Chapter 270: Prince

[Margaret’s POV]

Licia and Donald were both very satisfied with my amiable change in addressing Licia!

Especially Licia, the laughter in her eyes became exceedingly genuine as she nodded at me in approval, then turned around and rummaged through her purse to pull out an exquisitely delicate gift box, extending it towards me.

"This is a meeting gift I prepared for you. I hope you like it," she said with a smile.

Surprised, I slightly widened my eyes and, after a pause, quickly responded with thanks, "Thank you! Thank you so much, you are really thoughtful! I didn’t manage to prepare anything for you, I’m so sorry."

"My dear child, don’t ever say that, you have already done so much for Donald!" Licia shook her head, looking at me disapprovingly as she countered.

As she spoke, she glanced at my shoulder as if she wanted to see the wound through my patient gown.

"All I wish now is for Donald and you to always be safe and sound. These past few months you’ve been together have been so terrifying, I was extremely worried. But, thankfully, now that you both are back in the Palace, my heart has settled down."

After listening to Licia’s remarks, I looked at her apologetically, as we had indeed caused quite a few people who care deeply for us to be frightened for a long time.

But, just as Licia said, now that we were back in the Palace, things had truly become somewhat stable.

After chatting with Licia for a while longer, I couldn’t resist the exhaustion of my body and once again lay down.

Although our werewolf bodies are exceptionally strong compared to humans, modern cold weaponry still required a fair amount of time for us to recover.

As Donald and I dined in the evening, Licia wasn’t in the hospital room, but there was another mysterious and noble visitor who I had often heard mentioned by Donald.

"Everyone outside says you brought back a uniquely beautiful woman from the Silver Moon pack this time, making you send away all the nobles’ and ministers’ daughters from the Star Moon Pavilion..."

The handsome man wheeled in by the nurse spoke to Donald teasingly and with a smile.

Hearing someone talk, Donald and I both subconsciously turned our heads to look.

The young Lycan in the wheelchair seemed quite out of place to me, and I felt a growing sense of strangeness and curiosity.

The hospital staff in this private noble hospital all knew this was my room alone, and Donald had been with me continuously, so no one else would be allowed to barge in here. For him to be wheeled in by the nurse without being stopped or questioned by the guards at the door, his identity had to be either rich or noble!

In the Wolf royal family, the only Lycan who had suffered serious injuries and still couldn’t stand was indeed the Werewolf Prince—Henry!

I quickly confirmed his identity and then looked up at Donald, who was giving me water to drink, signaling him that he could put down the straw, as I could manage by myself.

Donald didn’t agree with my suggestion, his gentle eyes still on me, but he spoke to the person by the door, "How dare you bring up that matter? Don’t you see how much trouble you’ve caused me!"

"The threshold of the Eastern Shine Palace was nearly flattened yesterday and today by that bunch of old men! I don’t know why they have so much energy to spare every day."

Donald finally put down the things in his hand and turned his head towards Henry.

Between these distinguished cousins with great authority, they had their own unspoken ways of communicating and associating.

Donald was complaining about how a few days ago, Henry had crammed all those distinguished young ladies into his Star Moon Pavilion. Donald now seriously suspected Henry did it on purpose, possibly enjoying stirring up trouble!

About these incredibly frustrating matters, Donald naturally wouldn’t keep them from me; our relationship was open and secret-free.

And if he didn’t clarify these things to me in advance, I might indeed overthink them, or even get angry! Donald wasn’t so foolish, so he had mitigated the risk in advance.

As Donald spoke these words, Henry across from him lightly raised an eyebrow, seemingly unconcerned by this kind of biting comeback.

From the looks of it, Prince Henry had apparently taken command in crisis, shielding the Lycan king from this somewhat tricky situation, yet the Lycan king turned around and laid all the blame on the Prince...

Of course, these public bickerings were just one of the pleasures of jesting and arguing between the cousins. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

At that moment, I didn’t understand all this; both Donald and Henry seemed a bit odd to me, neither appearing truly to be quarreling nor as if nothing had happened.
