Chapter 136: What is going on here?

After leaving the village, I had a satisfied look on my face.

I had solved two problems with one solution, so it really was killing two birds with one stone.

The spirit beasts would now co-exist with the people of the villages, helping them in their daily lives while also providing security for them. All they needed in return was some food from the villagers from time to time.

Though in reality, they didn’t really need that much food since they could scavenge and hunt wild animals that attacked the village in the first place.

In short, this would become a place where humans and spirit beasts could co-exist.

Especially since the spirit beasts would also be able to convince other spirit beasts to calm down and be friendly to humans with the stone that I had left behind.

It was a stone that I had imparted some of the powers of my title to, which they could use to calm wild spirit beasts down.

I didn’t know how effective it was, but the system had guaranteed its effectiveness which was good enough for me.

Since we had taken care of the business with the villages, the only thing left for us to do now was return to the Falling Star Sect. After all, the purpose of our trip this time was to take care of the spirit beasts that were attacking the villages.

With the spirit beasts being turned into pets, this was considered done.

As we were heading back to the Falling Star Sect, I checked the map for the main mission.

I found that the villages where we had just been were now smeared with red on the map, but...there was something different about this red compared to the red that smeared the town.

This red was much deeper than the red that was in the town.

At the same time, I could see that it gave me much more mission progress than the red in the town. It was almost three times as much mission progress even though the area was much smaller than in the town and the villages surrounding the town.

What was going on here?

I couldn’t help feeling confused about this until the system said, "The degree of renown is also taken into consideration."

"Degree?" I asked in a confused voice.

The system went on to explain, "The degree of worship of the host is considered when measuring degree of renown. The greater the worship, the more reputation is given."

"Worship, huh?" I couldn’t help thinking to myself.

If it was just about worshipping, then I could understand why the area around these villages would have a deeper shade of red on it. I could still remember the way that they looked at me when I left.

There was an even stronger sense of fanaticism in their eyes than before...

It was as if...

No, I’m just hoping that I was wrong about that.

Since the system had explained this, I wanted to stop thinking about it because thinking about it too much wouldn’t help me.

Instead, I chose to focus on the road that was in front of us. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Seeing as we had already finished the mission, there was no need for us to take our time to head back to the Falling Star Sect.

I wanted to find another mission if possible so that I could gain even more reputation, so I actually wanted to get back to the Falling Star Sect as soon as possible.

That was why we were taking the flying artifacts that I had gotten from the system.

It was one that was far better than the one that Elder Tian had previously and it was at a far higher level than Elder Tian was, so it was considered a waste to give it to him.

Because of that, Elder Tian gladly turned himself into a chauffeur for me.

There were people that were caught off guard by us passing by as we flew at incredible speeds overhead, but there wasn’t a single person that was able to catch a proper sight of us as we flew overhead.

The funny thing was that I had completely forgotten about the Transport Array that I could have used because I just wanted to get back as soon as possible. It really was funny since the Transport Array would have sent me back to the sect much faster than flying back would.

But no one said a thing as I urged them on.

The lackeys really were loyal in that they listened to whatever I said, even if there was a better option to use.

It wasn’t completely smooth sailing as in the middle of our trip...

"Take this!"

There was this voice that suddenly rang out before a powerful attack fell down on us.

Elder Tian deeply knitted his brows and raised his hand to block it, but he found that it was even too strong for him to block.

The only reason that we were able to survive in the end was because the flying carpet that we were on suddenly raised itself to cover us. However, when we landed on the ground, it was clear that this flying carpet was damaged as the edges of it were singed.

Elder Tian had a sad look on his face when he saw the damaged carpet, but he quickly focused himself as he could feel the danger coming from above them.

The one that had attacked them was still there after all.

There was this pink haired girl in a pink dress that suddenly floated down from the sky.

She had a confused look on her face as she looked down at us and said, "You’re not dead? But that attack should have easily burnt you all to a crisp."

There were bitter smiles that appeared on all of our faces when we heard this, but there wasn’t a single person who denied what she said.

After all, she was right about this...

She was clearly much stronger than Elder Tian, so it should be easy for her to kill us all.
