Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 269: Mother
[Margaret’s POV]
Donald seemed just as surprised as I was that I guessed correctly, a hint of astonishment in his eyes, before it turned into a look of happiness.
Licia’s eyes were brimming with laughter when she looked at me, but I didn’t miss the fleeting scrutiny deep within them. When it came to matters related to Donald, I was exceptionally sensitive, even in my current state of serious injury.
"How do you know who I am when you’ve only just woken up?" she asked.
With Donald’s help, I shifted my numb body and raised my eyes to meet Licia’s upon hearing her question.
It seemed she didn’t necessarily need my answer. After asking her question, she slowly curved her lips into a smile and continued, "Did Donald tell you about me? He rarely speaks of me in front of others. This child has always been so steady and mature since he was young."
"That’s not true! Donald holds a lot of love and respect for you in his heart."
I took the conversation from Licia with a gentle smile and looked toward Donald, "He often talks about you to me, saying you were the gentlest and most beautiful lady in the whole world. Now that I see you, he definitely wasn’t lying to me."
"Ha ha ha, you are so sweet with your words, I like you!" Licia seemed very satisfied with my response, her light, pleasant laughter filling the hospital room.
She glanced at Donald and, without pausing, added, "No wonder Donald has been so full of praise for you previously. It seems you truly are a likable girl."
"Alright, let me formally introduce myself! Hello, Margaret, my name is Licia, I’m Donald’s mother, and the Empress Dowager of the Wolf royal family."
Seeing the look in Licia’s eyes become formal, I also collected myself from my relaxed state and responded politely, "Hello, madam, I am Margaret. It’s a pleasure to meet you for the first time."
When I finished speaking, both Licia and Donald could hardly contain their smiles, particularly Donald, who had been silent but smiling the whole time.
"Baby, how can you be so adorable! Why are you still calling Licia ’madam’? You should call her ’Mom’ like I do," Donald said with a laugh.
At his words, I instinctively looked up at him and saw his teasing, mischievous eyes, slowly feeling a bit of playful indignation rising in my heart.
I feigned annoyance and glared at him lightly.
Seeing my reaction, Donald quickly surrendered, hastily apologizing, "Alright, alright, we won’t tease you anymore. You are just too cute! Once your injuries heal a bit, I’ll take you to the Eastern Shine Palace. It’s very close to where I usually work and rest, so I can see you all the time."
He paused for a moment, glanced at the smiling and silent Licia, then continued, "As for how you want to address Licia before the ceremony, that’s up to you; I respect your wishes. But after our ceremony is over, you can’t do that anymore!"
Suddenly hearing Donald mention some ceremony, my mind was hit with a huge question mark.
Of course, I didn’t intend to hide my confusion and directly asked, "What ceremony? What are you talking about, Donald?"
As if struck by the puzzled expression on my face, Donald simply looked at me with an indulgent smile, yet didn’t respond immediately.
Instead, it was Licia who had been quiet until now, playing the commentator, "Silly child, the ceremony Donald is talking about is, of course, your Lycan Queen coronation ceremony! That is, your wedding ceremony with him."
"We plan to bring over your relatives from the Silver Moon Pack while you’re recovering. Firstly, to let me and them meet, and secondly, to discuss all matters concerning your wedding with Donald."
"So, just focus on healing during this time. Donald and I will take care of these things. Of course, if you have any requests or suggestions, make sure to tell me directly and immediately; I’ll try to fulfill your needs!" Licia said, her smiling face uncovered, as she tenderly reassured me, "Also, I hope you start calling me ’Mom’ from now on. I’m looking forward to it!"
"Look, you first called me ’Empress Dowager’ and now ’madam’; why make things so distant and formal? That’s not good, hm? Just call me ’Mom’ like Donald, okay?"
Persuaded by Licia’s blend of gentle urging and firm insistence, how could I refuse to speak up!
I could only send a plea for help with my eyes to Donald beside me, but then I crashed into his encouraging, smiling gaze.
I: "..."
"I understand your thoughts, and I will contact my father and mother, as well as my sister and brother-in-law. Before they all arrive at the Palace, I’ll have to trouble you with all these arrangements, mother!" I looked into Licia’s eyes and obediently said.
