Chapter 658: Chapter 658: Sheng Jiayu vs. Mu Ke (8)

Back from London to B City, Sheng Jiayu went straight from the airport to the hospital, with Mu Ke by her side. Upon arrival at the hospital, Sheng Jiayu was taken directly to Xu Qingru’s ward. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Xu Qingru still had an oxygen tube in her nose, her face pale. Upon seeing Sheng Jiayu, she gave a slight smile: "Child, why are you in such a hurry to come back? I’m fine."

Xu Qingru’s demeanor was very calm. Sheng Jiayu sat down beside her bed and reached out to hold her hand: "Mom, I’m sorry."

Mu Ke, at some point, had already changed into a white coat, holding Xu Qingru’s medical record in his hand.

He was naturally thin and tall; wearing a white coat made his legs appear even longer, and his whole presence was strikingly handsome.

"Little Mu is here too? Look at you, bothering you both to come and go; it was all Sister-in-law Li being dramatic. I’m fine."

Mu Ke looked at the medical record in his hand and then at the data displayed on the nearby machine. His usually cold face gentled: "Aunt, you need to rest more and maintain a good mood."

Xu Qingru nodded slightly; she was somewhat tired and urged Sheng Jiayu to leave, knowing she had just hurried back from the United Kingdom, encouraging her to go rest.

"Little Mu, I’ll leave Jiayu to you. Please take her back to rest; this girl less and less takes care of herself."

Mu Ke nodded: "Aunt, don’t worry, I’ll take good care of her."

Saying this, Mu Ke pulled Sheng Jiayu’s arm to lead her out, but Sheng Jiayu frowned and resisted: "I don’t..."

"Do you want Aunt to worry?"

Mu Ke whispered softly into Sheng Jiayu’s ear, and Sheng Jiayu glanced at her mother on the hospital bed, giving up her struggle and following Mu Ke out.

As soon as they left the ward, Sheng Jiayu shook off Mu Ke’s hold: "I’m not going back, nor am I tired; I’ll stay here and keep watch."

Mu Ke looked at his watch: "Come with me to the office, I’ll explain Aunt’s condition to you."

This was Sheng Jiayu’s weak spot, so she had no choice but to follow.

Mu Ke’s reputation in the medical field was indeed remarkable; known as a "prodigy," although he belonged to B City’s first hospital, he frequently traveled between various hospitals to perform surgeries.

He didn’t have clinic hours here, yet they still assigned him an office.

"Just like I said on the plane, Aunt’s condition is more optimistic than you think. As long as she maintains a proper diet and avoids stress, there won’t be any issues."

Sheng Jiayu nodded, and Mu Ke added: "Also, don’t let her worry."

Mu Ke’s words carried a subtle double meaning to Sheng Jiayu, causing her to purse her lips: "I understand."

"You rest here; there’s a bed inside where you can sleep for a while. Don’t worry; everything’s clean. I’ll go and speak with a few doctors in charge of Aunt’s condition to understand more details. If you don’t want her to worry, do as I say."

After he finished, Mu Ke led Sheng Jiayu directly into a small rest room inside, without saying much more, and turned to leave.

He used Xu Qingru to pressure her, so Sheng Jiayu had no choice but to comply, though she truly wasn’t tired; she sat on the narrow single bed, head lowered, unsure of what to think.

Mu Ke chatted with the doctors in charge for about half an hour before returning to Xu Qingru’s room, gently pushing the door open. Xu Qingru was resting with her eyes closed but wasn’t asleep; hearing the sound, she slowly opened her eyes.

Seeing Mu Ke, her face showed a gentle smile: "Little Mu is here?"
