Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 161: Asking Victor Grant for Help
"I know you’ve changed a lot for me, but that’s not what I want. What I want, you’ll never understand."
May Morgan didn’t want to pursue the matter of the videotape, but it lingered in her heart, refusing to go away. She didn’t necessarily want to do anything to Arthur Vance, but she wanted to know Vincent Vance’s attitude.
Both the phone and the video camera were lost simultaneously, which was unusual. There was clearly money and some jewelry in her drawer along with the video camera. If it was a thief, why not steal the jewelry instead of the video camera?
"What do you want? I’ve said I can give you whatever you want, but you also have to give me time and a chance. I’m not omnipotent; I need to help you achieve things little by little."
Vincent’s feelings of frustration were extremely uncomfortable. He clearly knew May’s body was like that, but he didn’t mind and was actively helping her find a way to remove the Dragon Insect. Did he do something wrong?
May couldn’t help but let out a bitter smile, her eyes full of resentment finally looking elsewhere: "So you found someone to steal my camera and phone, right? Is this your so-called protection? Your grandfather already sent people to hit the door, and you can only talk to me like this, right?"
Vincent took a deep breath, suppressing the annoyance in his heart, and said to May: "I didn’t find someone to steal your things. Don’t let your imagination run wild. If the things are lost, I’ll help you retrieve them."
"What if you retrieve them? Will you make that video public? Vincent, do you dare?"
"I dare. For you, there’s nothing I don’t dare."
Vincent was confident that he had all the information from that video in his hands. As long as he didn’t give it back, May would never find it, so he dared to make such a solemn promise.
May suddenly raised her head and stared at Vincent for a full minute, eventually letting out a helpless sigh: "You can speak with such certainty because you know those videos are lost for good, right?"
Vincent didn’t know if May could read minds or if women’s intuition was inherently sharp, but May’s sudden words left him somewhat at a loss.
However, he quickly feigned anger and said to her harshly: "May, don’t be unreasonable. I, Vincent Vance, keep my promises. If you can find that video, I’ll help you contact the media to release it. But if you can’t find it, don’t make assumptions about others."
"I still have some business to take care of, so I’m heading back to the company. Don’t wait for me for dinner tonight!"
Vincent gave May a glaring look and then turned to leave the bedroom.
If he didn’t leave, he feared he wouldn’t be able to handle this woman continually pestering him.
Women sometimes really are creatures that can’t get any more troublesome.
May watched his indignant figure leave, feeling increasingly troubled as the frustration in her heart welled up. Vincent, if you’re not willing to be honest with me, don’t blame me for not being polite.
With that thought, May took some change from the drawer and went out to find a reliable servant to help her buy a phone and replace her SIM card.
The servant agreed and went to take care of it. About an hour later, both the card and the phone were bought. May didn’t dare be careless. She fiddled with the phone on the bed for quite a while. She followed a video she saw online, opened the phone case, and carefully inspected the inside until she confirmed there was no surveillance device before stopping.
Feeling everything was secure, May finally felt at ease to call her best friend Monica Lambert and asked her to send the video she posted last night back to her as is for safekeeping. May repeatedly reminded Monica not to delete it nor tell anyone about it.
After handling all this, May began planning how to make Vincent fulfill his promise. She felt that since Vincent had called people to steal her things, it meant he never intended to make the video public. So, even if she managed to retrieve the video, Vincent would still find ways to obstruct her, causing the video to die before it even saw the light of day.
The best way was to find a middleman to be a witness, making Vincent unable to refuse.
After thinking it over, May decided to take a risk and ask Victor Grant for help.
Victor left her a business card last night, saying she could contact him if anything came up. Back then, she disdainfully threw it in the trash bin and even secretly vowed never to get involved with such a sleazy gangster. Yet, the day hadn’t even passed, and she got to experience what "it’s really good" felt like!
Fortunately, the bedroom trash bin hadn’t been emptied by the servant yet. May quickly found Victor’s business card from the trash bin, then dialed the number on it.
This was the first time May had called Victor, so Victor didn’t know her contact details. But for some reason, when May’s call came through, Victor’s first instinct was that it was her.
So the call quickly connected, and Victor’s cheeky voice swiftly came through: "Hey, girl, already missing your big brother, huh?"
May frowned, trying to soften her tone as she said to Victor Grant, "Mr. Grant, how did you know it’s me?"
"Hehe, maybe we have telepathy? Or maybe we were lovers in a previous life, so we have a connection in this life? Otherwise, how come I was the first to come to the rescue last night when you were in trouble?"
May really couldn’t stand Victor’s annoying antics, finding him very irritating: "Can you talk to me seriously? At least I’m a proper woman, not one of those promiscuous women you have around!"
"Sister, you’ve really wronged me now. Your big brother may seem wild and free-spirited on the outside, but I’m actually very pure at heart. I don’t even care for the kind of women you mentioned, okay?"
"Not caring about them or have you grown tired of them?"
"What’s the difference? Really, let me tell you, once you’ve seen enough women, they’re all the same, just more or less different down there. What’s the difference?"
"Victor Grant, can you speak properly?" May was almost going crazy. How could there be such a shameless man in the world? Vincent might be something, but he never spoke as crudely as Victor.
Victor heard May’s voice on the phone and sensed she was genuinely angry. He chuckled and stopped teasing, turning to ask seriously: "Alright, sister, I’m not gonna joke around. Tell me, what do you need me for?"
If it weren’t for needing a man capable of standing against Vincent Vance as backup, May would’ve been reluctant to turn to Victor, that infamous rogue. But right now, even if he continued to hit her with dirty jokes, she’d have to tolerate listening.
Because now, she needed his help.
