Reborn as a Transcendent-Chapter 769Book 3: : Sexy Is No Match for Cute
Night gradually deepened.
Inside the second-floor guest room of the village chief’s house in Aoma Village, the air was quiet. Lili and Zerene sat facing each other, staring wide-eyed as they locked gazes.
The former spoke first. “Can you really not remember anything else?”
The latter shook her head. “I can’t remember… it’s scary.”
“Oh? What exactly are you afraid of?” Lili’s eyes flickered as she asked with a meaningful tone.
“No, I’m not afraid of anything!” At that moment, Zerene vaguely sensed a trace of ill intent.
“Go on, tell me. It’s not like I’m going to hurt you.” Lili said with a smile that did not quite reach her eyes.
After spending some time together, their relationship had not grown closer, but it had not deteriorated into strangers or outright hostility either. At the very least, they were still able to communicate normally.
“No. I don’t believe you.” Zerene stared at Lili with a vigilant expression, her small hands instinctively clenching.
“Relax. I’m not going to subject you to any shock therapy or stimulation therapy.”
The corners of Lili’s lips curved upward, forming an adorable smile. However, in Zerene’s eyes, that was nothing less than the smile of a devil.
“You will,” she said decisively.
Although she had lost most of her memories, she was still far from an easy person to deal with. Beneath that innocent and cute exterior, it felt as if a terrifying monster was hiding. That was the impression Lili had of her.
If someone truly treated her like a child, they would probably be devoured before even realizing what had happened.
‘This little brat just won’t budge no matter what. She’s really hard to handle!’ If she could, Lili would have loved to throw the girl out immediately, preferably as far away as possible.
“Why hasn’t Little Hime come back yet?” Zerene asked, changing the subject.
“She should already be on her way back,” Lili replied.
Not long ago, one of her subordinates had brought the latest intelligence from Jade City. There had been no mention of Yae-hime. From that alone, it could be inferred that her situation was good and there was nothing to worry about.
After all, given Little Hime’s personality, if she encountered danger she would certainly react aggressively. It would be almost impossible for such a situation to go unnoticed.
“I see.” Zerene pressed her cherry-like lips together slightly. “It’s getting late, so hurry up and leave. Don’t stay in the room that belongs to Little Hime and me.” She waved her hand dismissively, the gesture resembling someone shooing away a stray cat.
Lili instantly flared up. “You’re the one who should get out! This is the room that belongs to Little Hime and me!”
“It’s mine!” Zerene puffed out her cheeks and protested.
“No, it’s mine!” Lili puffed out her cheeks as well.
The two little girls glared at each other, looking unbelievably adorable.
“Tonight I’m sleeping with Little Hime!” Zerene quickly scrambled onto the bed, seizing the territory.
“No way! Tonight Little Hime is sleeping with me!”
Lili also leapt onto the bed, forcefully claiming half of it.
“Get down!”
“You get down!”
The two pushed and shoved each other, and before long they were rolling around together in a tangled scuffle. Inside the room, the breath of spring began to spread… Which, of course, it did not.
Just as Yae-hime arrived back, she pushed open the door and was greeted by the ridiculous sight of the two of them with disheveled clothes, bits of skin accidentally exposed, wrestling in a chaotic heap.
Two girls who possessed terrifying strength, yet the way they fought looked utterly disgraceful. It truly opened her eyes.
“Little Hime, you can’t sleep with her tonight!” Lili tightly wrapped her arms around Zerene and hurriedly called out as she turned her head.
“Little Hime, she’s bullying me!” Zerene also looked over with a pitiful expression.
“What kind of behavior is this?” Yae-hime closed the door and walked over, speaking with clear annoyance.
“She was the one who hit me first.” Lili shot Zerene a sideways glare.
“How shameless, blaming others first! You were the one who started it!” Zerene retorted angrily.
“Alright, that’s enough. Stop fighting.” Yae-hime quickly stepped in, pulling them apart before sitting down between them as a physical barrier.
“Hmph!” Lili snorted. “I’m giving Little Hime face, so I won’t stoop to your level.”
“Little Hime, she’s too fierce. Don’t stay with her!” Zerene clung to Yae-hime’s arm and tried to persuade her.
“I already said I’m not fighting with you, and you’re still going on!” The anger Lili had just suppressed surged up again.
In all her life, this was the first time someone had provoked her to such an extent. ‘As expected, my earlier intuition was correct. This little one is very dangerous!’ In truth, however, the danger she sensed now was completely different from the kind she had felt at the beginning.
“Both of you, quiet down,” Yae-hime said, her expression turning cold as her voice dropped.
At those words, the two little girls immediately shrank back and obediently fell silent. Although their strength surpassed Yae-hime’s, she was clearly the one they regarded as their pillar.
“Since you’re living under the same roof, you should learn to understand and tolerate each other. Making such a scene… what kind of behavior is that?” Yae-hime lightly tapped each of their heads in turn.
The two little girls instantly revealed aggrieved expressions.
“You’re not allowed to act like this next time, understood?” As she spoke, Yae-hime gently patted both of their heads.
“Mhm.” Lili and Zerene responded at the same time.
Of course, agreeing was one thing. Whether they would actually follow through was another matter entirely.
At that very moment, the two were already fighting another silent battle through their eyes. Such small gestures naturally could not escape Yae-hime’s perception. Rolling her eyes slightly, she simply pretended not to notice.
‘Thinking about it, this is the first time I’ve seen Lili show such a childish side. It’s unexpectedly refreshing.’ Yae-hime still remembered their first meeting, when Lili had seemed somewhat aloof. Despite her adorable appearance, she had given off a distinctly cold impression.
‘Maybe what she’s showing now is her true self, without any disguise.’ With that thought, Yae-hime could not help glancing toward Zerene. Without Zerene provoking her, Lili clearly would not have displayed such intense emotions.
“Haha! Little Hime looked at me first, so I win!” Meeting Yae-hime’s gaze, Zerene said gleefully.
“No, Little Hime just secretly glanced at me earlier. That means I win!” Lili immediately shot back, refusing to concede.
“A sneak peek doesn’t count as looking, so I still win!” Zerene finished triumphantly, her face breaking into a comically smug grin. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Seeing that smug expression dripping with mockery, Lili nearly flared up again.
“Alright, that’s enough. Both of you say less.” Yae-hime quickly stepped in to extinguish the sparks once more.
“Little Hime, did you gain anything else in Jade City?” Realizing that continuing the quarrel would be too childish, Lili simply changed the subject.
As one side lowered its banner, the other side also called off the drums of war. Tonight’s battle ended without either a victor or a loser.
“I did,” Yae-hime said, straightening her posture as she recounted everything she had seen and heard in Jade City.
“It’s more or less the same as the intelligence I received.” After listening, Lili nodded thoughtfully.
“Will those clerics have a fatal impact on our actions?” Yae-hime asked with some concern.
“Fatal? Not quite.” Lili bit her lip lightly. “But it will make things much more troublesome. In the end, though, the outcome will still be decided by Alicia and Richard.”
“What if their battle ends in a stalemate?” Yae-hime asked.
“……” Lili fell silent. It wasn’t as if she had never considered that possibility. If such a situation truly occurred, then the ones who would determine victory or defeat might instead become the others.
After pondering for a moment, Lili finally spoke. “Even if the probability is low, we still have to guard against it.” Then she turned her gaze toward Zerene. “Richard has outside help. So do we.”
Following her line of sight, Yae-hime looked over, only to see Zerene wearing a completely confused expression. It seemed she had not understood a single word of their conversation.
