Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Vivian, Don’t Start a Fire

Jett Sterling suddenly stopped and turned to look back.

"What’s wrong?" Vivian Quinn asked, curious.

"It’s nothing. I just felt like someone was watching us."

Vivian Quinn immediately looked around carefully. "I don’t see anyone."

"Good. Let’s go."

"Okay."

As Jett Sterling averted his gaze, he discreetly glanced behind him one more time before continuing their walk.

Vivian Quinn hadn’t felt this relaxed in a long time. They walked for an hour and a half before her feet started to feel a little sore.

Jett Sterling knelt in front of her. "I’ll carry you."

"No, it’s fine. I can still walk."

"Don’t argue."

The corners of Vivian Quinn’s lips curved up as she leaned down and got on his back.

The man steadily lifted her and stood up.

An indescribable emotion washed over her. Vivian Quinn felt a sting in her nose, and tears nearly fell.

She hugged Jett Sterling’s neck tightly, rubbing her cheek against his ear.

The man’s body tensed. "Vivian, don’t play with fire."

Vivian Quinn: "..."

She looked completely baffled. "How am I playing with fire?"

"Are you really that clueless, or are you just pretending, hm?"

Vivian Quinn was even more confused. "Why would I pretend?"

Jett Sterling didn’t answer, simply continuing to walk forward.

"You have to explain what you mean," Vivian Quinn pressed.

"I’ll tell you when we get home."

Back at Sycamore Bay, when Jett Sterling pinned her against the door and kissed her, Vivian Quinn finally understood why he’d said she was playing with fire.

Her eyes widened. The man’s deep, ragged breathing in her ear threw her thoughts into complete disarray.

Vivian Quinn’s mind went blank. She felt her strength being drained away bit by bit by the man’s lingering, passionate kiss. Her hands could only rest limply on his shoulders as she received his kiss.

After a long, long time, just as she was about to run out of breath, Jett Sterling finally broke the kiss. But he didn’t let her go, holding her tightly instead.

They embraced in silence, each trying to catch their breath.

Vivian Quinn leaned against his chest, feeling his wild, racing heartbeat.

The vibrant, powerful beat hammered against her own heart, like a spring rain watering the barren fields of her soul.

Vivian Quinn snuggled deeper into his embrace, slowly closing her eyes to savor this moment of bliss.

「Meanwhile, the hospital was a scene of utter chaos.」

The doctor examined Rachel Quinn and said, "The fetus was disturbed. There’s no major issue for now, but she must get complete bed rest from now on."

"Thank you, Doctor." After the doctor left, Austin Grant looked at Rachel Quinn, who was lying in the hospital bed. His tone was flat. "I’ve already investigated. The Quinn Group does indeed owe several large debts. The debt collectors weren’t mistaken."

"How is that possible..." Rachel Quinn said in disbelief.

"It’s obvious someone set a trap. And if I’m not mistaken, it was Jett Sterling. Only he has the power to do something like this, which is why you didn’t know about it. The goal was to cause a scene at the wedding and humiliate the Grant Family."

Rachel Quinn hurriedly grabbed Austin Grant’s hand. "Honey, I’m sorry. I really didn’t know about this, and I never wanted to humiliate the Grant Family. Today was the most important day of my life! I didn’t want this to happen!"

"Of course I know that. But the fact is, the Grant Family’s reputation has been utterly ruined. I might understand, but do you think my parents will?" Austin Grant yanked at his tie in frustration. "Rachel, I really think your luck has been bad lately, and you’re dragging me down with you."

Rachel Quinn’s eyes widened. "Austin, do you have any idea what you’re saying?"

"What do you think?" Austin Grant retorted. "I’m serious. You’re a member of the Grant Family now. You need to start thinking about the family’s interests."

"When have I not considered the Grant Family?" Rachel Quinn accused, feeling wronged. "Did I ask those people to crash the wedding? Did I want to owe money? This is all Vivian Quinn’s fault! Why are you blaming me instead of her?!"

Then, as if she realized something, she froze. "Is it because Vivian Quinn is beautiful? You’ve fallen for her again, haven’t you? Austin Grant, I won’t allow it!"

"Are you crazy?!" Austin Grant said, exasperated. "Didn’t you hear what the doctor just said? You need to rest quietly. Why are you saying all this?"

"So you can do it, but I can’t talk about it? Austin Grant, don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking. I can tell just by the way you look at her!"

"Rachel Quinn, you’re seriously insane!"

"You’re the one who’s insane!" Rachel Quinn scrambled to sit up, her bloodshot eyes glaring at him. "I’m warning you, you’d better watch yourself. If I find out you have any ideas about Vivian Quinn, I’ll skin you alive!" 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

"You psycho. Just stay here. I can’t be bothered with you."

Austin Grant pushed her hand away and walked straight out.

Rachel Quinn was so furious she screamed, "AHHH—!"

’Today was her wedding day, and tonight was supposed to be her wedding night, but Vivian Quinn had ruined it all!’

’She would absolutely never let Vivian Quinn get away with this!’

...

When Vivian Quinn came out of the bathroom after her shower, she saw Jett Sterling already lying on the sofa, and her heart warmed unexpectedly.

She walked over and said, "Maybe I should sleep on the sofa. It looks a little cramped for you here."

"It’s not cramped. Go on, get some sleep."

"Okay." Vivian Quinn walked toward the large bed, but a sudden wave of dizziness washed over her. She pitched forward and fell onto the soft mattress.

"Vivian!" Jett Sterling threw off his blanket and rushed over to help her up. "What’s wrong?"

"I’m fine." Vivian Quinn said after a moment. "I probably just soaked in the bath for too long and got a little lightheaded."

Jett Sterling’s brow furrowed slightly. "I’ll call a doctor to come check on you."

"There’s no need to make such a fuss. Besides, I’m a doctor myself. Don’t worry, I’m really fine."

Jett Sterling helped her lie down. "Tell me immediately if you feel unwell."

"I know."

Vivian Quinn closed her eyes and slept soundly until dawn.

The next morning, after breakfast, she grabbed some of Joy Chase’s favorite snacks and took them to the hospital.

"Sis, you’re here!" Joy Chase, who had just gotten an injection, greeted her with a smile.

"Joy, what’s wrong?" Vivian Quinn asked, noticing her pale expression. "Did you not sleep well last night?"

Joy Chase yawned. "I had a bit of insomnia last night. Sorry, Sis, for making you worry."

Vivian Quinn sat down in a nearby chair. "Then tell me, why couldn’t you sleep? Your health may be fragile, but you’ve always been a good sleeper."

Joy Chase lowered her gaze. "I saw Brother Mason yesterday. He seemed to be in a really bad mood. I wanted to know what happened, but he wouldn’t tell me. He just said I was a kid and shouldn’t ask so many questions."

"Brother Mason is so good to me. Last time, he even risked his own life to save me. I’m so grateful to him. He doesn’t know it, but I’m not a little kid anymore..."

Vivian Quinn froze.

"Sis?" Joy Chase looked at her, confused. "Do you know what happened to Brother Mason? You have to tell me!"
