Harem Legion: Queens of the Apocalypse-Chapter 31 When the Cops Lost Their Minds
A massive, seven or eight meters wide acidic spiderweb snapped shut over the three guys at the front. It wasn’t that they didn’t see it - it’s that they had nowhere to go. There were too many people behind them. If they stopped, they’d get trampled.
The three were caught, but the horde crashed through the web right after them. They managed to break free and kept running.
Above, the swarm of giant mosquitoes kept diving in turns. On the sides, massive centipedes raised their bodies and shot like arrows into the crowd. Screams and roars tore the air. Everyone knew - go down, and you’re done. No one would stop to help. No one would wait.
With centipedes clinging to their bodies, most could only tear at them while running, or beat them off with their batons.
No fire. That’s what they lacked - fire. In this goddamn apocalypse, torches were more useful than anything. If even the outer ring of these cadets had torches, it wouldn’t have ended up like this.
"Move it, brothers!"
They’d run over 1,500 meters. Havencrest’s front gate was close. From the original 200-plus, under 50 were left - all Awakened. Jack smashed two centipedes off himself with his baton and shouted, "Less than 200 meters! There’s the supermarket!"
The Havencrest campus market was midsized, about 500 square meters. Inside, over 400 girls had gathered. Just like the police cadets, only Awakened had made it this far. And unlike them, nearly all were. At least 350 were Awakened.
The four windows of the store had been boarded up with bed frames. Bed sheets stuffed into gaps. The entrance’s glass doors were shattered - girls had rammed shelves into place, sealing it tight with blankets and sheets for the rest.
Inside, it was pitch-black, barely any light. Suddenly, shouting and killing echoed from outside. The few girls wedged at the entrance stood up tensely, listening hard...
"Lucy, sounds like lots of men out there... Do we let them in?"
Lucy Horváth swept her flashlight across the other girls. Fear was everywhere. She was about to speak when - boom! Someone kicked hard at the makeshift blockade.
"Open up! Open the damn door! We’re coming in whether you want it or not!"
Screams burst from the girls as more kicks followed. The barricade of shelves was shaking, another few hits and it’d collapse -
"Quick! Let them in!" Lucy shouted.
Over 30 police cadets burst in, one after another. As the last cleared the door, the girls rushed to seal it again. But even before they could catch their breath, the thirty-something male cadets lost it.
They screamed, roared like beasts. Batons tore through the air, swung randomly at any girl nearby. Panic. Screams. The girls scattered.
These guys were broken.
Just moments ago, their 200 brothers had been driven from another market. Now, 170 more were dead. Only thirty of them made it here.
Survivors, yes - but not whole.
Whether fear or sheer madness, each one of them had snapped.
"All you bitches! Get on your knees! Now!"
Jack swung his baton and cracked it down hard on a girl’s head. Blood streaked down her forehead as she crumpled to the floor. But Jack wasn’t done. Fear and rage twisted his gut - he jumped up and smashed down again.
Once. Twice. Over and over. Her head caved in, face barely recognizable.
That girl... was Jade Caine. His girlfriend of six years, from high school until now.
Just moments ago, when the police cadets stormed into the supermarket, Jade had been searching the crowd for Jack. Her heart pounded with hope.
And she found him.
Tears welled up as she moved toward him, wanting to throw herself into his arms - and that’s when the baton came down.
Jade’s eyes widened. Mouth open in shock. She stared at Jack, disbelief frozen on her face.
In the next instant, he was in the air again, and the baton smashed into her skull.
Even at the moment of death... Jade couldn’t believe it was real.
"Jade! Jade!!"
Realization hit Jack like a hammer to the chest. He dropped to his knees beside her ruined body, fists smashing into the ground, broken sobs tearing from his throat.
But it was too late.
"On your knees! Get down, all of you, now!"
The rest of the police cadets were still losing control, thrashing wildly. Some, like Jack, were killing. Others yanked girls by the hair, hands on their belts.
"Lucy! Lucy! There’s a car! I hear a car!"
Molly Robinson huddled beside Lucy behind a shelf blocking the entrance. She glanced through a gap. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
A vehicle - there really was a vehicle!
Was it the army?
"Stop! Everyone stop! The army’s here! They’re here to save us! Stop, you bastards!"
Lucy found her voice and screamed with everything she had. Her shout rang through the chaos.
For a moment, the supermarket went silent.
You could hear the rumble of the approaching engine. Some boys were mid-motion, hair still gripped in their hands, belts half-unbuckled. But they froze.
Maybe... they were going to be saved?

Magnus turned a corner and frowned - something didn’t feel right. The street was littered with corpses in riot gear.
He didn’t know police cadets had access to riot uniforms and assumed they were actual riot troops.
But there were no shields. No guns. The bodies were fresh, blood still wet on the ground.
He followed the trail to Havencrest Medical Academy.
Right at the entrance of the academy’s supermarket, bodies lay in heaps. The main door was barricaded tight.
No weapons. Uniforms everywhere. Judging by the corpses, there must’ve been a large group. The freshness of the bodies told him they’d only stormed the place minutes ago.
That was Magnus’s first assessment.
