CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 273 - 281: Sprained
James Black’s gaze lingered on Jane Sampson’s right hand for a long time. He slowly stood up, his eyebrows furrowed, as he looked down imperiously at the smiling face of Jane Sampson and said in a cold, hard voice, "What happened to your right hand?"
"I accidentally hurt it while filming, but it’s nothing. I’ve been to the hospital. It’s just a sprain," Jane Sampson began to boast proudly, but upon meeting James Black’s gaze, she smartly chose to shut up.
If Peter Gingery had been standing in front of her at that moment, Jane Sampson would surely have bragged about falling from a height yet only spraining her hand, thereby subtly flaunting her self-protection skills. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Peter Gingery used to tease her for her fancy but ineffectual punches and kicks. Ever since they were young, both of them had trained behind Old Sir, but it was usually Jane who ended up being punched to the ground by Peter, then she would sit on the ground, crying loudly with reluctance until Peter indulged her once, letting her throw him down, and then she would happily continue learning.
After that happened many times, Peter eventually lost interest in training with her.
As they grew up, Peter would tease her every day about learning nothing but fancy but ineffectual punches and kicks from an early age.
James Black took a deep breath, didn’t say anything, and turned to go into the kitchen. He cleaned up the broken glass inside the kitchen, picked up the bucket noodles from the kitchen counter, and threw them straight into the trash can, then made a call to have dinner delivered from a nearby restaurant.
The refrigerator at home was completely empty. Even if he wanted to make dinner for Jane Sampson, there were no ingredients to cook with.
Looking at the broken glass in the trash can, James Black boiled water again, poured a cup, and took it out to place in front of Jane Sampson.
His intention was for Jane Sampson to drink water, but after setting down the water cup, he remained silent despite knowing she was watching him. He then went back to the bedroom to start cleaning.
Jane Sampson glanced at the teacup still emitting steam in front of her and muttered to herself, wondering just how angry James Black was.
He wouldn’t say a word to her?
Knowing that James Black was very upset, Jane Sampson saw him cleaning anxiously and didn’t dare to bother him. She only moved when the doorbell rang. She went to open the door and, seeing the delivery guy with the steaming hot dinner, she then muttered to herself.
So, it wasn’t her imagination that James Black’s face looked even more displeased after coming out of the kitchen?
He saw her instant noodles, so he was even angrier?
She seemed to have promised James Black before not to eat instant noodles anymore.
Jane Sampson placed the takeaway bag on the table and then walked towards the bedroom where James Black was mopping the floor.
"James, the takeaway has arrived. Shall we have dinner first? After we finish, we can clean up together," Jane Sampson said in a coaxing and ingratiating voice. "The takeaway smells really good, and it won’t be as delicious once it gets cold."
James, who was busy inside, did not respond, but still immediately dropped the mop and passed by Jane coldly to the living room.
Upon reaching the dinner table, James first took out the meal boxes one by one from the bag and placed them on the table. He discarded the disposable chopsticks provided in the bag, preferring to use the household tableware that had just been washed and disinfected in the kitchen.
By the time he came out of the kitchen with the tableware, Jane Sampson had already taken a seat at the table. Her uninjured left hand rested on it, sniffing at the meal like a greedy dog. Hearing his footsteps, she even turned her head and smiled at him.
