Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 186: A Cute Pet Dog
Lazarus was sitting with Lucas on one of the Colosseum benches, looking at Arielle, who was being chased by such a tame wolf. He cupped his head with his hands that rested on his knees. His mouth was slightly open with eyes narrowed sharply when it was Arielle’s turn to chase the wolf around the field.
Lazarus had vacated the Colosseum grounds so that no one would see a certain king turning into a tame pet dog. There was jealousy that burned his heart. Lazarus gritted his teeth, feeling the injustice that Ronan was showing.
He was jealous. Jealous because Ronan never asked him to play chase!
Lazarus was so envious that he almost screamed in frustration. Ronan and he had been friends since they were children. He was one of those people who always cheered him on as Ronan learned to control his wolf side.
Lazarus and William had always secretly asked Ronan to play when the previous king punished him after he failed to transform back into a human after a few days.
Lazarus, assisted by Kael, would hunt wild rabbits and bring them to the starving Ronan. When it was not a full moon, Ronan wasn’t as violent as how he was on a full moon.
Even though his form changed to that of a wolf, he still recognized Lazarus, William, and Kael. That kept Ronan from attacking them. Ronan, who was in wolf form outside of the full moon period, was a calm wolf and was always conscious.
Once Lazarus asked Ronan to run away from the palace. Because he was bored, he took a branch and tossed it away.
"Ronan! Fetch!" shouted little Lazarus hoping that little wolf Ronan would chase the branch he threw away and bring it back to him, but it never happened. Ronan just turned around and went back to the palace.
Lazarus’ attempts to invite Ronan to have fun did not end there. He hit Ronan, who was in his wolf form, then he ran fast.
"Ronaaaaaaan!! Chase me!!!!" Little Lazarus’s shout only reached thin air because Ronan was walking so calmly, ignoring Lazarus, who was running, hoping Ronan would chase him.
Things like that didn’t happen once or twice. Lazarus was always trying to get Ronan to play with him while he was in his wolf form but to no avail.
And now look... if there was a tamed dog competition in the world, maybe Ronan would have won it with the title of ’good boy’.
"Hey Lucas, he doesn’t look like a wolf, does he?" Lazarus asked Lucas, who also sat beside him. "More like a cute house dog."
Lucas, who was asked, didn’t know how to answer. He didn’t want his answer to sound rude, so he just kept his mouth shut.
"A cute pet dog," Lazarus repeated his word. He received a frown from Lucas.
"Sir Lazarus, I hope you can be more careful with your tongue," Lucas said, reminding him that the person he commented on was a king.
"Well, see for yourself. He was a pretty scary wolf back then."
Lucas turned to Arielle, who threw a small branch then the giant wolf took a stance and sped up to catch the branch before falling to the ground.
Looking at those heavy and agile steps, Lucas was still quite scared to see him. The wolf only looked harmless because Arielle was there. If Lucas was alone with the wolf, the wolf would surely growl at him.
"Aish. Fuck! My face suddenly hurts," said Lazarus making Lucas turn back to the man.
Lucas glanced at Lazarus’ face and frowned. "Your face looks bruised. Who beat you?"
"This is no problem. Maybe I fell in Ronan’s study. I don’t really remember what happened because the alcohol got over me. I remember waking up on that guy’s study floor. After hitting something, I must have fallen to the floor."
"You were with His Majesty the King?" Lucas asked.
"Hm-hm. You know how he is. Seeing me in pain will never move his heart. So after I fell, maybe the man ran away because he didn’t want me to accuse him of beating my face until I fainted."
Lucas just laughed dryly, forcing himself to respond to Lazarus’ words. He felt that the bruises on Lazarus’ face were not injuries from a fall. The second option sounded more like what the king would do if someone made him uncomfortable.
However, Lucas chose to remain silent, keeping his guess to himself. He didn’t want to hurt Lazarus’ little heart. Lucas shook his head slowly. He didn’t understand what was going on in the head of the man beside him.
Lazarus’ brain cells were so messed up, Lucas thought. Perhaps Lazarus had wandered in the ocean for too long that he had forgotten how to be a normal human.
"Ah! I can’t just sit around like this! I’m his best friend too! I want to play with him!" cried Lazarus, who then sped away from the Colosseum bench, leaving Lucas who held out his hand to stop whatever the man was going to do.
But again, Lucas remembered something. That man was Lazarus, Lucas’ warning was like air to him. Lazarus wouldn’t stop until Ronan himself stepped in to stop him.
Lazarus walked leisurely to approach Arielle, who was panting from exhaustion after playing with Ronan.
"I’m... huff... tired..." She was smiling so broadly. It was tiring but fun. She enjoyed playing with Ronan today. However, her energy was limited.
The wolf whined, still wanting to play chase. He put his head on Arielle’s lap with sparkling eyes and a stick in his mouth, asking Arielle to throw the branch again. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
"It seems that Princess Arielle is very tired. If you want to play, I can play with you," said Lazarus, who then crouched down in front of Ronan. He was still looking at Arielle, who was blushing.
Arielle nodded in agreement with Lazarus’ words. She said, "That’s right. I’m going to rest for a bit. You can play with Lazarus in the meantime."
"Hehehe." Lazarus chuckled as the wolf turned his head towards him.
Ronan looked at Lazarus in annoyance. He was so angry that he didn’t realize that he broke the stick he was biting.
