Omega's Rebirth - Chapter 345: Hi there ()
"A dragon lord and his rider then..." Neveah murmured in relief, letting go of her hold and staggering back to lean her weight against a tree.
The young woman, Estelle made to aid Neveah but Neveah lifted a hand, indicating she wanted the distance between them to remain as it was.
"We should get you out of here, the second squadron is camped not too far out and the battle with the troll golem will ravage the entire forest." Dante, the young man relayed.
"The battle?...The second squadron... the Dragon King is here?!" Neveah asked with a wince, and it had nothing to do with the pain.
"Indeed. The troll golem has surfaced, Lord Decaron whom we travelled with charged to aid Our Liege in battle." Dante replied with a nod.
Neveah sighed heavily, it was a relief to know the troll golem would face those who could actually battle it.
At the same time, Neveah felt a sense of apprehension.
She was not certain why, it should already have been obvious to her the moment she encountered the troll golem that she had somehow ended up at the outskirts of the Fodder grooves, exactly where the Dragon King was.
Ending up at the Fodder grooves was one thing, and explaining how exactly she had gotten here was another thing entirely, especially when Neveah herself was not so certain of what had been happening to her these past days.
It was Neveahβs own life, yet it seemed things were quickly getting out of her control all around her and it was hard to even wrap her head around it all.
How then was she to explain herself to the Dragon King? And Neveah did not doubt she would have to.
Neveah sucked in a deep breath to calm her heart rate and settle her thoughts before she returned her attention to the two.
"How is it that you know who I am?" Neveah asked with a heavy sigh,
"Your suit, it bears the crest of the Northern dragons... the color also tells just which Northern dragon." Estelle replied this time.
"It does?" Neveah murmured, glancing down at her attire.
In her eyes, it looked to be just like any other red riding dress, she was not certain how everyone else could tell the difference yet they just could.
"Fort Blazed and Fort Scabbard are both far in the East... how is it that you two are here?" Neveah asked suspiciously.
Dante and Estelle exchanged a glance, perhaps deciding if it was okay to reveal their intent to Neveah.
"We have come to deliver an urgent report to Our Liege." Dante finally settled on a vague response.
"Then you should have gone with Decaron, yet you came to me instead." Neveah pointed out.
"I had my reasons to believe you were in danger, My Lady." Dante replied.
"Indeed, the vision..." Neveah murmured with a roll of her eyes.
"By whatever methods you knew of my location, your rescue arrived too late... I am already quite implicated by the danger." Neveah continued, gesturing to her condition.
"Forgive me, My Lady..." Dante began to apologize but Neveah cut him off with a wave of her hand.
"Drop the formalities, My name is Neveah and I would very much appreciate some silence while I heal." Neveah murmured as she was about to take a seat but then thought better of it. ππ£ππ²π°πππ§π π§ππ.πππΊ
"Speaking of silence... why is it so quiet?" Neveah quizzed, drawing Dante and Estelleβs attention to the fact that no sounds of battle could be heard yet.
Dante also listened out for a moment, a frown on his face.
"Should we scout ahead?" Estelle asked Neveah.
Neveah blinked in astonishment, uncertain why she was being asked for instructions.
It took a moment before Neveah recalled she was one of the highest ranking dragon riders in the stronghold at the moment.
As Janice had said before, though Elina and the rest would never admit it, they were meant to accord Neveah the same respect and regard they accorded to Menarx himself.
"We will not need to, Our Liege approaches." Dante announced as he lowered himself to a knee, Estelle was quick to follow while Neveah was immediately alarmed.
"He what?!" Neveah exclaimed in horror, glancing around quickly.
Neveah had hoped she would heal, sneak out of the forest and somehow procure directions back to the academy and be well on her way before the Dragon King realized she had ever been here.
It was a slim chance but one could only hope and with that plan in mind, Neveah had not thought of a contingency plan for if she did have to encounter King Jian.
She was not surprised that Dante could already sense the Dragon King while she was yet to pick up on any signs of his approach.
What she was certain of was the fact that the Dragon King would not be pleased to see her and suddenly, the troll golem felt like a much better option
But Neveah had no way out at this point and it was already too late, all thoughts came to a halt when the first flash of golden scales came into view.
Neveah bit down on her lip and diverted her gaze just as Dragon King Jian made his landing, shifting mid air and landing on his feet.
"Greetings, My Liege...Lord Cassian." Dante and Estelle greeted in unison.
Neveah herself had no idea the Dragon King had come with company, she had no intentions of glancing over either.
"Estelle, Dante... leave with Cassian. I have heard from Decaron, I will be with you shortly." Jian ordered.
The two complied with the orders, taking their leave along with Cassian and all that was left was a haggard looking, bleeding Neveah and a glowering Dragon King.
Neveah cleared her throat nervously as she finally glanced up at the Dragon King, wincing at the cold glare in his eyes.
"Uhmm...hi there..." Neveah broke the unsettling silence first, her eyes widening in horror when she received a deadly growl in response.
