Chapter 153: Chapter 153: Master... will you kiss me?

Reon walked slowly along the bustling street, his thoughts drifting toward the mission ahead.

The Greenwood Forest.

It wasn’t as vast or ancient as the legendary Mystic Evergreen Forest, but it still stretched far and wide—an untamed wilderness that sprawled across 89 counties within the borders of the Great Zhenou Kingdom.

For most adventurers, it was the most accessible and well-known hunting ground.

And now, it was Reon’s destination.

In this sprawling kingdom, power was meticulously distributed among the noble elite.

Above all stood the Royal Great Zhen Family, and beneath them, four Superior Clans reigned—each entrusted with authority over 22 counties.

All except the Niu Family, who came to control 23 counties after forcefully annexing Minlung County—once ruled by the now-fallen, neutral Ning Family.

Each group of five counties was further entrusted to an Elite Family, serving directly under their respective Superior Clan.

Ninzhou, the county where Reon currently resided, was a modest territory under the dominion of the Niu Family.

However, the day-to-day governance was delegated to the High-Class Shou Family.

This county encompassed ten cities, twenty-five towns, and over a hundred villages—a closely connected land surrounded by wild and dangerous nature.

Each city was administered by a First-Class Family, towns by Second-Class Families, and villages typically fell under the care of Third-Class Families.

Qinghe, the smallest of the ten cities, barely exceeded a town in size. It was managed by the humble but competent Min Family.

Just beyond its borders, a stretch of Greenwood Forest brushed against the city’s outskirts—offering both promise and danger to those bold enough to venture.

"I suppose today’s a good day to explore it." Reon mused.

Reon walked through the city streets until he came to a stop in front of a merchant’s store.

Inside, he purchased a Spatial Tent—compact in storage but expansive when deployed, nearly the size of a small house.

Alongside it, he bought a bed and other essential supplies, storing everything neatly within his Spatial Ring.

’I probably won’t stumble upon a convenient cave this time,’ Reon thought as he exited the store. ’These will be perfect for camping in the forest.’

Picking up his pace, he made his way back to the Supreme Dao Sect’s inn.

Qinghe City was small and lacked advanced infrastructure.

No store offered teleportation services, and the only spatial link he knew of was the one that had brought him here from the sect.

If he wished to travel elsewhere, that lone connection was his best—and perhaps only—chance.

Upon returning, Reon approached the front counter of the inn.

"Do you provide teleportation to other places?" he asked.

The receptionist shook her head politely. "I’m sorry, Sir. The teleportation array here only connects to the sect. It’s a one-way route—arrival and return."

With a sigh, Reon canceled his stay at the inn, since he was heading into the forest, and collected the refund.

Moments later, he stepped out of the inn, frustration flickering in his eyes.

"Tsk! How can they have such backward service?" he muttered, rubbing his temple.

"Do they expect me to ride a damn carriage all the way to Greenwood Forest? That’d waste days!"

He wandered through the city again, searching for an alternative—until he spotted a Transportation Store nestled between two larger buildings.

The moment he entered, a sharply dressed man approached with a courteous bow.

"Welcome, Sir. I am Min Zhi. How may I assist you today?"

"I need to reach Greenwood Forest. What’s the fastest way to get there?" Reon asked without wasting a second.

Min Zhi nodded thoughtfully. "Most common folk take carriages that pass through the forest en route to other cities. That journey takes about two weeks."

"Too slow. I need something faster."

The man’s eyes gleamed. "In that case, a horse would cut the time down significantly. You could make it in four days—perhaps a week depending on conditions."

Reon shook his head. "Still too slow."

Min Zhi’s smile widened.

"Then allow me to offer our finest service: a beast mount— a Commoner-Lineage Bird that has ascended to the rank of Demonic Beast.

Swift, tireless, and dependable, it will carry you to the forest within a single day."

Reon’s eyes lit up with interest. "Good. I’ll take the bird."

"An excellent choice, Sir," Min Zhi replied smoothly. "Would you like to book a return service as well?"

"Yeah. I plan to stay in the forest for about two weeks. Have it sent around then."

Min Zhi nodded, his tone respectful. "Understood. That brings the total to twelve gold coins."

’Twelve?’ Reon raised an eyebrow, frowning inwardly. That’s more expensive than the sect’s teleportation service...

Still, he didn’t hesitate. Wordlessly, he drew out the coins and placed them in Min Zhi’s hand.

"Thank you, Sir." Min Zhi bowed slightly, placing one hand over his chest while gesturing with the other.

"Please, follow me. Let me guide you to the stables so you may choose your mount."

Reon followed him to a warehouse behind the store. Inside, four magnificent Spirit Birds rested quietly.

"This service is typically reserved for nobles and VIP guests," Min Zhi explained. "So our selection is limited, especially with several of our birds currently out on assignment."

Reon nodded calmly. "It’s fine. One of them will do."

Min Zhi led him to a sleek, steel-feathered falcon, nearly three meters tall.

A two-seater saddle was strapped securely across its back, clearly designed to accommodate a pair of riders.

"How about this falcon, Sir?" Min Zhi offered.

Reon studied the bird for a moment, then gave a faint smile. "That’ll do."

With practiced grace, Min Zhi led the falcon outside. The beast lowered its head, allowing Reon to mount.

Reon removed his straw hat, slipping it into his spatial ring with a casual motion, then stepped forward.

His heart beat a little faster—not from fear, but anticipation.

It’s my first time flying on a Spirit Beast... This should be interesting.

He climbed onto the falcon’s back, settling into the saddle as the creature shifted beneath him, its powerful wings half-spread and ready to take to the skies.

Then—

Whooosh!

With a mighty flap of its wings, the falcon launched into the sky.

"Whooo!! I’m flying!!" Reon shouted, exhilaration surging through him as the wind roared past his ears.

As they ascended, the entirety of Qinghe City spread out beneath them—an intricate patchwork of rooftops, winding streets, market stalls, and scattered pavilions.

At the city’s heart stood a large mansion, its white walls gleaming under the sunlight.

Beyond the city walls, the Qing River flowed gently from the distant horizon. Tall trees lined its banks, their leaves rustling softly in the breeze.

It’s beautiful from up here... Reon thought.

Moved by the moment, he smiled and raised his hand. "Cloudia, little tiger—come out."

In a swirl of energy, Cloudia and the white tiger appeared. Cloudia instantly shifted into her human form, landing gracefully in his arms.

Reon caught her with ease and positioned her in front of him on the saddle, placing the little tiger comfortably in her lap.

Cloudia’s cyan eyes sparkled. "Master, this is amazing! It’s my first time flying!"

"Same here," Reon said with a chuckle, enjoying the thrill alongside them.

The little tiger let out an excited cry, ears twitching as she peeked over the edge to take in the view.

Then—

Cloudia turned her head slightly toward Reon, her voice soft yet bold.

"Master... will you kiss me?"

"Huh...!?" Reon blinked, caught completely off guard.
