When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 641: Won’t Live Long
"Do you think Hawk would get suspicious? Throwing him off a cliff is more trouble than just injecting him right here."
"Are you stupid? If it happens here, Mr. Young won’t be able to avoid being implicated. Mr. Young wants to get it done far away, so it happens without a trace."
"Makes sense..."
The sound of water outside stopped, and soon after, the footsteps of the two people faded away...
Hawk’s lips twitched, and the light bursting from his eyes was as cold as if shot from a glacier.
He smoothed out all his emotions well when he opened the bathroom door.
He entered the hall where Elias Young was already waiting for him. "How’s it going? Are you feeling alright?" His words were full of concern.
"Thank you for your concern, Mr. Young. I’m fine."
"Good," Elias Young said to him. "Let’s go out, I’ll see you off."
Hawk didn’t show any sign of unusual behavior, expressing gratitude as he followed Elias outward.
A black sedan was parked outside, the door already open. Two men at the doorway bowed respectfully, "Hawk."
From their voices, he recognized they were the same two he had overheard outside the restroom.
Hawk nodded and got into the car.
Outside, Elias Young waved at him with a smile before the door closed, "Safe travels."
Hawk also curled his lips slightly, waving back, "No need to see me off." The feeling in his heart, however, wasn’t something that could be expressed in just a few words.
Elias Young’s two subordinates got into the car, sitting on either side of him.
The door closed, and the car drove off...
Hawk thought of Adrian Lancaster’s words—
"Elias Young isn’t worth risking your life for. You know all his dirt; one day, you’ll end up dead by his hand."
"I advise you to consider working with me, take down Elias Young, and you might even get a reduced sentence. A few years behind bars, and you’ll be a free man again, honoring the debt of your parents’ upbringing."
At the time, he hadn’t given any definitive reply.
Yet Adrian Lancaster had let him go...
But looking at the situation now, Hawk felt he had misplaced his persistence. He took out his phone, ready to send a message to Adrian Lancaster, only to find his phone had been swapped.
There’s no SIM card!
Hawk met the gaze of the two men, "..."
No one spoke, as the car kept moving forward.
Hawk didn’t have any weapons on him, and he was injured. Since Elias Young wanted him dead, the two men beside him were likely armed.
If he didn’t deal with them in the car, his chances after getting out were slim.
But in the car, he was closely watched by them... the car was speeding, and Hawk didn’t dare to act rashly.
Time slipped away, second by second...
The car drove further from the city, into more remote areas.
"Where is Mr. Young sending me?" Hawk asked confusedly, "Wasn’t I supposed to go overseas?"
"Back to the countryside," one man replied. "Lay low first, then go abroad."
He nodded and didn’t ask further.
Until half an hour later, the car entered a rugged mountain path.
One of Elias Young’s men told the driver, "Stop, stop, find a place to park, I need to use the toilet!"
This area was surrounded by dense vegetation, with no one else in sight.
The car soon came to a stop.
The car door opened, and one person got out. Hawk still held onto a glimmer of hope that he might have misheard in the restroom?
"I need to go too, Hawk. You should step out as well!" the person beside him spoke, interrupting his thoughts, "Come on, get some fresh air, the journey is long and bumpy, sitting for too long isn’t comfortable."
The two men’s gazes met, the man gave him a smile, then got out of the car.
Hawk noticed the driver’s expression seemed meaningful too, they likely planned to finish him off right here?
