I Am An Illegitimate Child With A Legitimate Reason For Revenge-Chapter 155: Rachael, where is your mother’s phone?
Mario was the helicopter pilot. Since Raymond was in such a hurry, they couldn’t prepare the private jet or book a flight so the helicopter was the next best thing.
Still, Steve couldn’t understand why Raymond was taking such responsibility. If the lady was sick, wasn’t it better to just call 911 over there? Why go so far?
He was acting like a father and a husband, did he know that? He probably did. Or else, why would he set out in the middle of the night just to go across the world and get a little girl and her mother?
"Where is this going to lead?" He muttered as he watched the helicopter ascend into the sky.
He made sure Raymond wore thick clothes as the night was cold and the wind was ferocious.
Raymond was serious about this and he sat still the whole night. He didn’t sleep. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to but rather, he couldn’t. He kept thinking about why he cared for that little girl so much for him to go this far.
The little girl with her mother that looked like Ariel.... Was that why his judgment was so impaired? Because they reminded him of Ariel so much?
Seriously, he needed help.
By the time he got to Germany, it was already 3 in the morning. He knew Rachael might’ve been asleep by that time but hoped she would be able to open up if he called.
The helicopter landed on the heliport of that building. Thank God for that.
He checked his phone. The apartment number was included in the text Rachael managed to send so he made his way there.
Since Rachael did not know the door passcode, she couldn’t send it to Raymond and ended up sitting by the door and slept off. Her mother was just a few feets away sleeping on the floor.
Raymond pressed the doorbell and Rachael immediately jolted out of her sleep. She stood up, rubbed her eyes and wondered who it could be. It was still dark out and she was scared it was someone from her aunt’s side.
Then, she got a text on her mother’s phone.
’I am at the door.’ Was the simple text she saw that made her elated and comforted. She quickly opened the door and jumped into his arms.
"Padre." She screamed and cried once she was in his arms. He held her close and let her sink into his arms. She was crying so bitterly that he wondered how hard she had been trying to hold back.
"I’m here." He said and stroked her hair.
"Padre, mummy is over there." She pointed at the floor where Alexa was sleeping.
She was covered with a blanket as well as a quilt. Rachael had taken really good care of her and he felt proud.
On top of the kitchen counter was an empty glass and an unfinished bottle of whiskey. She drank that much? What exactly was going on for her to end up like this?
"Rachael, where is your mother’s phone?" He asked and she pointed at it on the floor. "Okay, I’m going to give you a piggyback ride, okay? Hold on to your mummy’s phone while I carry her, is that okay?"
Rachael nodded and he put her down. She picked up the phone and watched as Raymond went to carry her mother from the floor.
But before he stood up straight, he told Rachael to climb his back and she did. Holding on tight, Rachael got lifted.
She marveled as Raymond carried both her and her mother. He was so strong.
"Mummy will be alright, now, right?" Rachael asked and he nodded.
"Yes. Your mummy will be alright now."
"That’s good to hear." She said, her eyes getting heavy in sleep but she tried not to sleep so she wouldn’t fall off from his back.
Once they were at the rooftop where the helicopter was parked, Raymond dropped Alexa on the seat and covered her properly with the quilt. Her head bobbed a bit but he came up with a solution.
After sitting on his own seat, he let her head fall on his shoulder while he held Rachael in his arms. He covered her thoroughly with the blanket that came with the quilt.
"You can fall asleep now." He whispered to her and she nodded.
"Can I hold your hand?" She asked him and to which he smiled at her and gave her his hand. "Thank you..." Her eyelashes fluttered as sleep took her away and then she whispered subconsciously, "...Daddy."
Raymond flinched. Hearing her say ’Daddy’ was way different from when she called him ’Padre’. It hit differently.
"Sleep well." He whispered and to Mario, he said, "Set off."
Raymond watched the both of them carefully, making sure they were comfortable and he also felt comfortable to the extent he didn’t know when he fell asleep.
A few hours into sleep, he woke up to the rays of the rising sun. Squinting his eyes, he realized he had fallen deep into sleep without even trying.
He looked at Rachael in his arms and then Alexa, whose head was still on his shoulder. The blanket had shifted a bit so he helped arrange it carefully and then put on the headset so he could communicate with the pilot.
"How far are we?" He asked.
"We’re half an hour to our destination." He said and Raymond nodded.
He had actually slept for that long. When coming to their rescue he couldn’t even sleep a wink. Not knowing if it was because of worry or because he now felt relaxed, he went ahead to shut his eyes.
Before leaving, he ordered Edward to get a room ready. But first things first, he had to take Alexa to Steve. It seemed like she was sleeping but it was too deep for a normal sleep.
As soon as the helicopter landed, Rachael woke up.
"Daddy?" She called and Raymond flinched. She was still calling him that.
He wanted to correct her. He was okay with her calling him that anonymously, like Padre, but for her to call him that directly, wouldn’t her mother freak out?
In any case, he also didn’t want to correct her because then he might end up making her feel bad and he definitely didn’t want her to feel bad.
"Are we there yet?" Rachael asked and Raymond nodded.
"Yes, Rachael. We’re here." He said. "Do you want to sleep more?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"Hm." She snuggled on him. "Let’s go in with mummy first."
