Chapter 128: Don’t Come Near Me

The host of the party invited everyone for a dance on the dance floor after Henry and Amy initiated it. Henry made sure to hold Amy in a way that Ash would definitely get envious and jealous.

"You are such a kid, Henry," Amy rolled her eyes at him. It was not hidden from Amy’s knowledge of what Henry is doing since it was obvious by how he is acting.

"I don’t know what you are talking about," Henry mumbled, as he try to stop himself from smiling. He can see how Ash and Lucas glare at him as they murmur at each other from their seats.

"Your hands are all over me while you kept looking at Ash. Why don’t you dance with him instead?"

This time Amy finally got Henry’s full attention, he looked down with a worried look, "I’m being exaggerated aren’t I?"

"Yes you are, it’s your birthday celebration, can we just enjoy this day together without thinking about others?"

He sighed. Of course, what she said made perfect sense. But he cannot stop himself from wanting to annoy the father and son after everything that he found out and after what Lucas said earlier.

Lucas is challenging him, it is as if he was saying that he can’t make Amy say yes to marrying him and that makes his blood boil. Their way of trying to tie Amy up with their family is a cheap way of doing it.

They don’t care how Amy would feel, they are just after her property. And that is what is making him angry.

When the dance was over, the businessmen were not able to stop themselves from flocking to Henry again. Each and every one of them wanted to get on the good side of Henry. But Henry doesn’t want that. He doesn’t like mingling with other people at all.

"It’s ok Henry, go and talk to them. I and the girls will entertain your other guests. Grant your guest’s request to spend a little time with you, someone told me this is your first birthday party. I’m glad I was able to give you a first too," Amy winked and added, "I will get back to you later."

Henry smiled before giving her a kiss. She’s right, Henry thought. He had experienced so many first with her and he is slowly changing because of her, changing for the better.

Henry did what Amy suggested, he patiently entertained everyone that wanted to have a chat with him and he can’t believe that he actually enjoyed it. If it was the old him, he would just dart off the place, go home and be alone.

Amy was already getting tired of talking and smiling at everyone. Henry introducing her as his lover made her everyone’s target. Everyone wanted to get acquainted with her and she keeps on receiving business cards left and right.

When she got the chance to swiftly escape the party with Ava’s help, to take a breather, she took it. She went to the rooftop garden that was only accessible to the people in the banquet hall. Since everyone is busy at the party, Amy has the garden all for herself.

"Ahh... It is so nice to be alone again," she beamed looking at the view of the city in front of her as she stretch up both her arms.

"That’s what I thought as well before you came here," said someone behind her.

Amy jolted when she heard the man’s familiar voice. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

"Ash!"

She turned around to face him and saw him smile at her and she did not like that smile. The smile that used to make her smile as well. The smile that used to comfort her, consoling her sad broken heart.

Amy would always have a smile on her face whenever she will see him, but this time her expression cannot be painted. Everything that Henry told him, everything that was written in the documents that she read suddenly came flooding her mind.

This time it’s different. She is angry, disappointed, sad, and every negative emotion that she knows, she felt at that moment. It was overwhelming that she was not able to hold her tears from falling from her eyes.

Ash was dumbfounded and alarmed seeing Amy’s state. She was standing in front of him with a blank face like a statue but tears are gushing from her eyes uncontrollably. The sight of her made him freeze for a moment and they just stare at each other not uttering any words.

When he finally got back to his senses, he stepped forward to console her just like he used to do. But to his surprise, Amy stepped back. He took another step forward and just like before Amy also took a step backward.

"Amy..."

"Don’t come near me," she said.

"Amy, what’s wrong? Why are you crying? That bastard! What did he do to you?" Ash didn’t heed her words and walked towards her.

Amy raised her hand commanding him to not go any further.

"I said stop, don’t come near me. Don’t you dare insult Henry! How could you? I trusted you. I loved you like a family. I thought you care about me, but you don’t! You are selfish!" Amy couldn’t stop herself from crying more than she initially did.

She doesn’t feel good at all. Her heart aches so much as if someone is stabbing it multiple times over and over. She kept on postponing their suppose to be meeting because of this exact scenario. She knew she would break down like this but this is worse than she imagined.

Amy felt her knees becoming weak and her body started to tremble because of too many negative emotions flowing inside her. She slumped on the cold concrete floor as she covers her face with both hands letting her emotions out.

She wept and wept, she didn’t even notice that Ash is already in front, hugging her as he rub her back in an attempt to soothe her.

Ash did not speak, he just let her cry in his arms, waiting for her to calm down. His heart aches for her as well. The last time he saw her cry like this was when her family died and he never wanted to see her in that state ever again.

But here they are, on the floor as if reenacting the day that Amy learned that her family is gone. She was not able to talk due to too much crying and he is there with her not knowing what to do on how to ease her pain.
