Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 266: Ganging Up to Bully an Immortal
Sun Wukong’s cultivation had already reached the late Golden Immortal stage, so he had some discernment when it came to certain matters, not to mention he also possessed the Divine Skills of the Delusion-breaking Golden Eyes.
However, Sun Wukong didn’t pay much attention, so he also misjudged.
This was no simple little Formation; if Nuwa did not wish it, even with Sun Wukong’s current level of cultivation, he would have exhausted himself to death searching for the grand entrance of Nuwa’s palace.
If Xiong Daoren were here, he would certainly be fascinated by such an intricately fried Formation.
"This goddess really has quite an odd temperament."
Turning his head, Sun Wukong murmured his complaints under his breath; he had plenty of opinions (and praise) about his master’s Chaos Residence tucked in his stomach!
Before he could finish, he was suddenly turned out!
Alas, Sun Wukong sighed softly; what his master used to say casually to him was indeed true, "Women’s hearts are like needles at the bottom of the ocean."
You should never fancy that you can fully fathom their intentions, unless the needle is as large as his As-You-Will Golden Cudgel’s predecessor, the Sea-Calming Divine Needle.
No wonder the master has been alone all these years.
Sun Wukong nodded thoughtfully; the master had seen through the essence!
With a shrug of his shoulders, Sun Wukong pursed his lips helplessly, let everything be up to fate!
Even so, he had quite a bit of confidence in that goddess, after all, in the world there’s nothing difficult, only those who have a heart!
This was the principle his master had taught him when he practiced his culinary skills.
Speaking of culinary skills, Sun Wukong looked in the direction of the Heavenly Court, with an eager gaze, wondering whether Old Shi and Old Zao at the Imperial Kitchen could still hold on.
With a thought, Sun Wukong’s speed exploded, and in the blink of an eye, he was far gone, arriving at the South Heavenly Gate in no time at all.
"Chef Wukong! You’re finally back!" The Vast Eye Heavenly King Mo Lishou, who was on duty today, saw Sun Wukong from afar, and his face beamed with joy as he quickly approached Sun Wukong, his arms entwined with snakes.
Now in the Heavenly Court, Sun Wukong could be said to be famous because of the battle at the Flat Peach Banquet and the dishes he made were known to all and highly praised.
Seeing the approaching figure, Sun Wukong also smiled, "Isn’t this Brother Mo Lishou? What’s the matter?"
The four generals of the Mo family tasted his dishes at the Flat Peach Banquet, and since then, they frequented his service almost daily; they became familiar with one another over time.
Delicious food can indeed be called a great tool for making friends.
Compared to the flattery and fawning of the gods in the Heavenly Court in the original tale, Sun Wukong could now be described as being in high demand.
"You’re finally back! The Imperial Kitchen is about to explode!" Mo Lishou said with an anxious look on his face.
Sun Wukong: "???"
Explode? What the heck?
As soon as he heard that it was related to the Imperial Kitchen, Sun Wukong’s heart tightened, and he quickly asked, "Brother Mo, what exactly happened?"
Mo Lishou paused, organizing his thoughts.
"Chef Wukong, in the days you were not in the Imperial Kitchen, the dishes made by the God of Cookery and the Kitchen God were terribly unpalatable, causing a lot of discontent among the Immortal Clans, they’ve started causing a commotion in the Imperial Kitchen."
Mo Lishou finished speaking, not hiding a hint of disdain on his face; obviously, he also tasted the dishes they made, and they were indeed dreadfully bad.
Mo Lishou thought indignantly, he hadn’t noticed before, but ever since tasting Chef Wukong’s cooking and then having to eat dishes from these two, they were truly hard to swallow.
He also wondered how these two clowns managed to climb to the positions of God of Cookery and Kitchen God?
"The Kitchen God and God of Cookery were almost beaten to death by the Immortals." Mo Lishou added, he himself was so angry that he had kicked them as well.
Hearing this, Sun Wukong’s heart sank; he knew that with Old Shi and Old Zao’s current culinary skill levels, they were no longer sufficient to preside over the Imperial Kitchen.
