Loving The Cursed Werewolf King-Chapter 185: The Commotion
Lazarus, who was still unconscious from the influence of alcohol, walked out of the Blackthorn palace and looked around.
"Huh? Why did Princess Arielle go? Ah, maybe she is hiding in her room!" cried the man who turned towards the Whitethorn palace.
But he only took one step.
"AAAAAA!!!!" shouted Lazarus in shock. A large black wolf lunged at him until he fell into a pile of snow. Several bodyguards ran out of Whitethorn Palace led by Lucas. Lazarus just stared at the ground confused by what had happened.
Lucas, who saw Lazarus fall to the ground, helped the man to get up.
"What was that?" asked Lazarus, confused.
"I don’t know either. It looks like His Majesty the King, but I don’t know what made him lose control this time? This hasn’t happened before!" Lucas replied worriedly.
"Is it a full moon day now?" asked the fully awake Lazarus. All the influence of alcohol that clouded him at this time had completely disappeared.
"Not yet. The full moon is still a few days away," said Lucas. He was wondering the same thing earlier.
Lazarus blinked his eyes, trying to think what had happened to his best friend. Instantly, he remembered Arielle, who had been running. He cursed loudly when he realized his stupidity. The drunk him thought Arielle was asking him to play tag.
"Lucas, divide the guards into several groups. One person must turn on the alarm. Then divide all the guards again to check Whitethorn Palace, Cathedral, and Blackthorn Palace for Princess Arielle’s whereabouts. You and the rest follow me to the Colosseum. Ronan is running that way! Princess Arielle’s safety comes first!"
"Fine," Lucas said.
Lazarus let out a long sigh. He hated fighting his own friends the most. But he didn’t want Ronan to do something he would regret later. Lazarus held the two swords slung around his waist. He ran quickly towards the Colosseum.
Unfortunately, that day most of the knights were going with Kael to camp. The knights who used to train in the field were now gone, making the wolf run freely into the Colosseum area. If only Kael didn’t go camping today, they would have caught Ronan quickly.
When he arrived at the Colosseum grounds, Lazarus sharpened his eyes and saw some parts of the snow that had printed the footprints of a wolf. The direction he went was toward the king’s stables.
"Shit. Is he starving? Don’t let him eat his favorite horse," Lazarus muttered to himself.
The admiral took out two swords and walked slowly towards the stables. His heart was pounding so hard, trying to hear any sound. Lucas and a squad of knights followed him.
Lazarus raised his hand so Lucas and the other knights wouldn’t make a sound, so the wolf wouldn’t run away.
As Lazarus stepped closer to the stable, a horse’s neighing startled them all.
"KYAAAA!!!!" the sound of a woman’s scream made Lazarus and Lucas panic instantly.
"Princess!!!" shouted Lazarus, who immediately dashed into the stable, while Lucas and the knights swiftly surrounded the building, blocking Ronan’s access to leave the stable. Everyone was worried and nervous.
Lazarus opened the stable door. He was ready for the worst possible scenario.
However, the sight in front of him made the man stop in his tracks.
"P-princess?"
"KYAHAHAHAHA! Ronan! Stop it! That’s ticklish!"
Arielle was pushing the huge wolf’s furry face away. It continued to lick Arielle’s face while its tail was wagging happily. Arielle was lying on the floor of the stable. Lazarus and Lucas saw the wolf pressing its face against Arielle’s neck, making Arielle laugh out loud again.
"Er..."
Lazarus stared at the scene before him with mixed feelings. He was very relieved, Arielle was okay. The admiral was amused to see Ronan who was turning into a pet dog. The ferocious impression of his wolf form disappeared when Arielle patted his head lightly.
Arielle pushed the wolf head away and tried to stand up, but Ronan kept pushing Arielle.
"Oh, hey, Lazarus.... Lucas," said Arielle with a blush on her face. "Sorry for creating the commotion. His Majesty the King invited me to play hide and seek."
Her words made Lazarus raise his eyebrows in surprise.
"Huh? Hide and seek?" he asked in disbelief.
Ronan, who didn’t like the presence of other people around him, turned to Lazarus and growled loudly. He showed his sharp fangs, threatening the men to leave them alone.
"Oh... it looks like we just misunderstood," said Lazarus, who understood the code.
He grabbed Lucas by the collar. The man was still glued to the spot, dumbfounded by what he just witnessed. After both men were out, Lazarus closed the stable door again, withdrawing all the knights who had been on guard to leave the stable.
"Disband! Disband! False Alarm. That was just your illusion! Forget it and return to your respective positions." Lazarus’ orders left some of the knights on duty confused.
"What happened?" Lucas asked, still confused by what had happened.
Seeing Ronan in his wolf form at a time other than full moon night and when the sky was still bright was impossible. Especially in the palace. The people in the palace indeed knew the secret of the royal lineage.
However, some of them had never seen the king’s wolf form in person. They only listened to the stories of the knight guards who captured the king during the full moon.
So, seeing Ronan’s wolf form roaming around like that really shocked the entire palace.
Lazarus smiled crookedly when he saw Priest Elis and several other priests running towards him in a hurry. They looked as if they were struggling to run with their long clothes that covered their legs.
"Sir Lazarus, I heard His Majesty the King has lost control even though it’s not yet full moon? Where is he now? We will do our best to help contain him!" said Priest Elis. He was a little breathless.
Lazarus tapped Priest Elis on the shoulder. He also again dismissed the guards who came with the priests.
"No... no... Ronan isn’t losing control of himself. He’s just losing his mind a bit," replied Lazarus casually.
"S-sorry?" asked Priest Elis, who didn’t understand what Lazarus meant.
"Kyaa...! Don’t chase me!" shouted Arielle leaving the stable. Not long after, a wolf the size of an adult horse came galloping toward the princess.
The wolf’s legs were very long, and so in just a few steps, it managed to circle around Arielle again. Arielle backed away from the face of the wolf who wanted to lick her face again.
"Ronan... stop... sit down!" Arielle ordered firmly.
Instantly, the big wolf folded its hind legs. It made Arielle clap happily. The girl pinched the wolf’s cheeks in amusement.
"You are the best," whispered Arielle, and it only made the wolf wag its tail enthusiastically.
Lazarus frowned with a disgusted expression at that. He turned to the priests and bodyguards, who looked shocked.
"You saw it for yourself, didn’t you? It’s nothing serious. Our king is training to be a pet dog. You can all dismiss."
Priest Elis batted his eyes in confusion. He hesitated a little to turn around. He stared at the scene in front of him once more.
"Are they really mates?" he muttered to himself.
