[Ding! You have leveled up!]
[Ding! You have leveled up!]
"Level 45, huh?" Ulric breathed, nodding slightly as he stared at the notifications. Not bad, but could be better.
All he needed was just a few more and he could push for D rank!
As the thought formed, he tapped one foot to the ground, the generated force propelling him into the air.
His eyes scanned around as thoughts of power churned at the back of his head, before his eyes lit up as an idea formed. One dungeon run had given him so much power. What about another and another?
On paper, he could do this as many times as needed before he finally acquired the power he yearned for.
Taking one last look into the pit, he curled his fingers, darkness shooting out as it enveloped what remained of the dungeon boss before devouring its corpse.
He had overestimated its sentience. The only words it had uttered earlier seemed to be the only ones it knew.
Scanning the fractured arena for anything he might have missed, he shook his head, walking to the shimmering blue portal that had snapped open as soon as the dungeon boss was dead.
Before he stepped inside, sinking into it.
Outside, the two elders standing guard watched as a new portal snapped open, the dark-robed figure stepping out relatively unharmed, causing their faces to light up.
"L-lord... you’re back?!" one muttered.
"Does this mean you changed your mind? There’s nothing to be ashamed of... we can join you to form a team to clear the dungeon," the perverted old elder muttered.
As only one thought played at the back of his head. The only reason the lord could have come back so soon was because he had been unable to clear the dungeon by himself.
Before he could continue, the rest of his words died in his throat as his brows furrowed slightly.
Something wasn’t right. The lord had exited from another portal instead of the one he entered. Which could only mean one thing.
He had cleared the dungeon!
The sheer thought caused his eyes to widen as his breath hitched. Before he could utter another word, his lips twitched rapidly as he heard Ulric whisper to himself repeatedly.
"More... still... not enough."
Before the both of them could say another word, they watched him step back into the blue dungeon portal.
And if that was still not enough, his first dungeon run had barely taken two hours.
But just after an hour later, his figure emerged once more.
Sinking back into the portal, each time he did, the time he took was cut in half, causing them to gulp audibly, unsure of how to react.
Until he emerged the fourth time did he finally stop.
Brows furrowing, Ulric spat as he paced, feeling the overwhelming strength thrumming deep inside him as he pulled up his system interface.
Level 48, he mused inwardly. With every dungeon run, the experience points he got were half of what he got the first time, until killing the damned goblins yielded nothing.
Same for his attribute points.
His thoughts were only cut short as one of the elders called out to him.
"L-lord... I’m..." the perverted elder called out, trying to apologize for his short-sightedness. What had he been thinking, doubting the lord? If he could kill a D-rank powerhouse, what about an E-rank dungeon?
But just before he could utter more, his knees suddenly grew weak as he fell to the ground just as the black-robed youth’s crimson eyes turned to him.
T-this... I can’t even withstand the weight of his gaze!? the elder screamed inwardly, his chest thumping rapidly.
He had faced a few D-rank beings before, but none of them had inspired such fear in him before.
The only person that had caused him to feel this way was... Greyson.
The thought caused him to freeze in place. But before his thoughts could run wild,
Ulric’s voice echoed.
"Abandon your stations here and head back to the residence."
He paused for a moment before his gaze lifted to look into the sky as a golden orb was rising to form a new dawn.
"A storm brews... your presence will be required."
Before they could reply, a shockwave erupted as his figure bolted into the distance, a glint of confidence flashing across his eyes.
Maybe now he had the power to go against High D-ranked beings. He wasn’t entirely sure, but he was certain about one thing.
He would enjoy crushing the resistance of those who would dare go against him now.
