Chapter 344: Rider In A Cape (Ch.344)

Neveah had only gotten so far in her not so grand escape when that strong wave of dark magic exploding across the forest from the transformation of the troll golem slammed right into her,

Neveah was thrown off balance, her massive wolf form tossed off it’s paws and slammed harshly into a large tree.

Neveah could swear she heard her own bones crack on impact, the force of the impact was so great, it broke the tree in half and as Neveah collapsed to the ground,

The tree trunk came down right on her, the weight took out all the air in Neveah’s lungs and crushed her hind limbs, adding to her injuries.

A pained whine escaped Neveah as she struggled to rise up to her paws, but the weight of the tree trunk was too great and forced her right back down.

It pressed right over Neveah’s broken ribs as well and it was a struggle to breath properly.

Neveah could not crawl her way out from underneath the tree in her wolf form but she knew well enough that if she reverted to her human form at this moment, she would black out.

Neveah was already heavily injured and exhausted from the long period she had been stuck in the tunnel labyrinth and the dungeon.

The only thing keeping her conscious was her wolf’s strength and will.

Neveah could not afford blacking out at this moment, not when there was a beast that had even the dragons cautious somewhere out there in the forest.

Just as Neveah pondered over the best way out of this, she picked up on a thud some distance away from her, sounding like something had made a landing.

Neveah also caught traces of strange scents and they were far too close for her liking.

’Veah, shift first. Hide...we need time to heal." Neveah’s wolf remind.

Neveah wasted no more time, she reverted back to her human form and crawled out from beneath the tree.

Blood filled Neveah’s lungs and she lifted a hand to cover her lips to prevent any sounds of pain.

Neveah crawled away to conceal herself behind a tree, gritting her teeth as her injured side exploded in pain.

’Bear with it, I will heal us as fast as I can. Just do not lose consciousness.’ Neveah’s wolf assured her.

Neveah nodded slowly, her breathing was haggard and heavy but she kept it as low as possible, especially as the first sounds of voices reached her.

It was impossible to imagine she would not be discovered as Neveah’s hiding place was not exactly ingenious, but it was the best she could do till she could move better.

"There’s only two of them... I have to take them down." Neveah thought to her wolf who hummed her approval.

’Go for it, you have just enough strength left. Make it swift.’ Neveah’s wolf instructed.

"Someone was here, I swear it." A female voice insisted.

Neveah’s ears twitched slightly, trailing the sound of movement till they sounded close enough.

Neveah sucked in a deep breath and lunged, grabbing hold of the nearest intruder.

Her left hand encircled around the neck of the unfamiliar woman, while her right hand clutched her bleeding side.

The sudden movement aggravated the pain from Neveah’s side but Neveah ignored it as much as she could.

"Woah, woah!" The female exclaimed as Neveah snarled by her ears, eyes narrowed into a deadly glare.

Neveah watched ahead as the woman’s companion emerged from the cover of trees, a frown on his face.

He was a tall, goodly looking, young man. Broadly built, but not as much as the men of Dragon Keep.

Neveah had not seen either of the intruders before she lunged, but now that she saw them, they looked rather normal and not dangerous at all.

But then again, the troll golem had appeared normal for a moment too.

Neveah’s gaze was fierce and cold, she watched the young man’s movement, prepared to act at any moment.

"One minute Elle, and you already become captive... I cannot imagine you boast about your heritage with such strength." The young man commented in an exasperated tone.

"You got us lost... again! How is this my fault?!" The woman exclaimed, somehow still speaking as she pleased even with Neveah’s claws at her throat.

"We are not lost, this is exactly the forest I saw in my vision and Lord Decaron flew in this direction also." The young man defended.

"You never mentioned your vision involved me being held hostage by the rider in a cape!" The young woman did not back down.

"Clearly I did not get to see that far ahead into the future. My vision was interrupted when I had to wake up and save you from the nymphs remember?" The young man replied in a bored tone.

Neveah watched the two in astonishment, they did not seem at all threatened by her presence.

Or the obvious fact that she had her claws just an inch away from ripping out the woman’s throat.

It was like they knew for a fact that Neveah would not harm the unfamiliar woman.

In fact, from their words, Neveah did not need to glance down at her cape to guess that they knew her too.

"Clearly, the rider in a cape does not require saving. Your vision was all wrong." The woman grumbled as she lifted a hand to lightly tap on Neveah’s hand.

"Can you maybe let go of this? We have no intentions to hurt you." The woman assured Neveah with a nervous chuckle.

"Who are you two again?" Neveah asked, forcing the words out through gritted teeth.

"Ah, forgive my manners. I am Estelle... Estelle Starron of Fort Blazed, My Lady." The woman introduced.

Fort Blazed, Neveah had read of it. It was the tenth of the twelve great fortresses of the stronghold.

"Dante... young lord of Fort Scabbard. My humblest greetings, Lady of Ruby scales." The young man added after the woman was done speaking.
