When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 640: Arranging His Departure
Faye Turner isn’t foolish, full of vigilance, even if she doesn’t state the reason, she can guess why.
"Say whatever you have to say over the phone." For the safety of the baby in her belly, she wouldn’t meet her.
However, Melanie Lancaster felt that things couldn’t be clearly explained over the phone, "Faye, auntie is right at your doorstep, will you meet with me? Auntie wants to speak with you face-to-face."
By the living room’s floor-to-ceiling window, Faye looked outside, towards the gate of the yard, "You waited until Adrian was gone to make this call."
"..." She knew she was smart, so she admitted, "Yes, because Auntie only wants to see you."
"Say whatever you have to say over the phone." Faye’s attitude was very clear, "I won’t see you."
Melanie Lancaster was out of options, and to grasp this sliver of hope, she could only plead on her son’s behalf over the phone, "Faye, Brandon was arrested by the police, and once a case is filed, he could face imprisonment. Could you please plead for him in front of Adrian?"
Faye heard the urgency of a mother, but she wasn’t moved to pity, looking down at her prominent belly, she reached out and caressed it, "But Auntie, brother Brandon wanted my life and my child’s life."
"..." Melanie was at a loss for words, not knowing what to say in response.
Faye’s gentle and calm voice came again, "You’re asking me to plead for him? Are you out of your mind?" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Melanie was really taken aback, Faye wasn’t this kind of woman, she was gentle and easy to talk to.
Before she could respond, Faye had ended the call.
Melanie’s heart sank heavily, the last glimmer of hope... dashed, she stood outside the gate, in the cold wind, slightly gritting her teeth.
Meanwhile, the girl by the living room’s floor-to-ceiling window was holding the phone, her mood was complex too, she reached out and caressed her belly, vowing to protect her baby well.
Morning.
Black Hawk was still recuperating at Elias Young’s place, the two were having breakfast together.
"Black Hawk, I’ve already arranged a car for you, to take you to hide for a while." Elias Young was thorough in his actions, "The police over the years have never stopped collecting evidence."
"Mr. Young, please allow me to stay." Black Hawk appeared very sincere, "I only have one life, it’s long been worthless, if you need, I’m willing to serve again."
Their gazes met, and a long silence filled the dining room.
Then, Elias Young broke into a smile, "I’m very touched, but no need for the time being, if needed later, I’ll contact you."
Black Hawk didn’t insist, always feeling there was something... not quite surface-like in his eyes.
He nodded, "Alright, then I’ll go."
Then, Elias Young encouraged him to eat more, and they talked about other things.
After breakfast, Black Hawk went to the restroom, recently having some stomach issues, a normal occurrence after being beaten by Adrian Lancaster’s men.
Being in the restroom for too long, the newcomers weren’t aware of his presence.
Black Hawk heard the sound of water from the sink faucet and inadvertently overheard the conversation between two subordinates—
"Taking action against Black Hawk, can we even keep our lives then?" One of them was very unsure, "Black Hawk has done so much for Mr. Young, yet he can’t even be trusted, and they want his life."
"That’s because Black Hawk knows too much dirt about Mr. Young, he got too close leading to this." The other said while washing hands, "We have no choice, my son’s schooling was arranged by Mr. Young. If we don’t do what he wants, our family’s lives could be threatened."
Inside the restroom, Black Hawk’s face changed slightly, Elias Young wants his life?
