Vengeance of The Broken Lycan Prince [BL]-Chapter 471: We All Need Someone To Fight
[KOSTA]
"But... he is alive. The palace has yet to announce any changes. And we all still feel the link with him. You should not worry too much, Igor. He is alive, and that’s probably enough for now while we wait for better news," Akila said reassuringly.
Igor sighed softly.
He knew what his friend meant, and he knew that Akila was being helpful, or rather, trying to be helpful. He was trying to distract Igor from the fact that the prince would be lost, and there was much that they could do to save the man.
Maybe there was time to hope, to pray to the gods for what would happen. Maybe there was still a chance that they could fix everything, but were they all going to be focusing on chances between the known and the unknown at this point?
Would it ever matter when the sun went down?
"Him being alive is not enough, Akila. My Erasthai is weak, and the options left are either too crazy or dangerous. However, there is a loophole I can exploit, one that seems risky but is also not as risky at the same time.
"Then again, I find myself wondering if it will work or even break through the fever that has a hold on the love of my life," Igor said, frustratedly, before he got up and began pacing.
He knew what he was considering was madness, pure insanity, but then what else was there?
What could be more dangerous than the fact that he had to spend his life waiting for his Erasthai, who probably would stay a vegetable for as long as the fates deemed so?
How much longer was he supposed to stay on the sidelines and watch Tamiko lose himself in the process? How long was he supposed to stand by and watch as his Erasthai faded, and there wasn’t much that he could do for him?
"Pardon me, Sire, but do you by chance mean the Grealor mission?" Akila asked, and that had Igor stiffening.
For the first time, it felt like he had been smacked in the face. He was yet to decide whether it was the good kind or the king that was bound to fuck him over because this was madness.
But why was it suddenly appealing to him?
"What did you just say?" Igor asked carefully as he had just heard the one thing that was forbidden for many of them.
Then again, what was the use of hiding such a great pain when the obstacles that had been paraded before them seemed to be doing a really great job at fucking up their lives, no matter what they tried to do to make it all an easy life, right?
"Sire..." Akila trailed off like he wasn’t sure he had said anything wrong. He understood his master was on edge lately, and frankly, it wasn’t hard to understand why.
"No. Before that... what the fuck did you say about Grealor?" Igor asked, and Akila stared at him softly like a man who was not sure whether he was to repeat the landlord’s words or if this was just his chance to say that it was nothing.
On one end, denying it all seemed like the best idea, yet on the other hand, it seemed like another recipe for standing disasters. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
There was nothing that could be understood in life that held many battles, and one that had Igor Konstantin feeling like shit, the barbarians were ready to march for Grealor, if the Lycan Chief willed it.
That was not something that they would put behind them.
But damn was it a hard one.
"It was a suggestion, sire. Lord Daniel made it before he left for the palace. He told me to suggest it to you, as it would make it easier, given the ultimatum didn’t say who was to flatten Grealor.
"You are the prince’s Erasthai. You hold as much power and have as much effect on the ultimatum as he does. Perhaps you can consider that suggestion, Igor," Akila said, and Igor breathed a sigh of defeat and relief at the same time.
He was a broken man.
A man who had kept on losing even when he didn’t need to.
A man who had to fight with worse demons every day.
And now at this moment, he was a man who was being tempted by war for the one person that mattered most to him.
Even if Danny had suggested it, Igor would go to Grealor and flatter him.
Perhaps it was the only reminder of what life was bound to be like for them, right? Oh, but that was a hard choice in a hard time. The Lycan chief wasn’t sure he wanted to abandon Kawai for Grealor.
Grealor was huge.
It was a pack that would need the best of strategies.
Strategies that would need more for them to work through. It would need almost half the Kawai army to deal with them, and yet as Igor looked at Akila, he knew arranging the army for Grealor was not the best of ideas.
It would have so many questions, not to mention, by the time the army would have made it out of Kawai, everybody would already have known that the chief was going to war against Grealor for his Erasthai.
And then more questions would arise as to what had happened to the prince.
Maybe it was the only way out, but what else was there for Igor to consider then?
"Akila... This will be a personal war. I have to do this. I need to do this. But my barbarians..." Igor said as he looked at his friend, he knew what he was asking if there were a lot.
He knew what the stakes were, and while he hated it all, he could do nothing but force his friends to fight a personal war for him. It would be against everything that they had stood for for years.
It would be something that they didn’t deserve, and while he was sure the barbarians would follow him to hell itself, Igor couldn’t ask that of them.
"While you were asleep, we were preparing for Grealor, sire. We know what will happen. We understand the risks. We would give our lives for you without question," Akila said, his voice firm like he was telling Igor that they had already made up their mind.
All he had to do was sure yes, and they would burn great.
All he needed to do was give them the goal head, and all would be well. It was a risky agreement, and yet there was nothing that they would not do for the happiness of their chief.
They made up their minds.
They did what needed to be done.
As Akila spoke, Igor looked at him, wondering if he was the luckiest warrior alive or if he was just. A lucky man with a terrible fate.
"Some of us might not come back, Akila..." Igor said that he was telling the man that this was a risky mission, one whose chances were probably doomed, but one that had to be done with the current army that they had.
And to that, Akila looked at the man before him if this was really the first time he was hearing of this.
"We can take Grealor down in a day, Igor."
