CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 127: Battle of Intense Glaring

The host of the party called up Henry up front to give a few words to the guests before everyone took all of Henry’s time greeting all of them one by one. Henry had no choice but to leave the crowd gathering around him trying to get a chance to greet him personally.

After all, everyone who is invited if not Henry’s family, friends, or employees, are businessmen whom Henry is acquainted with.

Anton and Rei made sure that the business owners that they invited will also benefit Amy in the future since they are using this event to help Amy meet other people in the industry.

Everybody took their seat when the host introduce Henry in front.

"Wow, I don’t know what to say. I am not prepared for this. I thought we were going to my girlfriend’s company’s welcome party so I never thought that she would surprise me like this," Henry exclaimed as he try to compose what is he going to say next while also looking at the people in front of him. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

"Thank you everyone for coming. For you to spend your time here with me is already the greatest gift I can get today," Henry was trying to look for Amy as he say his speech. He had lost her earlier when a mob of people huddled around him.

He continued his speech that was all over the place because of the overwhelming feeling that he is experiencing at the moment. He never had a surprise party, he never liked it. In fact, he never likes celebrating his birthday because it just reminds him of his parents.

This is something that Anton, Rei, and Uncle Trev hid from Amy, thinking that perhaps Henry would change his mind if it’s Amy who will set it up for him, and they were right.

As Henry kept on looking around the guests, he saw Amy in the corner with Ava and Mitch who are talking to each other, and from the looks of it, she is not listening to his speech for she was frowning while the two women talked to her.

Henry wondered what is going on but he has to keep his expression happy since everyone is currently looking at him, being the man of the night. So to cut Amy’s conversation with Ava and Mitch, Henry decides that he will call her up to the stage with him.

However, his eyes darted towards the other side of the room before calling Amy, and there he saw the two people that he despises the most... Lucas and Asher Brighton, the father and son duo.

Henry saw them looking at him, so he continued his speech, "And of course, this party wouldn’t be possible if not because of the person who wanted to surprise me. Come and join me here, Amy."

Amy was caught off guard and was almost dragged by the people near her when she did not hear him the first time. She kept a smile on her face as she walks through the crowd to go to Henry.

Henry pulled her closer by the waist as soon as she stood beside him.

"Everyone, I would like you to meet the only woman who caught my eyes and heart, the love of my life, Amelia Bell," Henry paused for a second while waiting for the people to stop clapping, "She is the owner of Bellory Cafe which will soon rise all over the city.

I believe some of you here own the building where her shops are currently being constructed. I hope you will treat her well and remember she’s off limits, she’s mine," Amy then hit Henry’s chest playfully and everybody laughed.

"Thanks, everyone for coming today and let’s get this party started!" Everyone shouted words of excitement before Henry handed the microphone back to the emcee.

They were escorted by Henry’s security to their assigned table and Henry whispered to Amy as they walk.

"Is there any problem, love? You don’t look ok earlier."

"Yes, there is, please don’t get mad. Your uncle invited Ash and his dad. Seems like he knows a lot about me but still he invited those two," Amy said apologetically.

"That sounds like my uncle alright," Henry smirked which confuses Amy more.

She was sure earlier that Henry will get angry but he just smiled at the news that she just gave him now. ’Just what is going on here?’ she thought.

After their dinner was served, Henry greeted the people at each table while tugging Amy along. Amy saw earlier that Ash and his dad were seated together with Uncle Trev. If someone will see the three, they will think that they are very close to each other with the way they talk and laugh.

When it was time to go to Uncle Trev’s table, Henry intertwined his fingers with Amy’s and with that, Amy already knows what he is planning.

Henry greeted the father and son casually as if nothing was going on between them.

"Lucas, you have met my nephew, right? And this beautiful lady here is my future niece, isn’t she lovely?" Trev said and Amy almost rolled her eyes at how good of an actor Henry’s uncle is.

"I actually agree with you. If you are not yet aware, Amy grew up in my backyard along with my son here. They were inseparable when they were young and Amy is like a daughter to me," Lucas said with an obviously sarcastic tone.

"Oh! That is magnificent. Henry, you should include the Brightons on your wedding guest then," Trev then winked at Amy.

Lucas’ face twitched in anger at Trev and Henry but he quickly change his expression and smiled at them.

"But I don’t see a ring on the ladies’ hand, Trev. Nothing is set in stone until the vows are said," Lucas retorted.

Amy’s hands started sweating at how intense the exchange of words was between Lucas and Trev. It’s really getting uncomfortable for her to stand there listening to the two old men bickering while Henry and Ash are having a battle of intense glaring.

Fortunately for her, Mary was watching all this time and walked to them at the right moment.

"Uncle Lucas, Ash, it’s nice to see you here. But you have to excuse me, I need these two, the emcee is looking for them," Mary didn’t wait for the two to reply. She quickly grabbed their arms and dragged them both to the center of the hall.

"Thank you, best," Amy whispered to Mary as they walk.

"Anytime, babe," Mary said before she signal the emcee to start with the next program.
