Chapter 135: Animals really are man’s best friend (2)

Of course, it wasn’t just the village chief that would be getting an animal best friend today.

There were too many spirit beasts to leave alone, so it was best if they could all find an animal best friend.

Which was what I was planning to do next.

Looking at the villagers who were looking at me with strange looks, I chose the other village chiefs to come forward.

They were all surprised to be chosen, but they also came forward without saying much. There were a few worried words that were said, but they still came forward to stand in front of me.

I waved my hand at the spirit beast and said, "Come forward."

There were several spirit beasts that moved this time, but then again there were several village chiefs here. It wasn’t as if only one could come forward just like last time.

The village chief of this village moved to the side with his deer and just watched as the other village chiefs were approached by their spirit beasts.

While watching, there was this strange smile that appeared on his face.

It was a sort of smile that sympathized with them, but it was also the sort of smile that seemed to be encouraging them. It was almost as if he understood how great it was to have an animal companion and wanted them to share the same experience.

When the spirit beasts came forward, I said to the village chiefs, "Well, you know what to do."

They all had strange looks on their faces after hearing this and they kept looking at the spirit beasts in front of them with the same strange looks on their faces. However, after a moment of silence, they still did the same thing as the village chief of this village and raised their hands up to the spirit beasts.

The spirit beasts also did the same thing where they brought their noses up to meet the palms that were placed in front of them.

Just like this, more bonds were formed between the spirit beasts and humans.

The village chiefs all had the same look as the village chief of this village after they were done bonding with their spirit beasts.

At the same time, the way that the villagers looked at the spirit beasts had completely changed.

It had gone from wariness and fear to curiosity and interest.

It seemed like they were intrigued by the experience that the village chiefs had and wanted to know more about the spirit beasts.

That was the reaction that I had wanted to see from them.

Once the village chiefs had finished bonding with their spirit beasts, I turned to look at the villagers. When they saw me looking at them, they had somewhat excited looks as if they were waiting for me to say something.

I just calmly said, "Instead of me bringing out some spirit beasts for everyone, everyone can go and find the spirit beast that matches them the best. Be sure to be gentle with them and respect their feelings and I’m sure that you will be able to bond with them too."

As soon as my voice fell, the villagers didn’t hesitate to head over to the spirit beasts.

At the same time, the spirit beasts also started moving towards the villagers as if they had already been instructed to interact with them.

There were some spirit beasts and some humans that were heading right for each other, almost as if they had already bonded before I let them go talk to each other. It seemed that they had already caught each other’s eyes before all of this happened.

There were some spirit beasts and some humans that approached spirit beasts and humans that were wandering. It was like there was some kind of one sided attraction from them that drew them to those spirit beasts and humans.

As for the rest, they just wandered around as if they were looking for their fated partner.

For me, who was from the modern world, it was like watching an adoption fair.

Though to be fair, I had run several of those adoption fairs in the past when I was wasting my money. I would take all the animals in the kennels of the city and spruce them up before sending them off to new owners, so this was similar to that.

I had a soft spot for animals after all.

As I let the villagers and the spirit beasts interact with each other, the village chief of this village came over to me to ask something.

"Young master, is there a reason that you’re doing all of this? Are you expecting something from us?"

The other village chiefs had been bonding with their spirit beasts as well, but they quickly turned to look in our direction when they heard what the village chief asked me. After all, they knew that their villages would also be involved in this matter since I had given them spirit beasts as well.

There was an impressed look that appeared on my face when I heard this before I gave a nod in response.

I waved my hand at the village chiefs and said, "Let’s go and talk on the side where no one can hear us."

I gave a nod to the lackeys and they quickly formed a wall to cover us, though they made sure to look as natural as possible as they did this.

Once I was alone with the village chiefs, I said, "It’s very simple, I want to turn your villages into a paradise for animals."

"Paradise for animals?" The village chiefs looked at each other with confused looks.

They could see that no one could understand what I was saying, so they turned back to look at me with the same confused looks.

I just said with a smile, "It’s very simple, I just want to..."

In the far future, this place really was known as the holy land for spirit beasts and spirit beast tamers, but that was a story that was far off in the future.