Yet, he didn’t expect the consequences to be so severe!
"What about the Jade Emperor? With the Jade Emperor presiding over the Heavenly Court, isn’t he taking care of it?" Sun Wukong scratched his head, asking anxiously.
Mo Lishou’s face showed a trace of embarrassment, and after a moment of pondering, he hesitated and said, "It was the Jade Emperor who led the beating."
"Because the food was too disgusting to swallow, the Jade Emperor endured for two days, but today he finally couldn’t stand it anymore."
If the emperor hadn’t taken the lead, would these immortals have dared to follow suit? That would have made them troublemakers of the Heavenly Court, subject to divine punishment.
Sun Wukong: "...."
Was it really that horrifying? Sun Wukong felt a tightness in his heart, he had to hurry over there!
He quickly bowed with his hands together and said, "Thanks, I’ll be off now, I’ll treat you to a drink tonight!"
At the mention of having a drink, Mo Lishou’s face lit up with a smile, and he nodded again and again in agreement, "Alright! It’s a deal then!"
His anxious demeanor seemed to fear that Sun Wukong might go back on his word.
Sun Wukong said nothing more, just waved his hand and, with a leap, turned into a streak of light and disappeared on the spot.
In the Heavenly Court, the scene at the Imperial Kitchen was unlike any other day; where once only immortal attendants entered and exited, now it was surrounded by immortals packed in so tightly that water couldn’t get through.
"When exactly is Chef Wukong coming back?"
"Exactly, I can’t wait to eat his cooking."
"You said it! These past days I’ve been going crazy, I can’t even focus on my cultivation, it’s like something essential is missing!"
The crowded courtyard of the Imperial Kitchen was filled with handfuls of deities, big and small, gathered together, each airing their grievances in turn.
"You two with your poor cooking skills, what right do you have to preside over the Imperial Kitchen?" Suddenly, an immortal stood out and loudly rebuked, pointing at the tightly shut kitchen doors.
"That’s right, the food you make tastes like death!" Another immortal echoed the sentiment.
In that moment, the whole courtyard erupted in verbal condemnation.
But it all boiled down to two points: Your cooking is atrocious, bring back Chef Wukong as soon as possible!
Inside the firmly closed doors, the God of Cookery and the Kitchen God were slumped, leaning against the door. Right now, their faces were streaked with purple and green, looking extremely miserable.
"Old Shi, what do you think we should do?" The Kitchen God let out a long sigh, twisted his head, and asked the equally troubled God of Cookery beside him.
Speaking caused the flesh on his face to pull, and the pain made the Kitchen God grimace.
"With the current situation, we can only wait for Chef Wukong to return," the God of Cookery said while looking up at the ceiling, a hint of helplessness in his voice.
They really had tried their best, but alas, their efforts weren’t recognized by others.
"That’s the only way," the Kitchen God agreed, which was the only solution he could come up with. With their limited cooking skills, they had done their utmost.
Though they had improved significantly compared to before, their dishes were worlds apart from those made by Chef Wukong.
The Kitchen God reached out and gently touched his cheek, but immediately recoiled as if shocked by electricity, grimacing in pain.
They were all immortals of the Heavenly Court, but when they struck, it was neither light nor heavy!
The emperor was not happy with his meals and had beaten them up, and now this group of immortals had followed suit, and it was excruciating!
Despite saying this, he knew that these immortals were holding back their strength. Otherwise, they wouldn’t know how many times they would have had to be resurrected from the Investiture of the Gods.
Chef Wukong, have you finished learning to cook yet? Hurry back, we can’t take it here!
The God of Cookery and the Kitchen God both silently prayed for Sun Wukong’s arrival. If they had to endure another day or two, their souls might very well disperse!
Sun Wukong rushed on his way and soon arrived at the Imperial Kitchen, and he was dumbfounded by the crowd that had formed. How had so many people piled up so quickly?
Listening to the waves of denunciation from the immortals, Sun Wukong’s mouth twitched, his disbelief evident. Wasn’t it getting a little too exaggerated?
Wasn’t it just about having a meal? Was this really necessary?
Sun Wukong scratched his head.
