Chapter 187: Punishment For Lazarus

Ronan was angry. How dare Lazarus interrupted his playing time with Arielle. The king smirked at the thought of an idea to make Lazarus stop bothering him again after this.

Ronan spat the broken stick from his mouth. Then stand on all fours, getting ready.

"Arielle, tell him I would play with him." Ronan’s voice ringing in her head made Arielle get up too. He added, "You can go and rest."

The girl nodded in understanding.

"Sir Lazarus, I’m going to rest. You can play now," said Arielle, who didn’t understand Ronan’s real purpose in telling her to get out of the way.

"Whoaaa! You really want to play with me now?" asked Lazarus enthusiastically. He waved his hands to touch Ronan. "I take back everything I said before! You really deserve to win in the best boy category!"

Lazarus was very happy to stroke Ronan’s black fur.

Ronan let it go for now. He wanted to take Lazarus to heaven before he tossed him to the ground and gave him a nightmare that Lazarus would never have imagined before.

Arielle saw the presence of Lucas, who was sitting alone. The man raised his hand, and Arielle waved her hand back. The girl rushed over to Lucas and sat down where Lazarus had been sitting before.

"You look really tired. I’ll get you a drink," Lucas said. However, Arielle immediately shook her head.

"Thank you, but you don’t have to bother yourself. I’m not that thirsty. Just a little tired," replied Arielle.

Lucas noticed a few beads of sweat falling down the princess’s temples. Suddenly the girl stretched her arms as well as her body. "Waaaah, I haven’t been running in a long time. It feels so good,"

Lucas smiled at that.

"Are you always running around in the South?" he asked.

The girl nodded. "I ran here and there! I used to play hide-and-seek when I was little with some of the other maids and then I also ran hiding when my siblings were looking for me."

Arielle spoke with a big smile, making Lucas feel guilty.

"Ah, sorry. I didn’t mean to ask that." Ahh... he didn’t want to make Arielle remember all the bad things she endured while she was in the South.

"Hm? It’s okay. I don’t hate it. I actually feel happy when I have to hide from my siblings. My heart will beat really fast, and it’s fun!" said Arielle, excitedly.

Lucas just smiled, and the two of them were now looking at the field where Lazarus and Ronan were.

"Okay, I’ll throw this stick, and you’ll catch it, all right?" asked Lazarus with sparkling eyes.

The wolf clicked his tongue, showing his disinterest. However, Lazarus couldn’t hear his voice like Arielle. So, Ronan couldn’t help but nod his head, making Lazarus scream with joy because he was happy with how docile Ronan’s wolf looked like.

"Best boyyy!!!" Lazarus exclaimed with joy.

Lazarus took a rubber band from his wrist and tied his long hair so he wouldn’t have trouble running later.

"Okay.... Ready? One... two.... Catch it, my boy!!!" Lazarus threw the stick so far, and Ronan ran at full speed and then jumped to grab the stick before it landed.

Arielle and Lazarus clapped their hands, admiring Ronan’s ability to quickly retrieve the sick.

Lucas was silent because he felt he would be disrespectful. For some reason, seeing his king acting so docile toward Lazarus, Lucas felt something was odd.

Maybe if Ronan was with Arielle, he could make it seem somewhat natural. But Lazarus? No.

What’s more, when Lazarus praised, hugged and stroked his black fur like a pet dog, for Lucas, it really was not like the king at all.

"There’s no way His Majesty the King is so docile to Lazarus. There must be something else that made him act like this," Lucas muttered so quietly because he didn’t want Arielle hear him. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Ronan managed to catch the stick that Lazarus threw so far. He turned around. His tail was wagging and then stopped. Then he threw the stick aside. He lowered his front body and glared at Lazarus, who was smiling broadly, not understanding the danger that was getting ready to come his way.

"C’mon, big boy!" shouted Lazarus.

Ronan’s sharp teeth were clearly visible, as were his two long fangs.

"Oh, you don’t want to bring back the stick? You want to play tag like before?"

Seeing Lazarus’ face that was so annoying made Ronan even more annoyed. Lazarus started running in the opposite direction. Seconds later, Ronan jumped high and ran at full speed.

"Come on! Chase me-KYAAA don’t chase me!!!!" shouted Lazarus, who panicked because Ronan looked like he was going to pounce on him. Lazarus ran away.

However, no matter how fast Lazarus ran, it only took a few seconds for Ronan to catch up with him. When the wolf almost made it, Lazarus looked back and pushed his body until he fell into a pile of snow.

Lazarus tried to get up. But when he looked behind him, Ronan had already jumped at him with his mouth open, ready to pounce on him.

The wolf’s body fell right on top of Lazarus, forcing all the air in the man’s lungs out. Ronan put one hand to hold Lazarus’ head who was looking at him with a look of horror. All the colors on the man’s face had faded. Lazarus looked deathly pale with a quivering mouth.

"R-Ro... Ronan..." he said in a choked voice.

Arielle rose from her seat.

"Lucas? Please help Lazarus!" she panicked, seeing the wolf’s big hand holding Lazarus’ head, making the man unable to move his head.

"It’s okay, Princess. They’re just playing," answered Lucas, who was no longer curious about why the king had been so docile in the first place. Lucas knew the king would never kill his own best friend. However, injuring him to the point of breaking a few bones, was possible.

And Lucas wouldn’t blame the king if he did. Lazarus was truly annoying.
